  1. So I was banded on 4/27, had my first fill of 3 cc's on 6/08. Up until 2 weeks ago, I didn't feel much... I was eating about half maybe a slight bit more, of the amount of food that I could eat pre-band. I was patient though, taking my surgeons advice of not to expect a big difference for the first six months... I'd lost about 20 lbs total up until 2 weeks ago. Then... All of a sudden I woke up on a Tuesday morning two weeks ago and BAM! For the first time I felt tight, I had a couple of stuck episodes and had to begin eating much more slowly with much smaller bites. I hadn't had another fill since June, but for some reason it kicked in. Maybe additional liquid from the tube? Who knows.... Anyhow, I had an appt with my surgeon last Wednesday for another fill. When I explained everything, he said he normally fills 2 cc's, but thought that I would only need 1 cc, and I agreed. Since then I'm a little tighter and cannot take more than a few bites of everything before I feel full. Granted, it's not the stuffed feeling of pre-band, but it is a sensation of full and satisfied that keeps you from eating anymore. It's annoying because my eyes want more, but fantastic because I know it's not needed. I've lost about 6 lbs just in the past two weeks and I finally feel like the band is being the tool that it is meant to be. Because of the limited quantity, I feel obligated to make sure that everything that I put in my mouth has nutritional value and isn't garbage. I'm excited for the first time since surgery and all that I can say is this is truly a slow process that one needs patience for.
  2. Thank you! It's relieving.

    Need Help And Info

Thank goodness for this forum... I've had one fill, felt what I think was restriction for about two days and then it went away. My surgeon prewarned me that I was going to feel that. He said it was completely normal. My second fill is at the end of August and then I will have 5 cc's in my band. All that I can say is "wow! This takes patience!" I'm eating less than before surgery, which is great, but the scale definitely doesn't move quick enough. I'm not gaining though, so I'm not freaking out... Just waiting patiently for my fills and trying to make the smartest choices that I can based solely on will power. I think I would definitely feel like I've failed if I wasn't able to read so many posts from people that have already experienced or are currently experiencing this.
  4. I was banded on 4/26. I lost 14 lbs with the pre-op and post-op diets and stopped losing about 3-4 weeks ago. I'm going for my first fill today and really hoping that my results improve. I'm supposed to get three cc's today. I keep reading that I shouldn't expect much weight loss in the beginning, but I'm hoping that I'm getting past the beginning point. I think it's a bit depressing and im trying to hang in there.
  5. Hi, I have PCOS and I was banded on April 26th. I lost 14 lbs with the preop diet and recovery and have not had a fill yet. About 3 weeks ago my weight loss stopped and it has fluctuated a pound or two up and down but basically I'm stuck at 14 lbs. I get my first fill next week, so I'm hoping that will make a difference.

    Had No Idea

I was also banded on 4/26 and it has been such a long healing process. Day 3 and 4 were the worst. I have alot of port pain and it feels swollen in that area. I can feel the port move and shift (it feels as if I have a 7 month baby inside of me when it shifts). It's getting a little bit better day by day, but definitely not back to normal and definitely taking longer than expected. Gas hasn't been such a horrible issue, only port incision pain and shifting. I'm off my pain medicine and back to work today.. I have a desk job, so it isn't so bad. I honestly didn't think recovery would be this hard.
  7. Does anyone else feel something move when they get out of bed? I'm not sure if this is normal, but when I get out of bed, I can literally feel something shift around the area of my large incision. Not sure of what it might be.

    4 Days Post Op

Really? That kind of freaks me out,Iike my port is loose or something for it to shift when I get out of bed. Isn't that kind of dangerous?

    4 Days Post Op

Are we the only ones experiencing this?

    4 Days Post Op

I agree. Each day I do feel a little bit more normal. But this is just a strange feeling. I also didn't think recovery would be this lengthy.

    3Rd Day With Band

I am on my second day. My surgery was yesterday morning. I'm still in some pain and tightness around the incisions. I can't eat jello either. I've only been eating broth and water and diet snapple. I was told only clear liquids for 2-3 days. I also have some remorse, but I know that this won't be a handicap, but a benefit.
  12. Hello! Tomorrow is the day for me... the day that I saw as so far in the distance when the thought of getting a lap band first came into my mind. I'm nervous.. excited... a little bit afraid to fail, but I also have confidence that I'm going to be able to do it. This will be my first surgery, so not sure what to expect. I've been on liquids now for a week and today I'm sipping on broth all day...... Oh how I long for a salad...lol
