  1. I have just inquired about a doctors note which will probably be requested by my employer upon my return. I was a little alarmed to learn that the doctors note will come from the coordinator and not the actual doctor or doctor's office. Does this mean its not official?? I wouldnt want to give it to my employer if it wasnt. To prior Mexico sleevers did anyone have a problem with their Dr. note?

    Doctors Note

Lol wow your employer is super nice!
  3. I had my initial consult for VSG with an awesome doc but turned out my insurance wouldnt cover the surgery. But gallbladder issues was one of my major concerns and he said he was surprised other doctors dont put WLS patients on gallstone meds post op. I will be on a mission to get these meds once Im post op! Has anyone been put on them as a preventative measure?
  4. Really?? I planned on paying via cc. I will have to double check that with my coordinator! Thanks for the heads up
  5. Going to discuss with my job today! Think Ill talk to H.R. first and then my boss. Requesting 2 weeks but going to try to get shorter hours for the 3rd week to help with the transition or at least avoid the traffic for my 70 min commute back home. If they press for an answer ill just say hernia repair or "female issues" Thanks all for the input!
  6. mmmmm darn. My boss is an extremely nosy genius (literally, had a doctrine degree from ivy leauge college at like the age of like 12 or something) Im pretty sure she will question openly if recovery time doesnt add up. Perhaps I will use hernia repair exuse.......
  7. Im known in the office for always being on a diet! They always tease and say dont offer her any sweets she wont eat them. This time I guess they'll just think I finally found a diet that works! HAHAH
  8. Oh I am pondering! big time! My mother had to have hers taken out as well. Ive heard it hurts more than child birth. I had a consult with a doc who said he puts his patients on gallstone meds for the first couple of months post op. Said it reduces your chances to <3%. My current doc refuses to prescribe them so Ill be on the hunt for a doc who will post op!
  9. Yes I think Im leaning towards taking 2 weeks of leave. Not sure if its worth going for short term disability though. And I think Im going to say Im having my gallbladder taken out if people really press. Everyone here is very nosey so Im sure they will. I hope my doctors note is discreet
  10. Geesh 12 hr. days?! Im not working that long ::side note you're so pretty and Go AGGIEZ::
  11. Hello all! Glad to have found this group. 25 years old here out of NJ/NY area. Would love to have someone to consult with that has been through this experience before. Im in the preliminary stage and have my first consult this week. Any newly skinny divas in the NJ/NY area?

  15. Hello sleevers, I have decided to go with Dr. Garcia through Ready4Achange. Wondering if anyone else is going to be going down in the month of March as well. Trying to do this solo but wouldnt mind a buddy in the same shoes! I would also love to hear from others who have been sleeved by Dr. Garcia Thanks!

    Recovery Time

wow@the skinny cow the most Ive ever heard is 3 weeks. At least you'll be fully recovered for sure!
  18. Going to tell my mom shell understand since she had the bypass 10 years ago and just pray she doesnt tell the whole entire family. And can we schedule a 3 way?? @RahV
  19. @jewel Did you tell your family you were going down to do it anyway yet? I would keep my mouth closed until I came back! And may I ask why you changed docs? @rahnava I would love to speak with you if possible about your experience with Dr.Garcia!
  20. So you're still going for it! Yay. I talked to a coordinator today and was told Dr. Garcia has days open in mid March. And I Only told one of my coworkers. Shes cool and a big girl as well so she gets it. I wouldnt dare tell by boss the truth. She would announce it at our weekly staff meeting! Dont want any negative energy anway. Did you book your flight? Still going with Dr. Garcia?
  21. Hello all, I have just been officially denied by my insurance company (my employer has an exclusion due to small size) Im now looking at the Mexico self pay option. Im crossed some doctors off of my list and Dr. Garcia is currently at the top. Mexico is a long way and most of my friends and fam dont have a passport anyway. When you get it done here in the US they tell you to have a support team, someone to pick you up, etc. I definitely wouldnt want nay-sayers bad energy and prefer to tell as little people as possible. Im wondering if anyone has gone it solo???
  22. Sorry you're going through this! We would all really like an update. I am currently considering your doc. Do you think he is to blame at all? Would you recommend him still?

    Solo Sleevers?

Holy Moly @fox. You didnt tell a single soul? You're superwoman! What did you tell your job out of curiosity? My boss is utterly nosey and Im sure she will repeatedly ask what kind of surgery Im having and announce it at our weekly staff meeting LOL
  24. awww man @jewel that sucks! I can totally understand though. As an african american we usually dont agree with going under the knife if you dont have to! If I do it, I wouldnt really want to tell my family until after!
