    Bread

If you're a huge bread fan, that is what helped put you in this situation to begin with. Avoid bread like the plague. I can't believe you asked this.

    Blood Pressure Drop Concerns

Because you're asking about the food restriction I'm assuming you mean are the chances of going into a coma, having a sudden drop in blood pressure, etc.elevated for the rest of your life and the answer is--No. The surgery should make you healthier.

    Company In The Hospital?

You're not being selfish. When I woke up from surgery, they whisked me right into my hospital room. There was really no time spent in Recovery. I don't know what other's experience was, though. If he can't be there and you are frightened, could you call and talk to him from your hospital room?

    Blood Pressure Drop Concerns

I don't think anyone here can tell you what to do, but we can offer our support. Please keep us informed as you work through this decision.
  5. I thought you meant your co-workers were being rude, but customers also should never treat you like that. I hope you will be able to go to school and get a less stressful job. Pay off those bills!

    Anxiety

Soon you'll be losing weight and keeping it off!
  7. Keep reminding yourself why you need the surgery: health, quality of life and even life itself. At this point, having tried diet after diet only to be unsuccessful, there are no other options. I can not believe people at work call you those things. What kind of people are these and what kind of work environment do you have? I suggest that once you are through the surgery and accustomed to all of the changes look for another job.

    Wow Im Down To 395!

    Congratulations. Way to go.
  10. Being nauseous and not being able to get the fluids in would get me down, too. Is it possible you need intravenous fluids? If you haven't been getting enough for three weeks, dehydration could be a problem. Peacequeen is right. Get in to see your doctor. Hang in there and let us know how you are doing.

    I Need Help Please!

Full disclosure: I do not do this myself. A woman in my support group has lost a great deal of weight. For her snacks, she uses the various vitamins and minerals we need to take. Some of them need to be spaced out anyway. I don't believe I would be able to do this, but thought I would throw it out there.

    Am I Wrong? :/

I am sorry but I wrote, " 50% more likely to be alcoholics than they were before surgery." That is correct and does not mean that 50% of weight loss patients become alcoholics. Sorry if it could be interpreted the way you did.

    Am I Wrong? :/

jannapenn, I am sorry for having turned the discussion to something you were not asking about. Of course, we all need support from those close to us and many of us have been exposed to some people who are not supportive . The question is: does being supportive mean they can't sometimes offer an opinion different than yours?

    Am I Wrong? :/

Actually, I didn't read the study wrong. Per the study: "a relative increase of more than 50 percent compared to pre-surgical rates." Ten percent is roughly 50 percent greater than 7 percent. Also, the study defines alcohol use disorder as alcoholism. Yes, the study involved RNY and lap band participants. However, several factors tie it to sleeve patients. The study authors and other doctors suggested that the reasons WLS patients may turn to alcohol could be that they are tired of strict rules about what they eat and drink or that they may develop new social lives that include drinking after losing large amounts of weight. Another reason suggested is that extremely obese people lose some of their tolerance for alcohol consumption when they lose weight. Every one of these potential causes is the same for the sleeve as they are for RNY. Not one of the suggested reasons is related to the difference in surgical procedures for RNY vs. sleeve. The important thing is that we all be aware of these results so that we have information to consider it we choose to.

    Am I Wrong? :/

They seem to be concerned about you and your health and with good reason. NIH has sponsored a large study of weight loss surgery and alcoholism. The results are that people who have weight loss surgery are 50% more likely to be alcoholics than they were before surgery. The results were particularly bad for younger people. The increase is startling to me. Presumably, your drinking this time was a one-off, but it doesn't hurt to be aware of the dangers. http://www.nih.gov/n...12/niddk-18.htm

    Cheated

Pick up and start again. There's nothing you can do about the past. How long are you on pre-op?
  21. I hope you are able to make the best decision for you. You are in the right place to get information about the sleeve! As for me, I had no current health reasons for the sleeve, but knew there would be problems in the future.

8 Years And This Is What Happens?

Sorry about his lack of support. I hope you have others who are supporting you and you have this site as well. You can do this.
  23. A lot of people on here have experienced problems getting protein in at your stage. Surely some of them will chime in. Are you getting the required amount of fluids yet? The lack of energy is perfectly normal.
  24. I'm so glad everything is working out for you.
