    Banded 4.23.12

I've been taking liquid morphine, and I've noticed that it is very hard to pee for a few hours after I take it. And it makes me itchy everywhere. What are you taking for pain?

    When To Call The Doctor???

Just keep walking. And make sure to keep up on your pain meds, so you can do all that walking. After about 3 days, I was able to start belching.

    April Bandsters!

It seems like some doctors like to keep people overnight, and others would rather have them out the door as soon as they are awake.

    Can You 'feel' Your Band?

I can feel a small pain or fullness when I need to burp.

    Saggy/ Deflated Breast?

I think the unfortunate answer to that is yes. I've lost almost 30 pounds, and my boobs are already deflated looking.

    April Bandsters!

Day 3 seems to be the worst for pain.

Why were you in the hospital so long?

    Losing Like A Woman?

I try not to let someone's offhand comment have such a big affect on me. Maybe next time you see her, let her know that the comment bothered you, and ask her to refrain from making anything but dietary comments in the future.

    April Bandsters!

    You'll do just fine.
  10. I have that as a fear as well. It is a lot of money, but I'm going to continue to work at my health, and I think that makes it worth it.

    April Bandsters!

I believe Shirley had a very rare complication with her slip. The chances of a slip killing you is very very low, infinitesimal really. There are risks with everything in life, but for me, the risk of dying from obesity is much higher than dying from a lap band complication.
  12. Auddie, I'm sorry to hear that you are having issues that they can't resolve. I just got my band last week, but I haven't regretted it for a moment. I am back down to the weight I was on surgery day, despite the visible swelling I still have in my stomach. I can't wait until I can shop in a regular store, and I'm not the fattest person anywhere I go. I have a very physical job, and I'm having trouble with it. I can't wait until I don't get tired from standing. As for the mental aspect, I am ready to do the work. I haven't had any problems yet, but I'm sure I will, and I think I am ready to deal with them head-on, when they arise.
  13. Mine has a 2 or 3 cc prime in it at the moment.
  14. Mine was really white yesterday. I brushed and brushed it. I think it's just from all the soup I've been eating.

    Hospital Stay..how Long???

I was out as soon as I could stand on my own. I wound up back at the hospital for more pain meds 2 days later, so I kind of wish that I had stayed overnight.

    Drank Too Quickly... Eek!

I was eating tomato Soup right before. It was a little salty, which made me thirsty. My stomach is feeling a little better now, but I feel a little like a bonehead; I should have known better. I wasn't chugging it though, just drinking quicker than I should.

    Bmi Too High...

Lulu, very nice video. I wish I had the guts to put myself out there like that. Best of luck on your journey

    54Shirley Passed Away

Wow, how tragic. My thoughts are with her family and friends.
  19. I am in Calgary. Feel free to send me a message if you have more personal questions.

    Thanks To The Veteran Banders

Best of luck with that. I see that you are having that done Friday; I hope you make a speedy recovery.

What happened to your band Jean?

    Thanks To The Veteran Banders

Jean, You've been quite encouraging, and I appreciate it.
  23. I found SWLC first, so that's who I went with. Also, my surgeon lives in Calgary, and so I can see him here for all the appointments and fills. I like that I can see him on short notice as well, without having to travel, whereas with slim band, I don't know where I'd go for the fills. Apparently, I'll be getting about $2000 back from AHS for surgeon and anaesthesia fees. I'm also self-employed, so I'm the administrator for my own HCSA account, so I can write off 100% of the cost. Are you in Calgary?
  24. I had surgery last Friday. For the last couple of days, I've noticed that the skin below my incisions is numb. (By below, I mean actually closer to my feet, not under the steri-strips). Does anyone else have that? It seems really swollen there as well, but there is no bruising or anything, just numbness. I saw a doctor Monday about pain, and he thought everything looked good then. I'm seeing the surgeon again in a week, so I'll ask him about that as well, but I was just wondering if this might be a more common issue. Thanks.

    April Bandsters!

Yes. Did you not get information about the fills process before you had surgery?
