    Starting To Worry!!! :/

My husband had shoulder surgery a few years ago, and at about 1 month post op, he developed an infection at his incision site. It can happen. His was red and hot to the touch. The urgent care doctor said we caught it early, so all he needed was some oral antibiotics for 10 days, and we put polysporin on the incision a few times a day.

What Do You Do When Your Band Is Full?

    What is the unlock feature?

    My Operation Next Wedensday/?

Why does your surgeon recommend the sleeve, versus the band?
  6. I went to hawaii at 3 weeks post op, and it was fine. I just ate a lot of soups and yoghurts, along with other softer foods.
  7. Ooh. I was going to say that apparently burping a lot can indicate that the band is too tight. Hmm. Maybe you should have a slight defill and see if that helps? I wouldn't want to remove the band until I've tried anything else first.

    Lapband Changing My Life

If he is verbally abusive to you, which is what it sounds like, from what you've said, I'd let him move. I think you should stay near your family, and get surgery, and then divorce him. JMHO. Good luck, whatever you chose.

    Lapband Changing My Life

Umm, I think there must be some larger issues within your relationship. I wouldn't spend 6 months living apart from my husband (and I work away from home 2-4 weeks at a time). Is there another, deeper reason why you don't want to move with him?
  10. I was allowed to have runny cream of wheat cereal, made with milk.

I also had to have a stitch clipped off. It's no biggie.

    Lapband Revison To Sleeve

Wow Ashejre, that's a lot of complications, and I'm sorry to hear that. How tall are you? I don't know if I'd get things rerouted to lose 60 pounds, unless I had some other medical problems (diabetes or what have you). I hope you're finally on the road to recovery!

    Lapband And Ibs-Anyone?

I find that making sure I get 30 grams of soluble fibre a day, keeps my IBS at bay.

    Working Out??

My doctor told me not to do anything, other than walking, for 6 weeks. I was cleared for gentile swimming at 3 weeks, but he said not to swim laps or anything, just to float in the pool.

Ooh, I have no suggestions on the plate, but I'm jealous. I'd love to have a leaf, please let us know how you like it.

Seem To Have Developed Candy Addiction

In the 'skinny rules' by Bob from the biggest loser, he says that he thinks artificial sweeteners cause cravings for sweets. Maybe could you try the coffee black for a week, and see if that helps?

    Do I Need Another Fill?

If you are getting hungry quicker than 3 to 4 hours after eating a proper bandster portion, starting with Protein, and all that jazz, then I'd say you need a fill. You are probably losing right now, because you are being super diligent with your calorie intake. Good job, that's hard to do for many people Maybe see if they can give you a smaller fill now. I found a huge difference between 6.2 and 6.4 ccs. I'm contemplating another 0.2cc fill next month, but I'm doing really well at the moment myself.
  21. I should note, that I do count calories, and limit the non-nutritous things, and eat lots of natural and protein-rich foods, but I don't find it hard to do, like I did before surgery.
  22. I still eat whatever I want, and I'm pretty much at the green zone. I just don't eat as much. I can have steak, toast, rice, eggs, pretty much anything. I still drink the odd diet pop, and I even had a beer last night. I think there are some people who have too much fill in their bands, if they have to take super tiny bites, and can't drink easily. I can chug Water like no ones business when I need to, and I don't get stuck. I've lost between 2 and 3 pounds a week since my last fill, and I really don't notice a difference in how I eat, other than I eat less than before (and I stay satisfied longer). The recovery sounds similar with both surgeries, and I don't mind the fills. Also, the band can be continually fine-tuned for years, whereas the sleeve is more one size fits all. Best of luck with your decision.

Had My Pre Op Appt. Made Me More Nervous!

Everyone worries that the band won't work, and about the lifestyle changes, so you're totally normal in that regard. However, they won't put much, if any fill in at the time of surgery, so your stomach has time to heal, and adapt to the new band. You're going to be swollen for a bit after surgery anyway, so you likely won't have much of an appetite or will be full very quickly initially. Then, once you're healed, your appetite is going to come back with a vengeance, and that's called bandster hell. It might take 3 or 4 or more fills before you get to the green zone, and the band will start to help you. Until then, you'll be on your own to count calories, or somehow restrict your intake. Good luck!

    Keeping Weight Off After Removal?

Congratulations on your pregnancy, and I'm sorry to hear about your band. There is a section for people who've had their bands removed, maybe there would be some helpful posts there?
