    Alcohol?

"I Understand you shouldn't drink." So the answer is "water."

What's On The Menu? Let's Share...

    Raw oysters for dinner!
  3. Check with your dr's office about the heating pad; mine wouldn't let me bring one.

    Venting!

The word "therapy" comes to mind. How about going with him to see a therapist about the problem? It doesn't sound as though you will be able to convince him out of his insecurities. Therapy may help him deal with his problems and may help you deal with him. Good luck and please seek out professional help. Congratulations on having made the decision to improve your health and quality of life.

    I Am Confused

Your doctor's insurance person should be able to answer that.

    Weakness/tired

Call your doctor about that incision.
  7. That seems reasonable. I know it is difficult to hold back. Hang in there and do keep us posted.
  8. Take a couple of deep breaths. The coordinator's answer to you seems reasonable. The surgery is important to anyone who is having it. Why should your paperwork be done before someone else's? My suggestion is to let her alone to do her job.
  9. Whatever my doctor told me to eat. I don't know your doctor's policies on when to eat what.
  10. One week? Ignore the scale, follow the doctor's orders and you will get results.
  11. You don't want to know how I was going to reply to this post. You must be feeling better and I'm glad.

    I Have A Question Help

I agree with the others. And if you refuse to follow your doctor's orders now, how will you be able to follow them the rest of your life? Get with the program and enjoy the results.
  13. If you drink coffee, it would be a good idea to gradually wean yourself off it. You don't want to suffer caffeine withdrawal in the hospital and you may not be able to drink it until your stomach has healed some.

    Congratulations. Sounds like a plan.

    Disappointed And A Little Sad

Please don't call yourself a cow and please don't think of yourself or anyone else that way. You have improved your health, quality of life and appearance and will continue to do so. Try to think of it that way. You have come a long way in losing weight and you are not done losing. You can do this.

    Liquid Diet

Keep remembering your goal, which isn't the surgery but the benefits from the surgery. Also, keep reminding yourself that pre-op is for only a short period of time. You can do this.

    Help

It sounds as though you have had a sudden change for the worse. If that is so, please call your doctor.
  18. I have no medical training or experience, but one thing that jumped out at me was your comment that you try to offset exercise and calories. It doesn't seem that would get you anywhere, that your eating is cancelling out the weight loss effect of your exercise. Why don't you try your nutritionist's advice? She is the expert.

    Very Small Nsv

This is not a small nsv; it is huge. Congratulations!

    Almost Here...

Kellie, I'm glad things have settled down a little at home and the surgery will soon be behind you. Gall bladder surgery was nothing when I had it done. You will do well. Keep us informed.
  21. Congratulations on your weight loss and your hard work to get there. You should be very proud of yourself.

    Can't Shake It......

It does take a while. I think it took me a month. Are you taking all of the supplements in the amounts you are supposed to take? You must push the fluids and protein. You must.
  23. My surgeon required four group sessions with his nutritionist: three before surgery and one after. The meetings were extremely helpful, covering nutrition, supplements and eating habits during the pre-op diet, the post-op diet, the mushie stage and the rest of my life. She did not try to help me lose weight so that I did not need the surgery. We are all at this point because we have tried dieting, lost weight and gained it back again. The purpose was to get me ready for the surgery and the life I would have afterwards.

    Common Practice?

I don't know whether it is common or not. My surgeon required $495 after the first appointment to cover the binder of information they gave me and administrative expenses until my insurance approved the surgery. I was not required to pay anything else up front. BCBS federal is my insurance and my copay was $100. I paid that after the surgery.
