Did you do well with the band at the barbeques?
violeteyes37 replied to luvinke's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I did great also. Yesterday I was able to add soft foods so I enjoy a piece of grilled fish (talipia) and drank plenty of water while everyone else had beer. -
Same too you. I love holidays, plus I got to move to soft foods today and was able to have some grilled fish. Today was a great day.

Not Losing Much!!
violeteyes37 replied to Shrinkin'Sistah's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Serena: My ticker also shows 11lbs that was from preop. I was considering changing it so that it shows only the weight from surgery but decided not to. I think I will though make a seperate line in my signature that is more accurate. I have seen others do this. 254/243/225/170. PSCG Preop Surgery Current Goal -
I chose lapband because I couldnt deal with the thought that something might happen to me and my kids would be left without their mom. My luck isnt good enough to gamble with the odds of dying from bypass.

bigbaby: Have you noticed how skinny she is and she gets to help decide if someone will have surgery.

They are finally going to show a lapband patient on next weeks show. Also on this week episode a lady was having a revision and they said her first surgery was a malina band? What is that?

WASaBubble Butt: I have been drinking this brand from GNC. Can you look at the label and tell me if this one is ok. I thought it was based on the carbs, caloires and sugar. I want to try it in the chocolate and vanilla if its ok. GNC Pro Performance® Whey Protein - Unflavored. Sorry I couldnt make the link work. -
GreenGinger: Thanks. I have decided that they would be one of my biggest inspirations. Im going to give them something to talk about allright. They are going to be talking about how much weight I have lost and how good I look. :whoo:

My kids use it all day everyday. Just be careful because I have gotten a virus before and was told that it was from using music sharing sites such as lime wire and also bearshare. But lime wire is suppose to be the most secure with less chance of getting a virus.

I have searched the threads and what I have found people mentioning is that when you start to exercise the weight loss will slow down do to the fact that they are building muscle. My problem is that at this point I want to lose the weight more than I want to gain the muscle. I have to see the scale moving in the right direction. So what Im considering is not exerciseing until I have gotten to onederland, atleast 199.9. I dont want to start exerciseing now and risk losing the weight. I understand that I would be buiding muscle and losing inches, but if the scale stops moving Im going to get really discouraged. Is this a good or bad ideal? :help:

Can you drink to much liquid on liquid stage?
violeteyes37 replied to Bamalama's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I asked the dietician that question about drinking already mixed slimfast. The can is 11oz and your only suppose to have up to 1 cup or 8oz at a time. She said that liquid was ok as long as you take your time to give some of it time to go thru the band. -
The only person at work that I have told is my supervisor and I only told her because I wanted to make sure that if I had any complications and couldnt return to work when planned she would already know the situation before hand. Also I was put on STD so she was going to find out anyway. Most people in my immediate family know though I wish now that I hadnt told some of them. I feel now like Im under a microscope and they are watching to see what I eat and keeping track of how much I lose and sadly would like to see me fail at this. They have so much drama in their life that they only feel better when they can find something about someone else to talk about.

