My doctor also prescribed liquid Tylenol 3/codeine. I never needed it. In fact, I was fortunate enough not to need any pain medication.

Help Pls Need Advice !
notime replied to Ready2Bthin's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You can make Jello with Protein powder. I use a tropical fruit powder (Pina Colada, a Jay Robb powder, purchased at GNC) but perhaps there are other fruit powders. It tastes delicious, avoids the whole yucky shake thing, and counts as protein and Fluid. --Territravel was right, take care of you first. Right now nothing is more important. --For the Vitamins, set an alarm or put a note where you will see it to remind yourself to take them. --Concentrate on the fluids. Is it possible you are dehydrated? Check with your doctor. --Consider seeing a counselor, perhaps the one you saw for approval for the procedure? --You aren't supposed to have an appetite. You just need to concentrate on the fluids and, to the extent you can stomach it, get the protein in by eating/drinking at regular mealtimes and eat a couple of Snacks. Sip, sip, sip. --If you aren't keeping a record of the amount of fluids and Proteins you are getting, start doing it. It will help you focus on the important things and will act as a stimulus to reach the goals. --Keep reminding yourself why you had the surgery. You had no choice but to do it for your health and, basically, for your life. -
Keep remembering the reasons to have the surgery. That will keep you focused.

I found it easy, too, and I'm a real baby when it comes to pain. The hospital gave me a morphine pump I never had to use. The doctor gave me pain and nausea medicines for at home that I never had to use. For about a week, there was slight pain getting out of bed. People tend not to post about experiences like that. It's the tough situations that get the attention because they stand out so strongly in the person's mind. I was sleeved on April 23rd this year and don't even really remember much about the surgery or the recovery. Good luck! You will be so glad you did this!

If I Burp One More Time.....

Now that some time has passed, why not try drinking without the straw and see if that helps. Hopefully you don't need the straw any more. -
I can't get in my required protein without a protein rich snack. cheese lowfat plain Greek yogurt

Congratulations on your progress! Your joy leaps from the page. I've been watching the news about Colorado's fire and have a hard time comprehending just how large it is. Are you anywhere near it? I am thinking of the people who's lives are being devastated and will continue to hope for a speedy end to the disaster.

Are you counting your calories? I thought I was within the recommended number, until I started counting. My nutritionist says 800 max for a woman.

I'll be pulling for you. Please keep us informed as you go through this.

Surgery Was The Best Thing In My Life!
notime replied to Diablowizzard's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Thanks for sharing your story, Diablowizard. The sleeve has so many benefits for all of us. I'm hoping to be able to walk a mile soon, too, OTR. -
Maybe I do have to, I just haven't gotten any bills yet. There was some confusion on my part because I have both Blue Cross/Blue Shield federal and Tricare. Originally I was going to get the lap band and was assured my insurance companies would completely cover the cost. When I changed to the sleeve, no one told me Tricare considered it an experimental procedure and would not pay any for it. As of now, though, I haven't received any bills.

I was sleeved 4/23 and so far no one has asked me to pay a thing. Maybe they're going to ambush me with it.

First Non-Scale Victories Pre-Surgery!

Undies!!! I can't wait until I have to get new undies! They are getting pretty ragged, but I'm holding out until I can buy a smaller size. -
I was a coffee addict, drinking at least 10 cups a day. In the months before surgery, I began cutting down on the coffee. I did it gradually, avoiding the terrible headaches. I am sorely tempted, but have not gone back to my coffee/caffeine habit.
-
I doubt the ruling will immediately change anything for sleevers. While people will be required to have insurance, there is no requirement that the insurance specifically cover procedures such as the sleeve.
-
My doctor approved one cup of coffee a day but no more. Some of his patients have developed ulcers from too much coffee.

I'm so sorry for what you are going through. What a nightmare! I'll be thinking of you and hoping for a quick recovery. Please check back in and let us know how you are doing.

Sleeve/gallbladder Out Vs. Not Same Time-- Recovery And Other Things
notime replied to Marty McSkinnystein's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't know the answer to most of your questions so I won't venture a guess. I do wonder, though, if it makes a difference to know which changes are due to the gall bladder removal and which are due to the sleeve. They are both permanent and we have to accept what comes with that. That said, I had my gall bladder removed some years before my sleeve surgery and experienced no changes whatsoever. -
What a great story. I laughed all the way through it. Good luck this evening!

Psychologist Visit For The Gastric Sleeve?
notime replied to mama krystal's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My psychologist just talked to me. She asked questions that can easily be answered. It was no big deal. -
I don't do bottled water. Fortunately, my tap water is fine. When I want something more I use Mio's mango/peach flavor. It is superb. It is the only water flavoring I need.
