Cotton socks and your own pillow. I also brought my iPod to help with the anxiety I was feeling.

Even after you reach the green zone you shouldn't have any problems swallowing a birth control pill. So, I wouldn't worry about that. Its small enough to go through with ease. As the. Previous post stated, I've never had any issues swallowing any pills and I take huge capsules.

Post Surgery: Why Am I Seeing More And More Surgeons Put Saline In The Band At The Time Of Surgery?
lillieb53 replied to marketingdude's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was banded in the US and my surgeon also added 3cc at the time of surgery. But I'm sorry to report that you still go through bandster hell. At least I did. -
The shoulder pain is likely from gas, so those pain medications will do nothing for that type of pain. Try a product with simethicone, like GasX or an equivalent. Also, hot tea and a lot of walking worked best for me.

Latin Food Questions

Hopefully you will still be able to eat the things you enjoy as I am, just in smaller portions. Life would not be complete without good Mexican/Latin food -
Latin Food Questions
lillieb53 replied to sharklove82's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I eat tamales often. I eat 2 or 3 and then I'm more than full. I've had no problems getting them down. -
I'm on my 4th fill and I can still swallow the gelcaps with no problem.

That 0.5 cc can help tremendously. If liquids are going down fine after the unfill And you're not having a lot of belching you should be fine. I wouldn't skip to solids until you're supposed to.

Almost 2 Weeks & Not Full
lillieb53 replied to Fat_Librarian's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I hate to be the bearer or bad news but, unless you're one of the lucky few, you won't feel any restriction after the first fill. It took me 3 fills before I felt anything and I could still eat two cups without any stuck episodes or PBing. I'm currently on fill 4 and actually get full after 1& 1/2 cups. Hopefully the next fill will get me into the green zone. Just hang in there! It won't be overnight but, it will come. -
My Stomach Literally Broke Open
lillieb53 replied to model's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm not sure about your particular case of course but, I do know for sure that a surgery can be performed to replace a port and tubing without removing the band from the stomach. My surgeon, Dr Kenneth Hollis, of Houston, TX, USA does port replacements. Not sure what he would say about one that was placed in Mexico. Good luck! -
Full, Yet Hungry?
lillieb53 replied to Fat_Librarian's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If you're just one day post op you should be on all liquids. In the liquid stage the 30 minute rule is null. Liquids are liquids. It's ok to drink as often and constant as you wish. Hydration is important for overall health and healing. So is protein. It's hard to get them both in right after surgery but, do your best. Congratulations and much success and your journey! -
My surgeon did also of the band, hernia, barium swallow and various organs.

Paintballing With The Band
lillieb53 replied to Conley's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You may want to consult with your md before mounting that pack on your back. At 4 weeks I was still on restriction and couldn't carry/lift more than 25 lbs. -
Paintballing With The Band
lillieb53 replied to Conley's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have no input when it comes to the high impact physical activity but, as far as the constant hydration you shouldn't have a problem. I gulp down 32 oz of water all the time with no issues. Water flows right through the band and unless you've just eaten prior to drinking nothing obstructs it. Good luck with your game! -
There are no foods you can't have. But, there are some foods you may not be able to tolerate without getting stuck. Personally, I have not encountered anything that I can't have. I can have all the things you've listed with no problems and my doctor says everything is ok with moderation. So, I say go ahead and have a little ziti and the asparagus and broccoli are great food choices (although they may make you a little gassy).

Need Help. 5 Years Post-Op
lillieb53 replied to aves7's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I understand the financial restraints but, it seems as though you need a fill and maybe a check up. All offices don't charge $125. I just found an office here on Dallas, TX that does fills for $50. I suggest you call around to bariatric offices in your city. Maybe you can find a price that you can handle. Good Luck! -
I had the same problem. I started using Miralax in one of my daily drinks....problem solved.

It's normally tucked behind the organs. Mine had actually popped out and was in front and I could see it bulging through my skin. I had a revision surgery 4 months after the initial surgery and recovery was hell. It was put back in place and mesh was installed to prevent it from happening again.

Post Op Exam, Dr Hollis
lillieb53 replied to Kathie52's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If you're speaking of Dr. Kenneth Hollis of Houston, TX, you will mainly see the NP, Betty. She'll document your progress, give some nutritional information and answer any questions you may have. Then Dr. Hollis comes and Looks at inscisions and answers any question you may have of him. If you're a True Result patient your aftercare (fills) is then turned over to them. You won't see Dr. Hollis again unless you have a concern. -
Preparing For Fill...
lillieb53 replied to SherriD1961's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My only instruction has been to not eat 1-2 hours prior to the fill. I've had three so far. -
It was for me until I tried Miralax. Problem solved.
-
I wasn't regular even before the surgery. Afterwards i would easily go 4-5 days without going. I tried stool softeners and they did nothing. I tried Miralax powder and struck gold. A capful in any liquid once daily and I am finally regular for the first time in my life.

Unable To Fill Because Can't Access Port!
lillieb53 replied to neece1's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I haven't had it happen personally but I have heard it happen to others. Did the doc attempt to use a fluoroscope? My doctor's office used it to locate my port's exact position so they didnt have to prick me more than once after I had a revision surgery and was still sore in the abdomen. -
How To Lose Last 20 Pounds For First Goal???
lillieb53 replied to JanellesMommy8210's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Getting a fill will help you get to that first goal. Congrats on the first 31 lbs. That's great for not having a fill. Do you have any restriction?
