What Should I Take To Hospital?
notime replied to billyvmom's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Check with your dr's office about the heating pad; mine wouldn't let me bring one. -
The word "therapy" comes to mind. How about going with him to see a therapist about the problem? It doesn't sound as though you will be able to convince him out of his insecurities. Therapy may help him deal with his problems and may help you deal with him. Good luck and please seek out professional help. Congratulations on having made the decision to improve your health and quality of life.

Your doctor's insurance person should be able to answer that.

Call your doctor about that incision.

Problem With Secretary/coordinator

That seems reasonable. I know it is difficult to hold back. Hang in there and do keep us posted. -
Problem With Secretary/coordinator
notime replied to conrow1994's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Take a couple of deep breaths. The coordinator's answer to you seems reasonable. The surgery is important to anyone who is having it. Why should your paperwork be done before someone else's? My suggestion is to let her alone to do her job. -
What Were You Eating 3 Weeks Postop?

Whatever my doctor told me to eat. I don't know your doctor's policies on when to eat what. -

I Have A Question Help
notime replied to krystal24's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I agree with the others. And if you refuse to follow your doctor's orders now, how will you be able to follow them the rest of your life? Get with the program and enjoy the results. -
Any Tips To Get Mentally Prepared For The New Diet?
notime replied to ashley624's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If you drink coffee, it would be a good idea to gradually wean yourself off it. You don't want to suffer caffeine withdrawal in the hospital and you may not be able to drink it until your stomach has healed some. -

See you on the other side! -
Congratulations. Sounds like a plan.

Please don't call yourself a cow and please don't think of yourself or anyone else that way. You have improved your health, quality of life and appearance and will continue to do so. Try to think of it that way. You have come a long way in losing weight and you are not done losing. You can do this.
-
Keep remembering your goal, which isn't the surgery but the benefits from the surgery. Also, keep reminding yourself that pre-op is for only a short period of time. You can do this.

It sounds as though you have had a sudden change for the worse. If that is so, please call your doctor.

Looking For A Buddy/mentor In Atlanta And Major Post Surgery Advice
notime replied to nardelkn's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I have no medical training or experience, but one thing that jumped out at me was your comment that you try to offset exercise and calories. It doesn't seem that would get you anywhere, that your eating is cancelling out the weight loss effect of your exercise. Why don't you try your nutritionist's advice? She is the expert. -
This is not a small nsv; it is huge. Congratulations!

Kellie, I'm glad things have settled down a little at home and the surgery will soon be behind you. Gall bladder surgery was nothing when I had it done. You will do well. Keep us informed.

Congratulations on your weight loss and your hard work to get there. You should be very proud of yourself. -
It does take a while. I think it took me a month. Are you taking all of the supplements in the amounts you are supposed to take? You must push the fluids and protein. You must.

What To Expext From The Nutrution Meetting
notime replied to TuscanyDreams's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgeon required four group sessions with his nutritionist: three before surgery and one after. The meetings were extremely helpful, covering nutrition, supplements and eating habits during the pre-op diet, the post-op diet, the mushie stage and the rest of my life. She did not try to help me lose weight so that I did not need the surgery. We are all at this point because we have tried dieting, lost weight and gained it back again. The purpose was to get me ready for the surgery and the life I would have afterwards. -
I don't know whether it is common or not. My surgeon required $495 after the first appointment to cover the binder of information they gave me and administrative expenses until my insurance approved the surgery. I was not required to pay anything else up front. BCBS federal is my insurance and my copay was $100. I paid that after the surgery.
