HELP!!!Acid Reflux at night and GURGLING!!! HELP!!!
DELETE THIS ACCOUNT! replied to ktsped's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
As the others stated above, reflux and night cough are not something to ignore or take it lightly. It's a really good thing you're going into see your doctor tomorrow. I think you got some good advice above to get you through until your appointment- like not eating a couple hours before bedtime and sleeping on a slight incline. I would also consider something like Prilosec or Zantac before bed tonight see if that helps. Good luck at your appointment tomorrow. Let us know what happens. -
Lap Band vs. Realize Band
DELETE THIS ACCOUNT! replied to NewMeDebbie's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Just my opinion, but I really don't think either is better. I just let my surgeon choose which one is best for me. I have 10cc Lap Band. -
High Protein and lots of veggies are notorious gas makers. I don't even restrict my carb intake but because of all the protein and veggies I eat, I pretty much always have the toots. You're not doing anything wrong...it's just how the body seems to process the food. You could always try something like Bean-o to help.

? about getting the stomach flu

I actually keep prescription Zofran on me on all times, just in case. If you surgeon will agree to do the same, I'd highly recommend it. It's very useful to have on hand. -
Im having a meltdown

Oh my goodness, my heart breaks for you. I am so incredibly sorry for your loss. ((hugs)) I have no great words of wisdom, I can only say you need to give yourself time to grieve. While you do, try to remember why you got the band in the first place and use that for a place to start over. You can do this. We believe in you. -
I eat lots of cheese! Honestly, I'd prefer good cheese to chocolate any day. At any given time, we have four or five different kinds in the fridge. I eat cheese daily. It's a great snack because it's a source of Protein. I'm just careful to count the calories in my daily allowance.

Diarrhea and cramping after a fill

It sounds like a coincidence. Definitely not anything to do with being too tight. If you're worried, I'd ask you're surgeon. Hope you feel better. -
Finding myself....

I'm so glad your surgery went so smoothly and that your family is being so wonderful while you recover. I honestly believe you're going to do beautifully with the band. Oh btw, I was totally excited for tuna too! -
How long after surgery for excercising?

You will have to ask your surgeon. He will have a set time frame for restrictions. -
Worst decision of my life - removed & still handicapped & chronic pain

I'm truly sorry you've gone through so much, but you need to realize you are the exception not the rule. Most people never experience anything even remotely like you have. In fact, often the Lap Band can be a life saver. I know it cured me of high blood sugar, high blood pressure, and a sleep apena. I am light years healthier because of the weight I lost with my band. -
FYI: you may Need to get unfill before surgery
DELETE THIS ACCOUNT! replied to secondchancesally's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had to have my band unfilled for my gallbladder surgery, too. But, even with the band empty, I still couldn't vomit. I brought up a lot of bile and foam but apparently I cannot vomit since being banded. I'm glad you're feeling better. Be sure to have your bariatric surgeon (or new one if you decide against your old one, which I couldn't blame you if you did) check your band after all that vomiting- it's always better safe than sorry. Rest well and best wishes! -
Caught between women's and misses sizes
DELETE THIS ACCOUNT! replied to dolphintattoo's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I have a lot of loose skin on my legs (like tons) and I also have to deal with regular swelling due to vein problems in my legs. So, I completely understand. Have you tried Riders by Lee? Relaxed fit? I found them 3 sizes ago and I buy new ones every time I drop a size. I've yet to find jeans that I like and fit better- including my ridiculously huge legs. -
Caught between women's and misses sizes

I think once you drop just one more size, it'll be a lot easier to find clothes. Once I got into a solid 14, rather than a 14W or 16, there was suddenly a lot more options. But you're right, being in between Misses and Womens is very rough. The good news is, there are some jeans makers that make "curvy" jeans. I know Jennifer Lopez, Gloria Vanderbelt, and even Faded Glory do. They're pretty awesome because they're not bigger overall but they make a bit of room for us girls that actually have butts and hips. The other thing I've found is that when you're shopping for jeans, don't get hung up on the number. I seriously can't believe how differently they fit depending on the maker. Honest to God, I can fit into anything between a 12 to a 16 depending on who makes it. So, don't be afraid to try a size up or down from your regular size. Hang in there, you're doing great! -
Good goal?

The average weight loss with the band is 1-2 pounds per week, so 4-8 pounds per month would be realistic. -
Anyone try 5 Day Pouch diet?
DELETE THIS ACCOUNT! replied to lcf_m's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I've never done the 5 day pouch test, but when I get a fill the schedule I follow afterward is very similar to it. I find that when I go on that graduated diet again, from liquids back to solids, it does indeed "reset" my eating habits and brain. I'm not even entirely sure why, but it seems like it really helps curb my cravings and desire to graze. It puts my head back into the game (so to speak) and I find that by the time I'm back on solids I'm a very good place. I say go for it- it's worth a try! -
It may only be a pound, but I'm really glad to see the scale moving again after a 6 week plateau.

Saw an Ex-boyfriend Yesterday
DELETE THIS ACCOUNT! replied to PrettyThick1's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
That is just too awesome I would handle it the same way I handled it when I ran into my ex- a big smile and waving as I turned and walked away. He doesn't deserve an explanation. Block him on FB and go on about your happy life. As the saying goes- if he doesn't love you at your worst then he sure as heck doesn't deserve you at your best. -

They don't move or remove them usually. Some people might get a low profile port but that's it -
Do you miss favorite foods

You desperately need to see your surgeon and get some major help. None of that is even remotely right not to mention completely counter productive to having the band at all. -
Wth did i do this for?
DELETE THIS ACCOUNT! replied to runt71's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ok no one is questioning your intelligence. Bottom line is, the bands do not come pre filed. Period. Surgeons usually do put in a primer fill during surgery and do not consider it an actual fill. But that Fluid in your band didn't come from the manufacturer and it is removable. If you're as miserable as you claim, you can get some removed. If you'd rather stay here defensive of your degree and doctor's staff instead, go for it. We were only trying to help, whether you believe us or do something to help yourself isn't our problem. -

Do you miss favorite foods
DELETE THIS ACCOUNT! replied to vincereautmori's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I got the band because I wasn't about to give up my favorite foods forever. For me, that's just another diet and a recipe for failure. I haven't given up any food I love. I believe in moderation not deprivation. -
Should you recommend surgery to obese oeople struggling?
DELETE THIS ACCOUNT! replied to Julie norton's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Not me. If someone had come to me and said "hey have you considered weight loss surgery?" I'd have been seriously offended. To be totally honest, I probably would've given them quite the verbal b*tch slapping about minding their own d@mn business. (again, just being honest!) -
1) I was wondering why you signed on to this site? Because I had just gotten the Lap Band and wanted to meet others like me. I also spent a lot of time reading the success stories. There weren't a lot who'd lost over 200 pounds but there some (like Floridays and Cazzy!) and they gave me the inspiration I needed to think I could do it too. 2) Why are you still here after a year? Because I've made some great friends here. Also because I see a lot of newcomers who are desperate for facts and information. Now that I'm one of the ones who've lost over 200 pounds, I hope that maybe I can give others the inspiration they need to know they can do it, too. I remember how overwhelming and daunting the task seemed and if I can help someone else to realize it's possible then I'm happy. 3) Why are you still here after five years? N/A 4) How many years have you been on this site? Since January 2012, so about 20 months.
