How often do you weigh yourself?
violeteyes37 replied to lizster2007's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Every day sometimes more than once a day. -
What's the last thing you said to your surgeon just before your LB procedure?!
violeteyes37 replied to UN5-3051's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
The last thing I remember saying or doing was when they were about to give me the medicine to make me go to sleep in my iv, I asked how long would it take to make me go to sleep. The nurse told me about 30 seconds. I responded yea right. About 20 seconds later, I remember cranking up laughing because sure enough I was started to feel silly. Than I think I remember them wrapping warm towels around my arms? -
For those of us who weigh in daily!!
violeteyes37 replied to ragdollx19's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Not only do I weigh myself everyday, sometimes more than once a day, I use two different scales, one dial and the other digital just in case the first scale which I step on the digital one first is lying to me. I think Im going to go crazy with this scale thing. :help: -
This morning the scales moved ( I have 2 that I weigh on one digital the other dial.) The digital scale has me at 203.2 the dial about 203. Im so happy but a little unsure. Here is the thing. I got my second fill on Monday so I had to do a day of clear and than a day on full liquids. So Im thinking that I may have lost water due to 2 days of not eating. But the twist is that I also started TOM this morning so I was expecting to have been up a little instead of down. Not sure what to think now. Im going to have my boyfriend hide both scales until Monday and than try again. But for right now Im claiming my 203.2:clap2:

For VG 10 cc Bandsters ONLY
violeteyes37 replied to BeacheeGirl's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I got my second fill today and now I have 6 in my band. Looking at the poll it seems that this may be a good point of restriction. Im hoping so. Guess I really wont know for a couple of days since I have to do clear for 24 than full for 24 before going back to solids. I hope this is better than where I was with 4 because while eating dinner Sunday night I realized that if I wanted to I could have eaten a lot more than what I did. Thats a scary feeling. -
Im there too. Went for my second fill today and though the Dr thinks Im doing great, I feel that the excitement is starting to fade and since the scale is refusing to move much, Im scared I might not get further than this. Some how some way Im going to have to get my butt motivated to work out like I should. I have been doing in home walking a couple of times a week but its just not going to be enough if I want to lose more weight.

Depending on what scale I step on Im either 206.8 or 205. My goal was to hit onederland by September 1, at this rate I dont know if it is going to happen. I brought a new digital scale thinking that it would give me a better reading but the thing seems to not be able to make up its mind. One day it has me lower than 205 and than the next Im back up. My old scale the one that has me at 205 (and has been staying the same) is a dial scale but it is right on the money with the drs scale. I go for my 2nd fill tommorrow so if it proves that the new scale is off (Im hoping it is) its going back to the store. I paid 50 bucks for that thing.

LauraP: I know exactly what you mean, though this is dreams that Im having for real. The other night I was dreaming that I was eating donuts and my reaction was that I knew sooner or later I was going to mess this up and start gaining the weight back. When I woke up I was so happy to find out that it was just a dream and that I hadnt really eaten any donuts. I keep thinking that this is only going to be short lived but than I remind myself that it is going to be different this time because I have my band to make it different. Im hoping that as long as I go to the dr when I should and keep up with my fills that even if I wanted to Im only going to beable to eat so much and than when I start to fell uncomfortable and maybe pb or slime that will jerk me back to reality and what it is that Im suppose to be doing.

Who Has Joined A Gym Or Do You Work Out At Home?
violeteyes37 replied to violeteyes37's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Thanks again for all of the responses. I still have not joined the gym because of money issues, but I have started doing a at home walking program that I enjoy. I know I need to kick it up but right now with my kids going back to school in a couple of weeks the money is too tight. -
Poll: How many have acid reflux problems?
violeteyes37 replied to NJChick's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I use to have it a little before surgery but havent had it not once since surgery. I wish I had known that it was going to go away before I had my perscriptions filled right after surgery. For some reason my insurance didnt pay for the prilosec so I spent 65 dollars for nothing. I took the pills the first couple of days just because but than stopped. -
Help My husband is forcing me to eat.
violeteyes37 replied to sarabluebell's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Its my brother that is trying to force me to eat. I know that it is completely out of concern and nothing else for his reasoning. I think its kind of funny. I found out that he had actually went to our mother with his concerns. Since I had been on the preop diet and than was banded thru the summer holidays he really noticed that I wasnt eating at the barbecues. He knew I had the surgery but I dont think he realized how much my eating would be reduced and how dedicated I was going to be in sticking to the plan. My sister inlaw his wife is planning on having gastric in September ( I tried to talk her out of it) and told him that if he is worried that I dont eat anymore wait until she has her surgery. Her situation is going to be even worse than mine. Im able to eat if I wanted to but that she is probably going to get sick when she tries to eat. I joke with her and tell her that she isnt going to lose any weight at all because he is going to have a feeding tube installed so that he can force feed her. -
My goal is to get to onederland by September 1. Im at 210 now and for the last week and a half the scale has been going up and down the same 3 lbs. I weigh in the morining and it says one thing and than I weigh in the evening and Im up. This is driving me crazy. I think I may have hit my first plateau. I hope this isnt so. I was really hoping that I would get to onderland before I started to plateau. I have been going thru my fitday logs to see if I can see where the problem may be. I think it is actually that Im not eating enough. My job is so stupid. I can have chips and candy bars at my desk but nothing that can be eaten with a utensil. The only time that I can eat is at lunch because my breaks are only 15 mins and the lunch room is a distance away. So if I follow the band rules and eat slowly, I dont have enough time so I just dont get to eat. Than since I dont get home until 9 pm its too late. Does any one have any ideal of what I can eat at my desk besides a protein drink because I have that in the morning for breakfast. :help:

