How Do You Get Past Your Past??
running_scared replied to jayres14's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
First off, I think you look fantastic in both pictures. You also need to remember that your history helped shape the person you are now, so wishing it was different isn't useful. Also, there are a number of people on this site that have their goals at your starting weigh, so really, in the grand scheme of things, it's a non-starter. Good job on your weight loss. -
Could you be retaining water, from swelling?

Didn't you just have surgery? How do you know it hasn't worked?

Are you in Canada, or the US, or somewhere else?

Terrified To Get My First Fill This Week!
running_scared replied to daisychains7's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
You will need to be on liquids for a day or two afterwards, incase you swell. You shouldn't vomit though. If you do vomit, get back to the doctor for a slight unfill. The fill hurts a bit, but just at the skin. We don't have the same kind of nerves in our fat, as we do in our skin. The sensation of the needle entering the port is weird (mine is like a crunch, yuck!). Let them know that you are nervous. Good luck! -
Finally Had My Surgery..-42Lbs
running_scared replied to LULU TATT's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yay! I had to 'scratch around' my LB incisions too. You look really good. At 5 days post op, I was still pale and weak. -
Is it hot to the touch?

I'd ask for a HIDA scan, to check the function of your gallbladder. Best of luck to you.
-
I'd get the fat removed too, if you don't have to pay. Good job!

I Want To Scratch The **** Out Of My Incision Tape And Streatch Marks.....
running_scared replied to ladyjfloral's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I developed a rash, and it took about a week for it to resolve, after the steri strips were off. -
I love that stuff!

Have you tried taking some gas-x. I found it helped. I got the quick dissolve strips.

Buyers Remorse?
running_scared replied to Mlivingston04's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I sometimes feel very similar. food has been the pole around which I orbit, and some days I find it hard to adjust to that. Sometimes I feel like there is now something missing from my life; something that used to tie me down. Most days, I'm happy to not think about food all the time, but other days, I still do think constantly about food, and it makes me a little sad. My step-sister told me that I need to find a new hobby; something to fill my leisure time with; something to look forward to. She is right, I do need to find something else to do, but I am still struggling with what that should be. The smart thing to do for me, would be to fill it with exercise (and maybe some days, it will be what I choose) but currently, I fill it with cruising the internet, and reading inspirational stories on LBT, and thinking about how many new things I will be able to do, once I lose 100 pounds. I have always been very overweight, and so there are so many things that I've never done, so I don't even know to miss them. Somedays, I do a lot of online window shopping; looking at clothes and shoes that I will be able to wear. Good luck on your journey, to find your new 'pole'. I plan on getting some counselling to try and adapt mentally, as healthily as possible, to this new big change. Maybe that might help you as well? -
I am sorry to hear about your trouble with the band. I hope you heal alright.

I, for one, love sodium. It makes food taste better, and keeps me from having to pee on long car trips.

Stop The Madness

Could you create something to work towards, like a nice beach vacation, or a trip somewhere? (Can you tell I like to travel? lol). Or what about buying a fantastic new outfit a size smaller, so you have something to work towards? -

I'm beginning to need another fill. I need to eat more before I'm satisfied (I hate the word satiety, from a purely literary standpoint, lol). Once I'm home again in 2 weeks, I'll be in there, getting topped up! -
