Returning protein powder
notime replied to lexysdad04's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I returned some powder I didn't like to GNC, too. -
Does this happen to anyone else?

Most people on here seem to have been told to drink 64 oz of fluids a day. Not to negate what your nutritionist told you, but as an experiment, you could try increasing your fluids to that amount for a few days and see if that solves the problem. Drinking the 64 oz will not hurt you. -
Hang in there! As frustrating as this is, and any of us would be as frustrated as you at all of these delays and preparations, your time for surgery is coming. Once we have decided to get the surgery, we all want it then. In a relatively short time, however, you will be sleeved and this frustration will be pushed to a far corner of your memory. My best to you. Keep us informed.

Mine is small so I did not need to crush it.
-
Yes. The surgery has no effect on the need for Synthroid.
-
Ask your doctor for the go ahead on full exercise. My surgery was picture perfect, no complications whatsoever and my doctor gave me clearance for all activity at four weeks .
-
Looks good to me.

Frustrated and at a loss.

I'm thinking of you and hoping the procedure takes care of the problem. Hang in there, we are with you. Please let us know how things are going. -
I use Cera Ve every day and it definitely helps. Also important is to drink enough fluids.

lilmissdiva has a thread about starting over. She calls it boot camp. http://www.verticalsleevetalk.com/topic/28139-the-basics-boot-camp/ -
Oh. I was in a hospital. Maybe you should take both. If the pjs irritate your stomach, you may not care what people think about the nightgown.
-
I wore a nightgown so there would be no restriction at my waist.
-
Mine was taken out at the hospital after the second night and just before I was released. It appears different doctors have different time frames.
-
It didn't hurt me at all. It wasn't even uncomfortable, just a little awkward.
-
anyone had a similar issue?

Maybe the July 2009 appointment notes will work. After all, they show you have been overweight for more than the requisite two years. Here's hoping. I have BCBS federal also. You are lucky to have them. -
Check with your doctor. My doctor cleared me for any type or level of exercise at one month.
-
Okay. I can't help you with that.
-
Try a little bit of it, eat slowly and see what happens. In other words, if you control for eating too fast and eating too much, any reaction is due to intolerance.

Support Group, who attends one?

I go every month. Our moderator has a wonderful variety of people she invites to inform us: personal trainers, yoga instructors, the surgeons, cooks, etc. One time she brought a "fat suit" for us to try on to demonstrate how much weight some of us had lost and to encourage those who were still on the road to losing the weight. Sometimes we play games involving knowing facts about Protein, cooking, nutrition values, physical and workout matters, etc. In warm weather, we meet early to take a walk through the neighborhood. I'll pass on to her the ideas of a psych. professional and the Bariatric Advantage folks. Thank you. -
when to incorporate strength training post-op

My doctor approved all types of exercise/exertion at the four week mark. Of course, I had absolutely no complications with the surgery. -
Good call.
-
Yes I have. I am eight months out and have had no problems. After three episodes of throwing up because of eating too much, I have learned to slow down after a few bites so that I have time to sense when I need to stop. I can drink copious amounts of liquids with no problems. You will learn to pay attention to your stomach.
-
I was in the same eating situation you are.
-
Please call your surgeon. It may be nothing at all but it doesn't hurt to run it by him/her.

How far out are you? I'm fortunate because I have been able to take mine very regularly. Is the problem remembering to take the meds? If so, try using a pill box with the seven compartments for the pills for one week. I actually use two of those, so I only have to figure out all of my meds once every two weeks. The pill boxes keep me organized and I put them right on the kitchen counter next to the coffee maker so I remember to take the pills. I am on autopilot now. Good luck. This is such an important part of keeping us healthy.
