Was banded jan 31st then had the tubing rip down the seam..total loss of restriction for 5 weeks. I had SDS and I'm finally enjoying a working band and weekly weight loss. Yaay!! I have 4 lbs to go til I'm back at my wedding wt of 239. It feels horrible admiring that, but even worse was the 271 I allowed myself to get to before surgery. I'm actually starting to feel confident and a little sexy again. Never give up.

Hi everyone! I'm a jan2012 bandster looking for a community of friends and support. I'm using an iPod and don't see an option to add friends... Anyone want to add me? -
Ms73, Can you tell me an avg days food intake using those specs? I'm having difficulty finding a healthy balance of band friendly foods. Thanks!

What Would You Do If Something Happened To Your Band?
LauRN replied to spoiltmom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was banded the end of January, was in the zone, had lost 30 lbs. I developed a leak and have been an entire miserable month without my band. I'm having it repaired tuesday. I have been starving and depressed, have binged, been anxious and gained some. I don't know how much but I FEEL HORRIBLE. I never want free reign again. I'm such an addict. The initial adjustment to banding was difficult but this is so much worse. -
Hi all! I was banded in Jan and have had 2 fills. All of a sudden I'm not feeling full, but "stuck" and then regurg. I'm waiting forever between tiny bites. Sometimes baby food barely goes down. What now? I'm hungry!
-
No doubt! But learning curves lead to "dangerous curves ahead" meeeeeow. lol
-
So new friends.. My "stuck" issue was me eating to fast and too much. I went back to my baby spoon with 2 oz measured food at the table with no distractions. What do ya know... (leaves of change..lol)

Hi Larch! Slider foods include (but not limited to) ice cream, chocolate, mashed potato, crackers... Foods that go down ..and through..your band with NO restriction. They "slide on thru" and can allow you to gain weight

Thank you so much everyone. You've been very helpful! Hugs

Hi Byrd, I'm new at this but I find after a fill I drink sips of water to "prep" before I eat and then I stick with yogurt or cottage cheese going SOOOO slowly, otherwise it won't stay down. I just bought a terrific cookbook from amazon .. Recipes for after bariatric surgery. It's great and keeps me from getting too bored. Hope this helps. It's certainly a learning process!

So happy for you too! Your loss is terrific!

Absolutely feel thinner! It's so nice to get on the scale and not see it go up and down. I feel like a new person. Beautiful even. No longer a fat failure. Thank God that's over and the journey is "on"!! I'm here waiting in Dr office for fill #2. Not sure if it's necessary but some foods I get only a few bites and others I can eat a "normal" portion.

Hi Ladybandito, Things are going better every day. I'm learning how to take TEENY TINY bites...not just little ones..lol! I'm down a total of 23 lbs and one pant size. My second fill is in a couple of days. I think that one will do it. My Drs here are taking great care of me! Where are you in the journey?
-
Irushgreene... I hear your frustration but don't give up! Your body could be doing some reorganizing. It's building muscle as you work out and making sure there's no famine. Is 1000 calories a day enough? You probably know if you go too low your body will hold on to it's resources. Keep up with all of the great changes you've made as they will pay off! Listen to your cheerleaders when the path becomes difficult. Most of all remember YOU ARE WORTH IT!!

I agree..this is Sooo hard! I wish I was having difficulty eating. Lol.. Why would that luck start now? I'm just trying to hold on as well. It's very nice to be down a size in pants. I return to work this week- can't wait because at home i want to snack all day. My first fill is on March 1st. I pray it works..I cant be a diet failure for any more of my life. Bless you all.
-
Nice!! How has your first year gone? I get my first fill on march 1st. Ive gotta admit that I'm nervous about yet another change.
-
Well.. Here goes! Final preparations, packing, etc. Exciting! I fly out of NH to Mexico on Sunday.

Hi MaryDJ, My doctor only required one week, but I put on a few extra pounds over the holidays, so it's the only way to get it off in time (for me). The one week prior to surgery is not about wt loss per say, but shrinking the fatty liver so it's not in the way during band placement..
-
That's FANTASTIC!! Congradulations! I can't wait until this liquid diet is over.. I'm tired of being hungry..not something Im used to..lol. I look forward to hearing about your success. Keep up the great work.

You're in my prayers for a safe surgery and comfortable recovery. Just keep in mind.. Pain is easier to contol if you stay on top of it, so communicate with your nurses- ask questions, advocate for yourself, know what meds are available for pain, gas, nausea, etc and how often they are available. Don't be afraid to ask for ice, warm blankets, or help repositioning for comfort. It will all make a big difference

I,too, am being banded on 1/31. The shakes are a big adjustment but worth the effort. Don't give up! The rewards will be too numerous to count!