Painkillers without codine
violeteyes37 replied to KarenG.'s topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It seems as if most of the medicine has codine. I told them that codine make me feel sick and they still gave me pain killers with codine. Taking the medicine made me feel worse than the pain so I just didnt take it. If I did it was at night when I was ready to go to bed so that thru the tossing and turning I wouldnt wake up too sore and that way I didnt realize the it made me sick. -
Poll: Are you glad you were banded?
violeteyes37 replied to justwant2lose's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I also love my band and doing gastric never even crossed my mind. I dont understand why people would choose gastic because they are afraid that they cant control themselves. I understand that we all had a control issue in the first place and that is what got us here. But the thing I cant understand is that once I made the decision to have surgery, I also made the decision that I was no longer going to use the excuse of not being able to control myself as a reason for why I was fat. As has been stated a million times and counting, this is a life style change and if your not ready to change your life you shouldnt do neither surgery. -
1 week pre-op diet/ help starving
violeteyes37 replied to tesma's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My dr didnt say stay under a certain amount of calories so I just ate as much of the allowable stuff as needed to keep from feeling as if I was starving. I also ate every 2-3 hrs. That way I was eating again before I even had the chance to get hungry. If your not restricted to a certain amount of calories just eat more of what you can have. It seemed as if I was eating a lot but when I tracked the calories I was only getting about 1000 per day so I did still lose 11lbs post op. Good Luck. -
Any Bandsters who are also AA's?
violeteyes37 replied to LittleBird's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I had the opposite problem. My drinking was one of the biggest contributors to my weight gain. I liked drinking the sugurey stuff. I gave up my habit about 1 week before starting the preop diet. It has been ruff because that is what I did on the weekends and now it seems as if there is nothing to do. Friday nights just arent the same anymore. -
Who Has Joined A Gym Or Do You Work Out At Home?

Thanks for all of the responses. Looks like so far the gym is winning, unless you have the equipment at home. -
Of course your joking. Right?

Clear liquids vs. Full liquids
violeteyes37 replied to jennyl's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would recheck your instructions. 2 weeks of clear liquids seems impossible to do. I only had to do it one day before surgery and just recently one day after my first fill. That one day was tough. :omg: -
I just got my first fill today. I was worried that it may hurt, but I hardly felt anything. The Dr. first numbed the area which was suppose to sting but didnt and than done the fill. He hit the port on the first try and the whole thing was over in less than 5 minutes. I think I could actually fill the band tightening. Cant really describe it but it was a differnt feeling than before. Has anyone else felt this? The water went down fine and I was on my way. Now I have to do 24hrs of clear liquids and than 24hrs of full liquids. I hope the restriction has kicked in because otherwise Im going to be hungry trying to go 24hrs on clear liquids. I didnt have to do liquids 24 hrs before, but the last time I ate anything was at about 7pm on Sunday. Im not scheduled to come back for another fill for 6 weeks. My Dr. will only do them that often. So I hope this one works and last for a while. We'll see. Oh by the way I got 4cc in my VG 10 band. Does that sound like enough to give me any restriction?

Seeing old friends but waiting to lose weight
violeteyes37 replied to fatandoverit's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I know how you feel. I have always worried about running into people from high school. I wasnt so proud of the fact that I didnt go to college right away so I have taken care of that and went back and completed my degree about 2 years ago. Now the issue is my weight. I was about 135lbs in high school. I have avoided going to any reunions. But my 20th reunion will be coming up and I plan on attending that one. -
Congratulations.

I use to enjoy drinking beer before I was banded. So I have had to give up two things food and beer. Im finding it hard to find other things to do. I keep telling myself to go join the gym so while everyone else is enjoying their beer and chips I would have something to do also. But going to the gym just doesnt sound like much fun. :biggrin1: But on a serious note, you are not alone. Some people may just find it hard to admit to.

If you decide to do it take a drink for me. I use to enjoy drinking beer on the weekend before being banded.:biggrin1:

Your food plan of choice.
violeteyes37 replied to tekymom's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
For those who try to stay low carb, about how many carbs do you have per day. I know when I did Atkins the goal was to stay at about 20. Is that still the case when you are low carb with the band or do you have more.
