What Is Your Snack After Weight Loss Surgery? Im Craving Something And Im 4 Weeks Post-Op.
notime replied to Karen2012's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Cheese. There are lots of different cheeses. I keep tasting new ones and either add them to my list of foods I love or vow to never again eat the ones I don't like. I don't use crackers or anything else to put them on, just cheese. -
In my opinion, the Bariatric Advantage multi-vitamin tastes horrendous. I took one and gave the rest away. They also are, as you pointed out, expensive. The advantage to it is that you only need take one a day. Others my nutritionist suggested are Flintstones multi-vitamin, which I am taking now, and Centrum, which I will try next. Both of those are fine and need to be taken twice a day. I am also required to take B-12, calcium and iron. Those are fairly easy to find.

You have unbelievable responsibilities that I can't even imagine. Please let us know what the doctor says and what you decide. Say hi to the animals for me!

It sounds terrible. Can you wait a month? The way you lay it out it seems there is ample reason to delay the surgery. However, I had no real recovery period after my surgery, just a short restriction on lifting things. Perhaps you could talk to your doctor about the typical recovery and about whether things are likely to get worse in the month you put off surgery.

I can't believe anything but exercise and plastic surgery will help longer term. The rest seem like medicine show potions designed to part us and our money.

Nsv... I Went From 5:45 Am To 5 Pm Without Using My Wheelchair...

That's it! Keep doing what you can each day. I admire your strength and will. -
I had gallbladder surgery a few years ago and had no pain afterwards. The only thing that changed in my life was that the surgeon limited the amount I could lift for a few weeks. Here's hoping the two of you have the same experience.

Today I fit into the robe provided at the hair salon. Previously, I didn't fit and every employee who came near me asked if I didn't want to change into the robe. How difficult that was, but now I did it!

That's exactly what I figured out and it worked. There was only slight discomfort. I didn't need pain medicine at all once I left the hospital. Good luck to you. Being on the other side and working for a better life is wonderful.

I agree with everything the others have said and only want to add one small point: 14 pounds in 17 days is amazing. Please don't diminish your successes. You need all the success you can get right now.

I was given one week notice and went into panic that it was so close, because I had been thinking it would be about four months. Looking back, I am glad I didn't have much time.

Lipton Pureleaf Unsweentes Tea
notime replied to NewLifeAhead's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My doctor said no. Coffee has less caffeine. He said that one cup of coffee a day is all right, but that he has seen people who drink more develop ulcers. Others on here have not been told to limit their caffeine, so each doctor has his/her own policies. -
Horrible Feeling Of Food Going Down...

Definitely. Make sure you are eating miniscule quantities and eating very slowly. -
It must be terribly discouraging and frightening to go through such a trauma. Did the cardiologist say this is a one-time type of problem? Why are you having the surgery in the first place? Health and quality of life problems? The certainty of future problems? Definitely insist on talking to the surgeon and anesthesiologist and getting solid answers from them. As you go through this, my thoughts are with you. I imagine I would be in a state of panic. Good luck and please let us know how you are doing both before and after the surgery.

With all of the protein and fluids I need to get in, I don't have room for anything more than one bite of a salad and I am three months out.

Love this!

Is There Anything That You Wish You Knew Pre-Op?
notime replied to Mews's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm sorry about your troubles with the sleeve and about your depression related to it. I had depression that was fully treated before the surgery and it is still fully treated. My experience has been completely different than yours. The education and materials provided by my doctor and his staff prepared me well, as did the posts on this site and my visits to a local bariatric surgery support group. Pre-op, surgery and recuperation held no surprises and I got through them very well. When I have a question about something, I look in the written materials my doctor and his staff gave me. If I have further questions, I look on this site and/or I ask them at the bariatric surgery support group. I have had no complications and, while part of that is luck and a good surgeon, another part is because of my adherence to the rules. Living with the sleeve productively and healthily requires hard work and dedication. I was fully prepared for that. Perhaps if you start over, researching the sleeve and the rules for making it work, and commit yourself to following the rules, you will get a new start. Remind yourself of why you had the surgery in the first place. Fat and happy doesn't do much for the health problems you had or were facing. Best of luck and I hope you keep us informed of your progress. -
When Do U Go Vack To The Pool After Surgery?
notime replied to madintx's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My doctor gave me the all clear for the pool at the one month visit. He wanted to make sure all the incisions were completely healed. -
From my experience, it is counted as two months.
-
Weight Watchers definitely is not necessary.
-
I got a copy of the requirements for my insurance and took it to the doctor's office so he would know what to advise me on and could put the right words into the physician's notes. He thanked me for it. So that he did not have to do the nutrition advice, I joined Weight Watchers for the 6 month period, but that is not necessary.

Sounds like a great idea! You can do this.

So sorry you need surgery. Do you have a date yet? Please let us know what's going on.
