So I was banded on April 3rd. I am just really sore the thing that hurts the most is my throat from the breathing tube. I had some complications when they were putting me under but everyone in the op room was wonderful. The surgery was sucessful and my doctor was very surprised! how everything looked. He said I looked great not too much fat around the stomach and hardly any around the liver, so thats always good. Anyway for future banders good luck, it is well worth it once it is done.

Hi I have tricare prime South which honestly they are all the same when it comes to weight loss surgery. All I did was go to my primary care she referred me to the seminar because my bmi was 54 and I am only 4ft 11in, I went to the seminar and started completing everything that the surgeon required, I had to pay the program fee of $275.00 and my phyciatric evaluation which was $350.00 and that was it tricare covered everything else, I had no other illnesses just a bmi of 54 I told my primary care all the programs I had tried to loose weight she wrote them down and that was it. I was approved for surgery and I just got my band on the 3rd of April. I am not 100% sure that is how it will work for you but I don't see why not you have more alements then I did so your more of a candidate than I was. Good luck I hope this helped. My husband is stationed at Fort Stewart here in Georgia if that helps.

Well today is the fourth day of my pre op diet, I am so tired of chicken broth but I know it is well worth it. (I have two weeks of complete liquids no solids and protein shakes) I have surgery on April 3rd any encouraging words from anyone right now would be great to keep my momentum up through this diet.

All Cleared For April 4Th Surgery
COCAMOKIS replied to nickintexas75's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I know the feeling you have because my surgery is on the 3rd of April and I am excited yet nervous. I want to make sure I am doing everything correct also I had to do a two week all liquid diet, so your lucky you havent had to do the pre-op diet that long. Congrats on the all clear. -
Thank you everyone, I made it to day 8 and I am still striving. I noticed I get really hungry around dinner time as well I think that is because of my routine that I had prior to the two week diet. I meet with my surgon on Thursday to go over everything and to ask any questions that I may have about the surgery then April 3rd here I come!

Thank You everyone! I am on day 6 and it is a little easier because now it's like second nature to just wake up and do the same thing everyday. I am allowed suger free jello, sugar free pudding but only in the box so I have to make it with skim milk and a scoop of protein powder in it. It was good for like the first day and after that I just didn't want it. I like the protein shakes with milk though because they are really nasty with water. I have chicken broth and I drink a lot of crystal light to stay hydrated and it is sugar free, carb free and low calories. Good luck to everyone and please post when you have your surgery!

So I am on day 6 of the pre-op diet and it has gotten easier I am not missing food anymore. Also I am only 9 days away from surgery! April 3rd is coming quick I have registered for surgery and I have went out and bought some loose clothes to come home in and a pillow just for my tummy I can't wait until the day that I can go to the hospital because then once it's done I can start working on letting my alter ego out (the skinny me) I'm not crazy or anything like that, trust I wouldn't be having the surgery if I was.....lol I have been waiting all my life to find something that would help me to loose this weight, and believe me I have tried everything that anyone can think of from the south beach diet to alli to weight watchers. All I did was throw money away but I will not fail at anything I just can't so I keep trying and I will continue to try until I loose the weight! Happy banding everyone

Getting Banded On April 2Nd
COCAMOKIS replied to johnnycantrock's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
That's awesome! Congrats I get banded on April the 3rd so I am a day after you and I can't wait I have only been trying to get surgery for a year but it has been well worth the wait. I had some other health issues that I had to get under control before I could get the surgery. Right now I am in my two week diet and it is day 3 and It is getting easier by the day. Good luck to you -
Did U Tell Or Not? If Not..what Was Your Story?
COCAMOKIS replied to iriegirl's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I told my family because they are always concerned for me and I thought by telling them what I was going to do they would think about doing the same and they have. I of course told my boss and one co worker and that is because my co worker had it done already and my boss needed to know because I needed the time off. I made the mistake of telling my mother in law during a conversation about weight loss and I have had nothing but negative feed back the normal question of "why can't you do it on your own" and then she started calling me fat to my face so I stopped telling anyone else that doesn't matter or that I don't have a very close relationship with. Needless to say my husband was very upset that she would react that way and we now don't go over there at all which is sad because now our son doesn't see her either. Anyway the bottom line is pick and choose who you want to tell if you have someone in your life that you know will be supportive and your very close to then tell them, you could use all the support you can get, but if they are not that close and their opinion doesn't matter then don't tell them let them be envious....lol Good luck (on my two week diet for surgery on 4/3/12) -
Pre-Op Today Surgery Friday!!! So Excited!!!
COCAMOKIS replied to nicole1095's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I am not in Texas but I am in Georgia. Good luck I have surgery the 3rd of April so I am on the two week liquid diet. Happy banding to you -
So I started this journey on 5/25/11 went through all the classes and seminars, then I was told I had to take additional therapy for O.C.D and I had to take 2-4 sessions for 4-6 months well I finally was cleared on 1/16/12 to have my surgery and at that time I scheduled my surgery date which was 2/7/12 but On Monday I did my pre-op surgery and paid my program fee, I got a call yesterday from my surgen stating I have to post pone the surgery because my hemoglobin is 7.3 and I need to bring it up to atleast 10 before I can have the surgery. So he emailed me a game plan on what I should do and his game plan is going to take another 4 MONTHS! I swear I have been that one patient that everything goes wrong with prior to surgery, now I am kind of feeling like a circus because I have to jump through hoops to get help with getting healthy. go figure!
-
So It didn't take 4 months like I thought I was just cleared on 3/16 for surgery again and I should be making my surgery date on Monday. I have everything completed though all my insurance approvals and everything I am excited I just hope this time I am going to get the surgery and nothing else comes up. I am excited and so ready to have a summer long of getting healthy and working out. I even got into some classes at the gym to make sure I am doing everything in my power to have this work. Long time waiting but there is light at the end of the tunnel

II had went to my PCP today and had more blood work done, and my hemoglobin was up from Monday why my pre op blood work was done so my surgen said if I can get my hemo to 10 then I still maybe able to have the surgery in feb or early part of March. I go back for another blood test on Feb 8th hopefully I will be all set, keeping my fingers crossed!
-
yes, I have anemia I didn't think it would take 4 months to get my levels to 10 seeing that my levels are only 7.3 but I guess I was wrong.

I am on day two of the Pre-Op diet and I tell you that first day is sooooooo hard but it was a little better today the trick is to not think about food, I know I know it's hard but I kept busy I am just worried about when I get home and I am not so busy. That is when it get's really hard but I am making it with a lot of support. Did anyone else have similar issues or what problems did you have if any? **Couting down the days**

Psych. Evaluation Before Surgery (Do's & Don'ts)
COCAMOKIS replied to PattyGirl66's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was completely honest during my evaluation and I ended up having to do additional pschyology in which i finished a couple weeks ago and now I have my surgery scheduled. It wasn't so bad to have the additional, I had to do 2-4 sessions for 4-6 months the reason I had to do it is because I have O.C.D (yes I love to clean!) I don't have trouble eating out or anything sever like that it is totally because I love to clean...lol although I didn't agree with the diagnosis I did it anyway and it went by pretty quick.
