    Banded In Ontario Canada

SWLC is $17,000 all in. I am being banded Friday in Vancouver through them.

    Time Off

I am taking a month off. I work a sometimes very physical job with 12 hour shifts, so I'll need to be back to 100% before I go back to work. Sometimes I need to lift things that weigh 75 pounds or more above my head.

I Think It's The Green Zone!

My surgeon says that vomiting should be avoided at all costs, as it can cause your band to slip.

    April Bandsters!

I woke up this morning, and I have my period. Will they let me wear my underwear?

    April Bandsters!

My surgeon uses either the 10 or 14 cc Allergan band. He said that most women get the 10 cc band, and most men get the 14 cc band.

    Port Site

My surgeon says he always puts them in the same place, so he always knows where to look for them

    Suddenly Irregular!

Just make sure to gradually increase how much you take, or it can cause the constipation to get worse. And as always, lots and lots of water!

    Suddenly Irregular!

I'd try a water-soluble fibre supplement. I have IBS, and this one has been a godsend: http://www.helpforibs.com/shop/suplmts/acacia.asp It dissolves clear and lump-free in to liquids, it doesn't gel, and it doesn't give me gas either. I think Benefibre is the same type of thing, but it seems much more expensive to me.

    April Bandsters!

Sounds like a bitter motivation. However, I wish you luck.

    April Bandsters!

I am also April 20th. I'm not nervous really, I just want Friday to be here, because I am so sick of the pre-op diet.

    Flying Day After Surgery?

They recommend 48 hours at least, and only if you don't have any clotting issues.
  14. Oh, I am self-pay, so I didn't have to deal with insurance.
  15. They won't do elective surgical procedures on pregnant women.
  16. I had my final (and only in-person) consult with my surgeon yesterday. Only then did he mention that there is an upper BMI cut-off for my surgical clinic, and I am currently 9 pounds above it. I am supper pissed off, as I've had MONTHS to try and lose weight (and I would have) if someone had mentioned it to me. I have been on the pre-op diet of 3 Protein shakes/day and only non-starch veggies (225 calories worth only) since March 31st, and I have lost 9 pounds so far. If I don't lose another 9 pounds before next Friday, my surgery will have to be rescheduled. I am very unimpressed that I am just hearing this now. I am a self-pay, and I am travelling. I am also self-employed, so to get the time off I need, has been a great deal of arranging. I guess I won't even be drinking the Protein shakes now, and I'll just be having steamed veggies for the next 9 days. Anyone have tips on how to cut weight? I won't even know if I am a go or not, until my husband and I have travelled to the surgery clinic, and they weigh me the morning of. Currently, my surgeon has listed me as slightly taller than I am (by 1 inch) so I am at the cut off right now, but if they measure me the morning of, I might get turned away. Has anyone been measured for height the day of surgery, or did they just take your word for it? Thanks. I'm contemplating calling my surgical co-ordinator, and letting her know my displeasure about not hearing about this until 10 days before surgery.

Can I Lose 9 Pounds Before Next Friday?

Well, I got on the scale this morning, and I am back down to the weight I thought I was at I guess I must have been retaining Water when I saw the doctor. I still have a few more pounds to lose to be safe under the correct height, but I think I am going to be fine. Thank you everyone, for all the tips and encouragement.

    April Bandsters!

I don't know about the US (where I assume you are) but all surgeons in Canada (where I am) are at least general surgeons. My surgeon is a gastroenterologist. I'm sorry to hear that there might be something else going on for you, and I hope it was benign, and you are in good health.

Why aren't you taking iron supplements then?

Can I Lose 9 Pounds Before Next Friday?

I did let them know how frustrated and irritated I am, but I wasn't rude, and I didn't yell.

    Not Doing Good

Maybe a fill would help? Or talking with a nutritionist/dietician.

Can I Lose 9 Pounds Before Next Friday?

I was prescribed a medical shake to take, and it has 7 grams of carbs, and 7 grams of fat per serving, and only 18 grams of Protein. I'm going to cut it down to half servings, I guess, and see if that works. They told me not to switch to any other Protein Shake (I think they have a deal with the manufacturers).
