    When Can I eat again???

Not until your doctor says you can. Are you on liquids right now? Didn't your doctor give you a post op diet to follow?

    Just curious

I was staving lol. It was a huge challenge. I've lost 206 so far in the last 16 months.
  3. I never, ever thought a time would come I'd lose my appetite let alone struggle to eat enough- but that's exactly what has happened this past week,

    Just curious

I lost a lot my first month, 43 pounds. But I also had a lot to lose and didn't have a pre-op diet either. I also think a big reason I've always consistently lost is because I've counted calories religiously since the day I got home from the hospital.

    All my body aches!

I would take it! It has acetaminophen in it not an NSAID so it's safe. Plus, it'll knock your butt out so you sleep through the worst of it. I've taken Nyquill a couple times and always keep it in the house. I hope you wake tomorrow feeling better ((hugs))
  7. My tummy is feeling noticeably better today. Too bad I spent the entire day in bed fighting an ocular migraine. How ironic.

Chance of Working Again After "Total Failure?"

It's never too late to start over and you're only a "failure" if you give up. You haven't given up and you're not a failure. The very first thing I'd do is call your surgeon and make an appointment. Let him help you get back on track and check your band. I'd also make an appointment with your nutritionist so they can also help you. I also think having realistic expectations of the band will help you a lot. You talk about portion control- that's not the band's job. The band isn't meant to physically stop you from eating anything and this is exactly why it's so important to stick to band sized portions. What the band is supposed to do is allow you to go much longer periods of time without hunger after small meals. Have a look at these links, I really think they'll help a lot: The Lap Band is NOT About Restriction- by Dr. Simpson Tighter Isn't Always Better- by Jean McMillan Hang in there and don't give up! Best wishes.

    All my body aches!

I would call your doctor and have them call you in a prescription anti-nausea med. I keep Zofran on me at all times and it's a lifesaver. They do sell OTC anti-nausea meds but I've found they only work for mild nausea not flu severe nausea. As far as OTC headache reliever, acetaminophen is safe with the band. I personally find it to be totally useless though and got permission from my surgeon to take Advil.

    Lap Band Slippage

A gastro doctor isn't going to know or understand the Lap Band. That would be like having an eye doctor try to diagnose a hearing problem. Totally different specialties and knowledge base. If I were in your shoes, I'd find another bariatric surgeon for a second opinion. Tell them the conflicting information you're getting and see what their opinion is.

    Cost of fills

It all depends on your insurance. They all have their own rules and coverage limitations. You'll have to call your insurance to find out for sure.

    Drank to much and vomited

If you threw up for two hours, you definitely need to let get back into see your doctor ASAP. It's a very real possibility you caused a slip.

    To tattoo or not?

There's no reason why you can't donate blood or get a tattoo after being banded.

    Drug of choice- food

Unfortunately, the band can't help food addiction. The band will allow you to be satisfied on much less food for longer periods of time but it won't change cravings, head hunger, and/or food addiction. There is a popular saying around here "the band goes around your stomach, not your head". My best advice to anyone considering the band is to deal with your psychological issues with food first. Seek counseling or a good support group specifically for food addiction. Too often I see people struggle and fail with the band not because the band didn't do it's job but because they never dealt with their food addiction first. Food addiction is very real and often we need very real professional help to tame it. Best wishes.

Carb Cycling- An Experiment Gone Right!

When I carb cycle, yes. I count net carbs not total carbs. Very much like Atkins.

    Scarring?

I had 5 incisions and the only one you can see even faintly is my port scar. Otherwise they're so small they just faded away.

Not me but I am struggling to eat at all. Apparently surgery kills my appetite. Let us know how you do this week, though!

    Old band new fill STUCK

First, go back to liquids only for at least 24 hours to give your stomach time to calm. It's now likely very irritated and swollen from getting stuck and needs time to relax. Second, do NOT try to make yourself vomit. Ever. You should be avoiding vomiting at all costs because it can and will lead to slips. Third, if this continues, call your doctor. Best wishes.

Surgeon didnt recommend a first fill

He's right, you shouldn't feel restriction, at least not the way most band patients think of restriction. The band isn't supposed to physically stop you from eating anything and this is why it's so important to stick to band sized portions- regardless of how much you can eat. The band is supposed to allow you to go much longer between small meals without hunger. Have a look at the link in my signature, I really think it will help. Best wishes.
  25. I'm realizing how important the compression garments after a tummy tuck. Just in the time it takes to have a shower I swell up a lot but the compression binder brings the swelling right back down. I don't like wearing it but it's definitely doing it's job.