Not Losing Much!!
violeteyes37 replied to Shrinkin'Sistah's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was also banded on the 30th, since surgery I have lost about 13lbs so we are at about the same. The other 11 was on the preop diet. Sounds like you are doing ok to me if not than Im doing something wrong also. We are right on track for the average 2lbs per week and actually a little more. I have also started to get hungry and have my first fill on July 9th. -
Help I need convinced that I should exercise
violeteyes37 replied to violeteyes37's topic in Fitness & Exercise
Thanks again, everyone. I do think that Im trying to make up excuses to not exercise. I am going to stop with the excuses and get started. I know that in the long run it is the best thing. Plus it will help to keep me motivated. I dont have to be a work until noon so I just need to drag myself out of the bed a little earlier and get it done. -
Anyone else SUPER cranky??
violeteyes37 replied to michellyoh's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I know I am and my brother keeps reminding me of the fact. My family likes to get together on the weekends and drink and eat and now since I cant be a part of that at this time, I find it easier to keep my distance instead of being tempted by the things I cant have. He called me last night to discuss what I will and will not beable to have the the 4th of July. Im so happy that I will be on soft foods and can have fish, so he is planning me a menu so that I wont feel left out. :hungry: -
Help I need convinced that I should exercise
violeteyes37 replied to violeteyes37's topic in Fitness & Exercise
Travelbug: Im glad to see that Im not alone in my thought process. You have done exactly what I was considering, lose half the weight first and than start tightening up. I think what Im going to try, is to start slow with walking again. I have a walking video from other failed weight loss attempts and see how that goes. Right now Im losing. So once I start exercising Im going to see if the lose stops and if so Im going to stop exercising until I get the weight to start again and get under 200, than start exercising again. Than I may alternate with if while Im not exercising if the weight stops to start exercising and vice versa. Hope this works. Also I think Im going to check out the bodybugg thread and see if this is something that may work for me. It seems to be a bit expensive but Im worth it. My kids are getting older now so its my time. :clap2: -
I have finally been able to sleep on my side though I can still feel the band. My question now is can you ever sleep on your belly again. I tried laying with more weight on the opposite side of my port but Im scared that I may end up on my port and doing some damage. Does anyone else sleep on their stomach and is it ok to do so?

Are VG bands really less likely to slip?
violeteyes37 replied to Alexandra's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I hope this is true because I have the VG also. I am worried about the restriction though. My first fill isnt until July 9th and I cant wait. Im starting to get really hungry. Im sure that if I wanted to I would beable to eat anything, so right now its just pure will power that is keeping me from cheating. -
A-May-zing Bandits July Challenge
violeteyes37 replied to METALBAND's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Im in. I havent started to exercise yet and so this would be a good opportunity to do so. I posed a question on another thread trying to get out of exerciseing but was convinced that it was the best thing to do. Does anyone have any ideals of how we should chart our progress? -
Help I need convinced that I should exercise
violeteyes37 replied to violeteyes37's topic in Fitness & Exercise
Thanks everyone for the info. That exactly want I needed to hear. I wanted to hear that the exercise wouldnt cause my weight loss to stall. Im going to contact a fitness center to get in and speak with a trainer that can help me get started. -
Using another surgery to help cover costs?
violeteyes37 replied to StacieM's topic in Insurance & Financing
I once worked at a insurance company and had heard that some drs who knew the ins and outs of the insurance company and how to code things could get away with codeing what would be plastic surgery under other medical codes. One example was that if a woman had a c-section the dr could do a tummy tuck at the same time and it would be covered. Not sure if the rumors were true or not. -
I thought that I would only need a week. I was wrong. The pain may be gone but the fatigue is there and even though I sit in a chair all day I would not have been able to do it. Im just going back almost 3 weeks later. My advise would be to take atleast 2 weeks just in case. If you feel ready you could go back sooner and than if not your already covered.

Big Band or Little Band ?
violeteyes37 replied to kimmom's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This is a good question because I also have the big band and I just now feel as if I can get back to work. I mean it hasnt been bad but I was suppose to go back to work a week after and it wasnt going to happen. I also can feel the band, atleast I think thats what Im feeling with every step. Its like a heavy feeling in my belly, almost like if I was pregnant. -
LapBand-Does it really work???????
violeteyes37 replied to willbethin's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I have been going thru post all morning reading other peoples experiences with the band and trying to decide if the band works. From everything that I have read I have decided that I cant just expect the band to work, but that I have to make it work. It is not the bands fault if I eat more than I should. It is not the bands fault if I make bad food choices. As has been stated thousands of times before, the band is a tool and the rest is up to you. I was just recently banded and so far have been doing good. I know the day is going to come when I slip and when the scale refuses to move. But I also know that during these times it is going to be up to me to make the right decision to get back on track and to just keep working thru the plateau until my body gives up and decides that shes serious about this this time. So many times before I have given up and made up excuses like maybe Im just meant to be fat. It has been this thought process that has gotten me to the point where I needed to have surgery in the first place. Now that I have had surgery there is noway Im going to fail at this.
