  1. Yes, ask your team if they think changing things up a bit might help. The scopolamine patch actually made me nauseous. Not that I think that is your problem, but it illustrates the point that some few of us have other than normal reactions to various drugs.
  2. I doctored up all kinds of things. Mixing protein powder into prepared pudding didn't work for me though. The result was too dry and grainy. Maybe if you made the pudding from a mix yourself and added a little protein powder a little bit more milk as you prepared it? My doctor doesn't sell anything, I know a lot do, but it seems sort of sleazy to me especially given that the prices these doctors charge are sky high.
  3. If your hospital is like the one I used, they provide gowns and slippers. I wore loose fitting clothes to the hospital and wore them home again with only a change of underwear. That, a toothbrush and a book are all I took and I never had a chance to read the book because I slept and walked the whole time. Some on here have said lip moisturizer was also helpful.

Congratulations on your twins! Double the love.

    No Protein Intake

I agree with Brookie, but have one suggestion. Can you tolerate jello? If so, try mixing in some fruit flavored protein powder when you make the jello. It tastes good and will provide at least some protein.
  6. Check with your doctor's office. Mine told me no swimming until the strips came off and the incisions were completely healed over. He cleared me at the one-month visit.

    Raw protein powder

My nutritionist said to use whey protein but I don't recall why. Is it high in carbs?

    Recovery

Had I been a student, I think I could have gone back to school after one week.

    What is wrong?

First, your weight is going to fluctuate. I have had to get used to that idea, too. Second, my guess is that the fruit and other carbs/sugars are sabotaging your diet. My nutritionist explained that the first phases of the diet put you in ketosis. That causes the fat to burn off quickly. If you want to be in ketosis, you must severely limit sugars and carbs. Fruit is full of sugar. I don't know about your Greek and light and fit yogurt. They may be carb heavy. Does the yogurt have fruit or added sugar? Is it 0% fat? Just a thought.

Maybe if your stomach is connected to your reproductive system.

    hello everyone

You will do fine. Don't over-think the hospital experience: take minimal stuff with you to the hospital, for the most part they have what you will need; reassure yourself with the knowledge the hospital does surgery all the time and is well prepared for you; and think of how much better your life will be afterwards.
  13. I would suggest foregoing the coffee. This is why I did. I was used to several cups of coffee and would be tired and perhaps get a headache without it. I gave it up entirely a month before surgery because I did not want to complicate my recuperation with those bad effects.
  14. My husband did not stay overnight and did not need to. In fact, even though he was there from about 9 to 7, there wasn't much he could do for me. Mostly I slept and there was plenty of excellent help at the hospital should I have needed any. What to take to the hospital? As Private Sleever said, not much. I showered before leaving home for the hospital the morning of my surgery, wore something comfortable to the hospital, used hospital gowns, slippers and other supplies while I was there and wore my same outfit home again. The simpler the better in my opinion.
  15. Don't worry about the things you are worried about. You haven't stretched your sleeve and, given that you are complication free at this point, it is unlikely you will have a problem later. I don't know how far along you are, but it appears perhaps only about two weeks. Eating too little is not a concern at this stage. What you need to concentrate on is getting the necessary fluid and protein amounts. If you are doing that you are eating the right quantity. It won't hurt to try one more bite the next time. Believe me, you will know when you have eaten too much and it won't take but a few times to learn what your "full" indicators are and to heed them. The hair falling out is a temporary situation and almost all of us have it happen. My doctor says there is nothing that can be done to keep it from happening, so there is no point in spending time worrying about it.
  16. Try adding a fruit flavored protein powder to jello or adding a chocolate or vanilla protein powder to no sugar added hot chocolate.
  17. It doesn't last long. Soon it will be forgotten.
  18. The way I look at it is this: the sleeve offers an opportunity for a "do over." Once sleeved, you can drop a lot of weight because of the restriction in how much you eat. However, it requires adherence to the rules of good nutrition to lose to goal weight and to keep it off. These are the same rules of good nutrition we were not following before surgery. Some seize the opportunity for the "do over" and some don't. Sorry I can't offer you any particular help. Good luck with your weight loss.

This is a rant, i hope it comes out right...

I haven't seen those comments either. However, I think most comments like that would come from immaturity.

    BCBS Federal -- Waiting

BC/BS Federal is the best. Because you have met all of the requirements, you will be approved fairly quickly.
  23. I didn't wear any either until it was time to go home. The incisions were all up high enough that it didn't matter which style I used for the trip home.
  24. The constipation is not unusual. However, my doctor said Benefiber was more of a long-term solution. There are many short-term solutions as well. I used Smooth Move, which is a tea. Probably others on here have other suggestions. For me, the constipation stage didn't last long but it was a challenge. Good luck and hang in there.

    Help please

I don't know what is going on with you, but recommend you call the surgeon. You may even want to send him/her the picture in case that is relevant to the pain. Don't be reluctant to call. This is what we pay them for.
