Am I Misunderstanding Foods Post-Surgery
notime replied to Shape_Shifter's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
No, you aren't. Noodles, rice, potatoes, sugar added foods, etc. are not on the diet. Some people go totally with the diet, others "cheat" once in a while, and some get caught up into the "cheating". It all depends on how much and how fast you want to lose and whether or not you want to stay at your goal weight. -
The Fine Line Between Acceptance And Making Excuses

What's the point of having the sleeve if we don't change our diets to make the most of it? We go into this with the knowledge of how to eat a healthy diet and should stick with it. We have been told and tell others that it is a tool. Let's treat it like the tool it is and implement the healthy eating part, which is the main part of the plan. Going off the plan is an invitation to lack of progress or actually gaining weight. I tell myself, "Never again will I be overweight." and I hope to continue acting in a manner that will ensure it. When I get tempted, I pull out a picture of me at my highest weight and it gives me support in my decision not to eat "bad stuff." I am only three and a half months out, but have resisted temptation and hope to continue resisting it. I'm sorry if I come across as though I think I am a saint, but this is my plan and I am sticking to it. -

Sugar free jam would serve you better and, from what you say, you have a problem with chocolate (the m & ms). It appears you are likely to go beyond the small piece of chocolate. Planning is one thing, doing is another. Check out eggface's site for some chocolate flavored desserts. -

Body Piercing-Surgery Question
notime replied to amykins's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Suggestion: Take it out at home before going to surgery. Otherwise, it has to be checked in and put in a secure place, often the Security office. Then you have to go through the hassle of going to the place it has been held and checking it out when you leave the hospital. -
I have had what sounds like the same pain you are having. I had it about 10 times in the years before surgery and again a few days ago. I am three months out. The pain is unbelievably bad and no position or gas medicine relieves it. I felt like lying on the ground and curling up in the fetal position. I found that taking a big swig of a liquid got rid of it. The doctors have no idea what the problem is.

I agree. Go for the earliest date. I panicked when I got my date, too, but got over it when I concentrated on the health reasons for the surgery. It looks as though the earliest date gives you time to recuperate before starting school and the new job.

Do what your doctor and nutritionist say.

Ask your doctor's office.

In my opinion, the diet we have to follow once we get on regular food is essentially the Atkins diet. We definitely go into ketosis if we are following our diet correctly.

No longer do I have to lean on the bannister to get downstairs! I can even go down without using the bannister at all!

Mine says no. She particularly warned us not to eat theater popcorn. I don't really know why though. Perhaps because if I am eating popcorn, I am not eating protein or vegetables.

Can I Take A Pill Cut In Half?
notime replied to suzjag's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It depends on the pill. Ask your pharmacist which can be broken in half. -

Congratulation! You must be on cloud nine. I just drank a sip of water to your good health! -
I do not agree that you should tell the second doctor the opinion of the first. Telling him/her might prejudice the opinion you get. In fact, I wouldn't tell the doctor it is a second opinion you are seeking. Go in fresh and get an unbiased opinion.

No. I have lost 57 pounds and feel terrific. If you are talking about my body actually feeling a hole where my stomach used to be, no. If you are talking about missing something I used to do, no.

How Bad Is Post-Op Farting?

I have had only the normal amount which, I am pleased to announce, was confined to my home. -
Good luck. I hope it happens for you.

Try one other doctor.

Chocolate pudding. My doctor considers it a liquid and it masks a lot of the medicine taste, not all, but a lot. It made my horrible bitter medicine acceptable.

The Top 5 Things You Will Not Miss After Vsg
notime replied to SkinnyMinnie2Be's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
--I don't miss needing my husband to put on my socks and shoes or just wearing flip flops regardless of the time of year. --I don't miss having to lean heavily on the banister going down stairs. --I don't miss being borderline diabetic. --I don't miss not being able to weed the gardens. --I don't miss having to sit in a "special" chair when lounging around the pool. -
What a great plan for the surgery! Like you, I can't believe a lot of people in the hospital knew that you had that problem. I can understand them knowing that it happened, but not to whom it happened. Sounds like a violation of the HIPAA privacy rule.

I think all the special potions for preventing hair loss and getting new hair to grow in are a waste of money. Companies are still looking for a "cure" for hair loss. Look at all the bald men around. If there were an answer, the airwaves would be bursting with ads about it.
