Yup I got it too. Go to the bottom right of the message and report it so Alex can remove the idiot from the forums. -
I got the same private message. I called him some choice words and reported it. Go to the message and on the bottom right you'll see a "report" button. Hit that so Alex can remove him from the forums.

1week post op - down 8lbs
DELETE THIS ACCOUNT! replied to hockeymother's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Don't be scared! It's a good thing to advance in your diet! Not everyone gains as they advance, either. I started tracking calories from the day I got home from the hospital and I lost consistently even while on the post op diet because of it. Best wishes -
Question about maintenance, complications, and alternatives
DELETE THIS ACCOUNT! replied to JoeMalik's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi Joe, Most of us have to go monthly for the first year after surgery then yearly after that. It is very important to keep your appointments to be successful with the band. As far as complications, the majority of the complications are patient caused not band caused. It's unfortunate but the majority of the horror stories you read about the band are because the patient did something to sabotage their success. Here is a recent, long term study showing that band complications by no fault of the patient are only 5%. http://www.futurity.org/health-medicine/weight-stays-off-long-after-lap-band-surgery/ Patient compliance is crucial for success with the band. Be it going to follow up appointments or following the band eating rules, how well the patient adheres to the requirements play a huge part in whether they're successful or not with their band. Best wishes -
So why is it I Crave so bad?
DELETE THIS ACCOUNT! replied to donna12's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
It's like the popular saying around here "the band goes around your stomach, not your head". Unfortunately things like cravings don't just disappear because we're in the Green Zone. But...you should be proud for recognizing your soft stop and not giving in! I actually think the way you handle it is great. SF hard candies and fruit are healthy ways to combat sweets cravings. -
Has anyone had a rash all over since their surgery?
DELETE THIS ACCOUNT! replied to sherrintxs's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It sounds like an allergic reaction. What about lotions? Medications? Vitamins? Did it start near your incisions? Like maybe from the tape? I would ask your doctor about it. -
Help! I have pic attached of what i am throwing up. Can someone help me out

Where did I say stupid? More schooling than me? Regardless of schooling, at least I would have the common sense to call my doctor if I was puking blood. Just sayin. -

Be glad you didn't throw up because vomiting is very dangerous with the band and being so soon after surgery you'd risk ripping the stitches in your stomach. Stick to your post op diet. It's for healing not losing and it's crucial you give your stomach time to recover. Considering it was soup I'm sure you're fine, just get back on board and stick to your doctor's rules going forward. Best wishes -
Sore throat result of being too tight?

If you're vomiting, you need to call your doctor. Vomiting is very dangerous with the band and should be avoided at all costs. -
Trouble making the right choices

Unfortunately the band can't change our brains. There is a saying around here "the band goes around your stomach, not your head". It's up to you to make good food choices. It's also really important you start sticking to band sized portions because it is possible to eat around the band and over eat despite having adequate Fluid in your band, Maybe a support group or counselor could help you deal with your head issues? Food addiction is very real and sometimes we need very real help to deal with them. Best wishes -
I would be willing to bet your stomach is swollen from the fill. I've had that happen after fills but it always goes away after a day or two when the swelling goes down.

Keep Wondering if it Really Works...
DELETE THIS ACCOUNT! replied to PrincessNitaJ's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It works when you do the work. Patient compliance is so crucial to success with the band. Making healthy food choices, staying to band sized portions, and doctor follow up are all so important. Having realistic expectations and educating yourself on the band is very important too. I can only speak for myself, but I've lost over 200 pounds and I know I never could've accomplished this without my tool- my band. But, I also went into this understanding what was expected of me and I committed to change for a lifetime. -
It's been 16 months since my surgery and my libido is through the roof, too. I haven't been able to since my recent surgery and it's freak'n killing me. I think if I could've even with staples in I would have lol.

Thought i knew what i wanted...

I personally chose the Lap Band because it seemed like the logical starting pointing. If something goes wrong with my band I can have it removed, but if something goes wrong with the Sleeve, you can't get back the 75%-80% of your stomach they cut out. I simply couldn't justify hacking out the majority of my healthy stomach. -
See the problem is, you don't know for sure you're eating 800-900 calories a day because you aren't tracking your calories. If you start tracking and find you are eating that little, I'd actually increase your calories to about 1000 and see if that doesn't kick start your metabolism. But...you have to track your calories to know for sure. You're definitely in the Green Zone if you can go 4-5 hours without hunger, so that's very good. Best wishes

Update since Surgery on 5/14/13...any suggestions appreciated!
DELETE THIS ACCOUNT! replied to DebHas's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You've had surgery and your insides have been considerably messed with- it's very normal to be tired and weak. It'll likely take you 4-6 weeks to recover totally. Have you tried cream Soups with no chunks? V8 makes some great ones and they have a full serving of veggies. And, if you use a blender to liquefy it, you can blend cottage cheese, sour cream, or yogurt into it for some extra Protein. Hang in there, you're doing great and it only gets better! -
Here's a recent, accurate study on this topic. Only 5% of Lap Band patients have serious complications of no fault of their own. http://www.futurity.org/health-medicine/weight-stays-off-long-after-lap-band-surgery/

The only way you can be sure you're not eating too much is to track your calories and measure your portions. I'd start doing both if I were you.
