    Feeling weak on pre-op diet

Oh that sucks What does your pre op diet consist of?

    starving

You only had your surgery 4 days ago so I'm guessing you're still on liquids? Unfortunately, you're just going to have to tough through it, especially while you're still healing on the post op phase. Drink as many Protein shakes as you're allowed because protein staves off the hunger longer. Hang in there, it gets easier once you're back on normal food.

No drinking 1 hour before of after eating?

Every doctor seems to have their own "rules" for this one. I was told I could drink right up until the time I start eating then again a half hour after. However, studies have proven the no drinking thing may not even be necessary. food doesn't sit on the band like previously thought, it passes in less than a minute (as long as you are taking small enough bites and pausing between them). Being as food passes through quickly there is nothing to "wash away" as originally thought. So, many surgeons are now allowing band patients to sip liquids during meals and resume normal drinking immediately after.

Does anyone else believe they are addicted to sugar/flour

I don't think I'm addicted to carbs but I definitely am refined sugars/sweets. I can eat bread, Pasta, etc without a problem. But sweets? Candy? Baked goods? Holy heck, it can get super ugly if I'm not careful. I've thrown out entire cakes because after having a single piece I knew if I didn't get rid of it I'd eat the whole thing before bedtime. I made the mistake of buying Reese's miniatures for Easter treats this year- mistake because Reese's is a huge trigger food for me. I ate a ton of those stupid things before I even realized it. I have very little self control when it comes to refined sugar. I have to avoid them entirely.

    Heat

Yes for sure, in fact many find it helps soothe the gas pain.

Is being full a feeling in your chest?

I'm guessing you're feeling swelling from surgery. Give it time and go easy and it should subside as you heal.
  7. 5 days 'til my tummy tuck, skin removal, and hernia repair. I know I should be excited but I'm just dreading this. I just had surgery a month ago and really don't want to do this again so soon- especially since this one is sure to make past surgeries look like a cake walk.

Is being full a feeling in your chest?

What post op diet phase are you on? I'd assume still liquids if only on day 5?

The thought of eating fast food makes me sick.

I used to live on fast food, too. I probably ate McDonalds or Taco Bell at least twice a week- and huge quantities of it too. I absolutely loved it and didn't think twice about having it multiple times a day. Now, it makes me feel nauseous. I tried a McDonalds hamburger about a year ago, took about three bites, and promptly threw the rest away. It just tasted totally gross. If I'm traveling or have no choice but to eat at fast food places I either get a salad or skip the meal entirely. I just really despise the nasty, greasy fast food. I never, ever thought I'd be saying this btw. It's amazing how your tastes change!

    popcorn

It's a slider food for me too so I'm careful about how much I eat. I get the 100 calorie smart pop bags. It's a great munchie food when the rest of my family is eating chips or some other junk food.

    Sex?

Whenever your doctor gave you the OK to have sex again, you can have sex. If in doubt call your doctor's office and ask.

    Is this normal?

Some people can feel their port but it's not possible to feel your band. It's rather deep in your abdominal cavity around your stomach and there's considerable fat and muscle between it and your skin. Whereas the port is sitting on top of your muscle so it's very possible to feel and even see it through the skin. It is possible to feel tubing under certain circumstances. It's also possible you're feeling scar tissue. Talk to your doctor if you're worried and he can make sure everything is as it should be.

    stay filled or unfill?

Granted I had my babies before my band, but being pregnant can be really unpredictable. One day you're feeling great and the next like you've been hit by a truck. I think this is the biggest reason they like to do at least partial unfills because by the time you do vomit, it's too late and you could hurt your band. They're trying to be cautious "just in case".
  14. I honestly don't think there is one single factor, I think it's a package deal. Of course you want an experienced and talented bariatric surgeon, but if he has an awful beside manner then you're going to struggle. You need a good relationship with your surgeon as much as you need a medically superior one. I absolutely adore my surgeon, Dr. Bhesania. Not only is he an extremely gifted surgeon but he is a wonderful man. He talks with me and makes me feel like an important person not just another patient. His compassion and support have been just as crucial to my success as his skill as a surgeon. You need both in a bariatric surgeon- a brain and a heart.

    stay filled or unfill?

Quite honestly, and I don't mean this snottily I mean it sincerely, right now what you want is a bit irrelevant. If your doctor says you need an unfill for the sake of yourself and the baby then why would you "fight" it? It's not worth the risk of something going wrong. Do what your doctors say is best not what you want. Concentrate your baby right now and make your weight secondary. Best wishes.

    What is wrong with me?

I agree with the others, I would seek a counselor. By chronically over eating, you're putting yourself at risk for not only a stretched pouch but a slip. A counselor can help you figure out not only why it's so hard for you but how to regain control. You can do this but you might need a little help to get there. Get the help- you deserve it and the success that comes with it. Best wishes.

    Question for the ladies..........

I'd dump his selfish sorry @ss so he could do whoever and whatever he wanted. Who'd want someone so shallow and selfish they would even consider going outside the relationship just because things got tough?

    How to lower Cholesterol ?

Talk to your nutritionist for sure. It's not horribly common but some people have problems with high cholesterol and/or high blood pressure when on low carb diets. Your nutritionist can help you make the necessary changes to help bring the cholesterol back down.

    Constipation

Stool softners help though stay away from laxatives because they cause cramping. This is TMI, but if it's "right there" but you can't get it out, I would try a suppository or enema. Going forward, drink LOTS of Water and consider a daily Fiber supplement.

    How to lower Cholesterol ?

Are you on a low carb diet? That can contribute to high cholesterol in some people. If you are, see your nutritionist and tell them about your cholesterol issue so they can help you tweak your diet to better fit your needs.

    Left overs not going down

Actually yes, I find I get tighter the longer I go between meals too. In fact if I let myself go from hungry to "omg I'm starving", I find the band tightens up a lot. I keep a Protein bar in my purse just in case I am getting to that point and need something quick to eat.
