I can eat 2 weeks post op
DELETE THIS ACCOUNT! replied to ebssss's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
There's a popular saying around here- just because you can eat something doesn't mean you should. Unless your doctor specifically gave you permission to eat normal food this early, you are putting yourself at very real risk for band slips and serious complications. If this is the case then you need to go back to your post op diet and immediately and tell your doctor exactly what you've you done so he can make sure you're ok. -
Have to start over...WFT?!?!!!!!

It sucks but this is very normal. The reason being is your health changes and after a certain amount of time tests and results are considered invalid/expired. It'll be worth it in the end. -
You should be able to eat normal, but you shouldn't have pain. I would call your doc if I were you and request a barium swallow to make sure your band is in the correct position.

Lap Bands are fine with MRI's. I've had a couple since getting my band.
-
Why did the doctor decide you didn't need one? Can you go at least 4 hours between meals without hunger?

4 years later- Only second fill- Struggling!

If you can't get water down you need to get some removed ASAP. That's dangerous and puts you at risk for dehydration. -
Is it possible for your band to become too tight without a fill
DELETE THIS ACCOUNT! replied to Barb5227's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Some of us have extremely temperamental bands. Temperature, stress, hormones, illness, allergies, and even elevation can effect it and make it tighten right up. I'm definitely one of those people, too. Is it too tight? If so, maybe you could get a really tiny unfill just for the summer? -
Fell off the wagon and struggling to get back on

Being as you're already struggling with reflux, the last thing you need is another fill. In fact, I fear you may be too tight and need a slight unfill. You have to remember your band has absolutely nothing to do with weight loss nor does it make it you lose weight. Losing weight boils down to simple math- when you burn more calories than you consume you lose. The band only controls your hunger making it a lot easier to be satisfied on smaller portions thus consuming less calories. Here's a couple links that I think will really help you get back on track by better understanding your band: The Lap Band is NOT About Restriction- Dr. Simpson Tighter Isn't Always Better- Jean McMillan You did this once before successfully and I have no doubt you can do it again. Look at it as starting over. Go see your nutritionist and let them help you get back on track with food. Read the above links. You can do this! Best wishes and congratulations on your son! -
Ohhhh how exciting!! What huge milestone!! I'll be watching for your official 50 pounds lost post very soon

9 month anniversary of band removal!

I agree with everything here 100%. No one meant to insult or upset anyone. In fact, the only person who was disrespectful and snarky on this entire thread was balbuquerque. The rest of us were simply pointing facts versus false information, nothing more. Sorry if not wanting to misinform others is "unsupportive" but we owe to the rest of the community not to pass on bad info and needlessly scare people. -
It should have been stitched into place during surgery, not left floating around. Did yours maybe tear loose? It's not common but it can and does happen.

Feeling like a failure and need to vent
DELETE THIS ACCOUNT! replied to ireallywannabthin's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
You're not a failure, in fact far from it. You've just hit a stumbling block on your way towards success. I've only hit one major stumbling point since being banded 16 months and that was over this past Christmas. I don't know what happened, but after about a month of grazing and eating like crap the scale jumped up 6 pounds the week after Christmas. My instinct was to give up and cry, but I realized that's the exact same stinking thinking that led me to need WLS to begin with. So, I let it go. I purged my home of all even remotely tempting food and went back onto my normally healthy eating plan. At first, it was hard because eating so poorly during that time period woke up my addictive food behavior. But I stuck to it and within 2 weeks the weight came back off and I was right back on track like my slip up never happened. You can totally do this. You've had a small temporary set back but you are strong enough to get back track and continue on your journey of success. Best wishes. -
9 month anniversary of band removal!

That's my point exactly. It wouldn't matter if you lost the weight due to WLS or just a crash diet it's the weight loss that causes the gallbladder issues not the band. I also just had a tummy tuck and skin removal surgery due to weight loss. Blaming the band for having your gallbladder removed is like blaming the band for me having to go through a tummy tuck. Oh and I assure you, I don't work for anyone and I'm far from confused. I do, however, have a low ignorance tolerance and that seems to be running amok in this thread. Thanks bayougirlmrsc for bringing my attention back to this thread -
Your pouch is stretched from eating too much and/or too fast. Going forward, it's crucial you measure your food and stick to a cup or less per meal. It's also very important to take small bites, chew it until mush, and pause between bites. You can fix this but you'll have to be diligent so it gets better rather than worse. Best wishes.

Help I feal like nothing has changed since the lapband as far as dieting!
DELETE THIS ACCOUNT! replied to allie1516's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Then I guess I'm not sure where your problem is? If you're not hungry and because of it eating very little, then your band is doing exactly what it's supposed to do. -

Because you're not even a month banded and likely don't have adequate fluid in your band to control your hunger. It takes most people multiple fills to have adequate fluid in their bad so be patient. -
Discomfort Still? For the ladies
DELETE THIS ACCOUNT! replied to Mrs_Daily's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't think this is gender specific, I just think you're still tender from surgery. It hasn't even been a month so just go easy on yourself and give yourself more time to heal. Best wishes. -
May be a dumb Question?
DELETE THIS ACCOUNT! replied to kng39212's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Physically I don't think it would be an issue, however you will likely still be on the post op diet. Being on the post op diet while in Disney would be horrible. If I were you, I'd get the surgery after your trip. -
Kidney stones
DELETE THIS ACCOUNT! replied to healthylifestyle4me's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Are you on a high protein/low carb diet? If so, you should have your doctor make sure the stones aren't from a build of Protein in your urine. I had that happen to me many years ago on Atkins and it's why I refuse to do the whole low carb thing now. -
Feeling down after surgery is normal. Being frustrated with a liquid diet is normal. Everything you're going through is normal. We all went through it and we all survived it and if you give yourself a chance so you will you. But if you rush to have it removed only a week after surgery? Yes, that would be giving up and giving up before you even get started would be a bit ridiculous. Why waste all that money and go through this surgery for nothing? Definitely talk to your doctor about how you're feeling- but don't give up. Give yourself a chance to heal and actually start your Lap Band journey before you do something as drastic as having it removed unnecessarily.

Weight loss boils down to simple math, if you consume less calories than you burn, you lose. The easiest way to make sure this happens is to track every calorie you eat and stay to a cup or less of food per meal. Btw, "losing fast" is unlikely. The average is 1-2 pounds per week. Be realistic with yourself and your goals so you don't set yourself up for failure. Best wishes.

Failure......but today......

The title of this thread is 100% wrong, You are not a failure. The only way you can fail is by quitting and you haven't quit. You are just a successful journey in process
