    No Motivation ;(

I understand what you're saying as far as cost, but they can't just go in and fill the band. Every person is different and every person has restriction at a different point. I know some who have 8cc in a 10cc band and still struggle. I only have 4cc in a 10cc band and I'm VERY tight, in fact I'm still debating a slight unfill. Then there are the rare ones who never get a fill because they have restriction with the band alone. My point is, they have to go slow when they fill you. They have no way of knowing how much you need without a gradual increase, and they do it monthly (usually) because whenever you get a fill your stomach will swell, so you have to let that swelling subside before you know just how effective that last fill was. There is no way around it, fills are a slow process and there isn't a safe way around it.

    Too Many Tickers!

I don't see any tickers here on your post.

Getting restriction takes time, and it's unlikely you'll feel any noticeable restriction after just one fill. Until you do have restriction, it falls on you and will power to make smart food choices and eat small portions. We've all been there, it's rough, but it's part of the process.

    Regret?

I have no regrets. I did the research before going into this and I knew the Lap-Band is a tool not a magic fix. I knew I'd have to change my eating habits for a lifetime. I've lost 96 pounds in just under 5 months and feel better than I have in many years. It's worth the work tenfold and I'd do it again in a heartbeat. Once your baby is safely born, I would start over. If you feel your surgeon is incompetent, find a new one to start over with. I'd also meet with a nutrionist to get a solid eating plan in place. You already have the tool, why not use it?

    Help. I Cant Stop Eating

I use an app called Lose It to track what I eat. It helps to see what I'm consuming as well as keep me accountable. Be it a journal or an app, keeping track of your food calories might help.

    Once Brave Now Petrified

You sound A LOT like me. I, like you, have been big for what seems like forever. I too was around 250 when I graduated high school and I haven't been under 300 pounds since I gave birth to my daughter almost 18 years ago. I hovered around 380 for many years, then gained even more when my health took a turn for the worse the last couple years. I maxed out at 421. I know you're scared, but if you are willing to make the necessary life changes to be successful with the band, you will be so glad you did it. I never in my wildest dreams thought I'd lose weight. I still have a ways to go, but I've already lost 96 pounds in just under 5 months. I was hoping to have lost 100 pounds by my birthday in a couple weeks, and now I'm sure I'll actually surpass that goal. I LOVE my band!! This is by far the greatest thing I've ever done for myself. Hang in there, you will do beautifully too

Yes You Can Drink And Eat At The Same Meal Time

A little personal experience when it comes to "research"... I have dealt with years of conflicting research way before I considered Lap-Band. I have Multiple Sclerosis, and just like we're seeing here, conflicting "facts" seem to run amok no matter what the topic is at hand. I also notice that in this day and age where anyone can post an article and deem it factual without any repercussions or accountability, all it takes is a little Google-foo skills and you can back just about any opinion you want with supposed "facts". Two things I have learned over the years- don't believe everything you read and don't believe everything presented as facts necessarily is. Furthermore, just because someone claims to have done a clinical trial or comparative study doesn't mean it's reliable. Did they have control groups? Did they have 3 participants or 300? Was this overseen by medical professionals who specialize in the field in question, and if so, who were the experts? This all needs to be taken into consideration. As for this article, I'm still waiting for this information to be provided to validate it, knowing even then it doesn't necessarily mean it has accurate results. Now, if someone could duplicate their findings with proven scientific methods? Repeatedly? Then, and only then, I'd take notice.

Yes You Can Drink And Eat At The Same Meal Time

I would like to see the actual data that supports this information. Not only does this go against what every bariatric surgeon I know of recommend, but as elcee stated it also contradicts the sensations that anyone with the band can relate to having gone through. I hate to sound like such a skeptic, but unless someone can post actual proof and data, I'm not buying it.

    What's The Best Sugar Substitute?

I love Stevia, plus you can buy it per pack or loose like real sugar. I use it in everything in place of sugar and can't tell the difference.

How Long Did It Take You To Lose 100 Lbs

I've lost 94 pounds in just under 5 months, so I'll be hitting the 100 pound mark soon.

    Ready To Give Up.....

It sucks but we all go through it and survive. I was on 4 weeks of liquids after surgery. I hated it but like everyone else, I just had to get through it.

    Feeling Yucky

If you are gurgling up just drinking liquids, and have night reflux, you are showing signs of being overfilled.

No there is no limits on ounces during the liquid phase.

Band Placed Too High, Recurring Pneumonia....anyone Else??

Wow I'm so sorry you went through this, it's simply awful. I hate to say it, but I'd be holding your original surgeon accountable for this. He's the one that placed it too high, resulting in all the other problems. It's awful that now you're suffering for his mistakes. Best wishes to you, I hope it all works out in your best interest.

    Outta Control I Need Help

Oh yeah I totally do. Honestly, there isn't much I can do except try to fight the urges and use damage control eating when I do give in. If I know I'm craving sweets, I'll keep some Skinny Cow ice cream or candies around for my weak moments. If I'm craving cheesy, I just make cheesy meals with low fat cheese. Either way, I still end up eating too much at least one day during that time of the month. I'm just thankful that the band doesn't allow me to eat very much, so the damage is minimal if at all.

How Many Calories Do You Eat ?

When did you have surgery? Are you still on liquids? If you're not on liquids, I'd highly suggest not getting so many calories from liquids. Your body is processing that orange juice as pure sugar, and I've never heard of a 428 calorie shake unless it's from McDonalds.

Has The Band Actually Worked For You?

Been banded 5 months Lost 94 pounds so far I'd rate the band a 10+ I love my band and would recommend it to anyone willing to make the changes and do the work

    Sleeve Vs Lapband

My logic is, I'd rather start with a reversible procedure with the band. If the band doesn't work, then I'd consider having more than half my stomach cut away for the sleeve. Just FYI, there are many people who've lost 100, even over 200 pounds with the band. I've already lost 94 pounds in just under 5 months and I love my band. You can lose the weight you need to with the band, you just have to be committed to working for it.
  21. About how many calories a day do you eat? And how much protein do you eat daily?

    Overfilled??

I recently had a fill on Monday, and spent the better part of the week unable to eat but a bite or two of food before I got stuck. I thought I was taking small bites- but I realized they weren't small enough. I am now taking bites about the size of my fingernail. As soon as I started doing that, and chewing like crazy, I was able to eat anything I wanted again. Maybe see if an even smaller bite than you're already taking might help you too?
