  1. Ok guys heres my situation: Abt two months ago I got a tightening which finally gave me enough restriction to really start losing weight. before that I had only lost 20lbs since being banded in january. Anyways I feel like in the past few weeks I may have gotten even tighter if thats possible... I can no longer eat much in the mornings, and when I do, it ruins my whole day because anything I eat the whole day keeps coming up, and I slime a lot. I am scared to loosen up because I don't want to go back to losing really slowly, yet I don't know if I can continue like this. Is there anything I can do to help myself without loosening? am I just too tight? the wierd thing is that at night sometimes I can really eat a lot (not fast, but if I take my time I can consume large portions...) If anyone can sort all of this out and make sense of it, I would be really grateful!
  2. I will try these suggestions and see what happens in the next day or 2. thanks for caring and sharing!
  3. Thank you everyone for your input. This morning I tried to stick with only liquids. I had a tiny bit of Snapple and although I didnt pb it kept going up and down and I was burping on it (I get that a lot with Snapple) then I tried orange juice and it went right down... I'm wondering if Snapple is an issue? Its hard for me to pinpoint what I usually eat in the morning because I try a little bit of anything. Like I might have 1 or 2 crackers, or a bit of dry cereal, some yogurt, or a mini potato puff. The other day I had a bit of fat-free sugar-free ice cream and couldn't keep it down even though its normally a slider food! also at night if I drink anything before bed I simply cant go to sleep because I feel it and I keep burping on it and it goes up and down a lot. I am thinking of getting a 1/4 cc out as many of you suggested, but I am still puzzled as to why the band should get tighter with time. I thought it would get looser as you lose weight!
  4. Honestly it sounds like your not tight enough. I was banded 4 and a half months ago, and for the first 3 months it was really slow going and I had plateaus. Then I got tighter and suddenly...woooooo I lost 20 pounds in the next 6 weeks... Its hard to know if your tight enough or should get another fill but as soon as you get there you know it was what you needed.
  5. Hi, I have been on the liquid diet for a week and a half now. I have lost about 10 or 12 pounds so far. I have been drinking the glucerna drinks (5 a day) for the most part. I have been getting kinda of sick of the whole thing and I started to do a bit of cheating. I'm not sure if this is bad or not. I have been substituting abt 1 drink a day (200 cal, 10 protein) for an almost equivalent solid, such as chicken, or veggie burgers. the sodium is a bit higher maybe 300 or 400 mg. but calories a bit less (120)... I'm still losing weight so does this matter? is there any real reason that I need to be drinking rather than eating?
  6. I have this nasty feeling that moves up from my stomach straight to my throat. I feels like it might be reflux but I have no idea since I never had it before. My food is staying down though. Is this normal? is it reflux? and will it go away? also is there anything I can do to relieve this and what will make it worse?

    So Frustrated...

Honey I totally feel for you. I was banded yesterday and I have no strength... I am pretty tough usually but when your in this kind of shape the slightest feeling of not being taken in to consideration, and others not understanding what your going through can be an emotional disaster. so go ahead and cry and tell them exactly how you feel. Because they feel fine and obviously do not understand whats going on in your head or stomach. It's not easy to feel the pain of others crying will probably have an effect on them though good luck... and remember it will get better for both of us!!

    First Two Weeks...

Hi, I just got banded yesterday and I feel like crap. tons of pressure and gas... I can hardly stand up or sit down and have to get on my knees before standing up. My surgeon cut at my belly button and my upper and lower stomachs are rubbing when I move and causing alot of pain at that site. Is all this normal? any suggestions to end my misery???
  9. I am so relieved to hear you were ok and all went well. I am in the same boat as you, being banded mon morning. I was great for the first pre op week, lost like 10 lbs and then I started to cheat here and there.. long story short I am back to abt a 6 lb total loss.. my bmi is also low 40's do you think I will have lost enough weight?? I'm getting super nervous!!
  10. Hi, I am going to be banded on 1/23. I have been waiting forever for this day so I am sooo excited but completely nervous. I have never been in surgery before so the whole experience is new to me. I have been on liquid diet for a week and a half now and I am getting used to it, yet losing patients with it as well. I am so ready to just do it. I am also petrified to make to move and have this foreign device inside of me being "banded" seems a bit scary.
  11. I don't understand. Liquids shrink the liver but solids won't even if they have the same nutritional value?
