    Food

Tofu should be a mushy and is good protein for solids as well.

    Exercise in the pool?

Watch some water aerobics videos and incorporate those moves into your pool exercise.
  3. Vent away. Your liquid diet will be over soon and will be forgotten shortly afterwards. Hang in there. I hate to bring this up given how you already feel, but are you sure you're allowed coffee at one week? It's acidic and, therefore, hard on the stomach. Everyone has different instructions from their doctor though.

    Emergency Room Visit?

You must be relieved and we are, too. Thanks for the update.

    Emergency Room Visit?

My opinion--go to the ER. You have no idea what is causing these problems and neither do we.

    Questions, Questions?!

I never get hungry. Supposedly the doctor cuts out the part of the stomach that "feels hungry." I don't know about that, I just know I am never hungry. My stomach does not feel different at all.

    Yikes!

You sound very normal. Remember the reasons you are having the surgery. That puts it all back into perspective again.

    help!

Originally I wanted the band, but did some research on the companion band site and was amazed at the many problems with it and the amount of maintenance it takes. I then decided on the sleeve and was congratulated on the change by my surgeon. I am very happy with my choice and the resultant improvements to my health and quality of life.

    Pain Post op Q & A

When I came out of anesthesia in the recovery room, the pain was intense. My first word was "pain" and I remember nothing after that. The recovery room personnel were right there with whatever they use to take away the pain. In short, it was less than 30 seconds of pain. The only other pain I had was when I used my abdominal muscles in the course of living, e.g. getting into or out of bed or bending over. And I really wouldn't even call that pain, more like a 3 on the discomfort scale. That only lasted about one and a half weeks.
  11. Great! You will be fine. How wonderful to have the list to remind you of what you want them to know as you and they go through life. Writing it out may help you focus on those points as you raise them in the future. Too often we forget longer term goals and focus on the here and now.

just a rant about the forums

    I certainly agree.

    Eating

I was allowed to eat yogurt as soon as I wanted to do so. My doctor considered that a liquid. I also didn't have a clear liquid stage and was allowed to eat soft foods after one week. Yazzy is right. There are many sets of rules out there.

    Protein Shakes

I didn't use shakes during pre- or post-op diets. My favorite foods/drinks were: nonfat plain yogurt, Carnation breakfast drink with milk, jello with fruit flavored protein powder mixed in during preparation.

    Loose skin

Some of this depends on your age, too. There isn't a lotion or potion out there that will fix or prevent loose skin.
  16. I was also cleared at four weeks to do whatever I wanted: water aerobics, weight lifting, jogging, running, whatever. However, I had a perfect recuperation, no problems whatsoever. Your doctor is the best judge of your situation.

    In Desperate Need Of Help

I love your attitude about the diet. It is easy to focus negatively on the diet and some do, but two weeks isn't even a blip on the timeline of life. You'll do well.
  18. If you were just sleeved, call the surgeon. If you have been sleeved for a while, call a dermatologist or your primary care physician.
  19. Call and ask the pharmacist. He/she will know the answer.
  20. The incision site pain should not last many more days. Maybe the doctor's office has an alternate pain medication suggestion. As far as the eating and drinking problem goes, many people feel sick at the thought of it. Keep pushing the fluids. At first, you are not expected to be able to get the 64 oz. down. Just drink as much as you can. This means you have to concentrate on drinking the fluids and take a small sip every 5 minutes. Good luck. This doesn't last long and soon will be a distant memory.

    4 months post-op diet help

By one month out, my doctor said I could eat anything that was nutritious--not to mean that you should countermand your doctor's orders, but to let you know you shouldn't be afraid to eat other foods such as those jazzy suggests.
  22. They approved mine in one day.

    Help......trapped gas

My understanding is that there are two types of gas with this surgery. One is the trapped gas left over in your chest from what the doctor introduces to your body during surgery. That gas is not in the digestive system and gas medicines do not help it. The other is the normal type of gas in the digestive system and gas remedies such as Gas X can help it. Someone please correct me if I am wrong.
  24. I had concerns before surgery, too. What I know now is that there have been only three changes to my daily schedule: what and how much I eat, the pills I take and the exercise I get. The result is weight loss and improvements to my health and quality of life. My adjustment period was about one month.
  25. Feel great about your weight loss. Their opinion is meaningless and their manners nonexistent. Their behavior says a lot about them and nothing about you. Hang in there and know you are on a good path.
