    Update!

    Good job.
  2. You may question yourself more before the surgery. Most of us seem to have done that.

    50&...

Wow! You are really doing it right. Best of luck; hope you continue posting.

    Almost Here...

You've lost so much. You should be proud of yourself. I've lost a couple of pounds this last month but nowhere near what I hoped to lose, of course. A member of my local support group recommended that all of us on a plateau go on a diet that has no carbs whatsoever for a short period of time to see if that breaks the stall. I started that yesterday.

How Long To Take Off Work?

It definitely depends on your job as the weight you can lift will be limited for a while. My doctor said not more than 15 pounds for the first four weeks. Check with your doctor on this. I am retired but would have been ready for work after one week.
  6. I found an introductory session nearby and asked my husband to go with me. He did not only that, but has accompanied me to every meeting with the doctor, nutritionist and exercise therapist. He is very thin and active but has supported me unconditionally then and now.

    Constipstion Remedies?

I forgot to mention that Benefiber and its clones have no taste. I mix it in Water and it mixes completely. The directions say to take it three times a day, but I am fine with just one.

    Calcium Citrate...

Thanks, O.T.R. sleever. I will take a look at my foods and see how much I am getting already.

    Whole Or Egg Whites

I like the yolk more, but kept hearing that the white has all the protein. My nutritionist even said it. I checked it and turns out the whole egg has seven proteins with the white having more than four and the yolk having more than two. The yolk also has most of the nutritional value and, yes, more fat. Because I can only eat half an egg, I decided the yolk was still my preference.
  10. I would like to suggest Cera Ve lotion for the skin. I started using it because I have eczema and it helps with the itching. It also acts to help minimize eczema. Anyway, my skin, which had been dry and flaky like yours is now soft and flakyless (I know that's not a word.). It doesn't leave an oily residue on the skin either. It has my highest recommendation.
  11. My doctor required the liquid diet, but Atkins makes sense. It is very similar to how we are supposed to eat after we start eating real food.

    Great post. Couldn't agree more.

    How Do I Stay Positive?

I stayed positive about the surgery by being negative about the health consequences of not having it.
  14. Congratulations on your common sense. I like your assessment of the situation.

Are The Vitamins With Us Forever?

Yes. Although I don't know about the biotin.

    I Did It!

As far as I can tell, that is a stage that most people go through. For me, it lasted only a day. Then I bucked up and got with the program.

    Feeling Like ?%#*

This is major surgery. It will take your body a while to recover. It is natural to be tired. In a few more days, you will not be as tired and will have more energy as you lose weight. Hang in there.

    Taco Soup

Sounds delicious. I will probably use a dollop of plain Fage yogurt rather than the sour cream. It tastes like sour cream and has 23 proteins per cup.
  19. In my case, the regret--What have I done? This is permanent. I want to go back.--was very short lived, one to three days max. Hang in there. Soon you will be eating real food and, once the results of the surgery kick in and you are in the new routine, you will be fine.

    What's Worse?

Well...I didn't start putting on weight until I became 40. Even as I gained weight, I thought of myself as slim with extra pounds added and my self-image remained high. (Yes, I know obesity and poor self-image do not necessarily go together.) Seventy pounds have flown off my still overweight body and when I look in a mirror I see myself getting back to where I have "always" been. So far, being smaller has not required a mental/emotional adjustment.
  21. How about trying the other GI doctor?

    Almost Here...

I do feel good about it. I hovered at 201 for a long long time. Congratulations on your recovery from surgery. Were you able to get help taking care of your family and animals?

    Overwhelmed!

It certainly seems to take up a lot of time and effort. I'm hoping some of it will soon become a routine. One small suggestion--if you aren't already doing this, get a pill case, the kind that has compartments marked with the different days of the week, and use it for your vitamins. I use two of them so I only have to refill once every two weeks. That will help with the question of whether you have taken your vitamins.
