When Does Weight Loss Start
DELETE THIS ACCOUNT! replied to ladychodan's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I agree with TKW, that nurse spoke in ignorance. Everyone is different and feels restriction at different levels. I only have 4cc in my band and have a lot of restriction, If I had 6-7cc, I wouldn't be able to swallow Water let alone food. Something else to keep mind about weight loss with the band, even if you do have good restriction you're not going to lose if you're not mindful of your food choices. Even small servings can be loaded with calories and fat. So, it's about more than just smaller portions, it's being certain the foods we're choose are healthy. -
What Is Your Favorite Protein Food?
DELETE THIS ACCOUNT! replied to loseit's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I take 2 wedges of Babybel Light Swiss and mix them with a can of tuna. I absolutely love it. I also really like pork chops marinated in a sauce for hours so they're really tender, -

Unfortunately you just have to struggle through it. You may want to decrease your carbs and stay away from sugar until it passes. -

What you're going through we often call "bandster hell", because your band has little or no restriction so you're stuck white knuckling it on will power alone until you get a couple fills. Most can eat just like they could before surgery until they get some restriction, so what you're going through is totally normal. It may take a couple fills, but restriction will come. Best wishes to you -
Restriction At First Fill? If Not, When?

I am on liquids the first 12-24 hours after a fill, then able to go back to normal foods as tolerated. -
Restriction At First Fill? If Not, When?

I got my first fill at my 4 week appointment, and I go back every 4 weeks to see if I need another. -
Restriction At First Fill? If Not, When?
DELETE THIS ACCOUNT! replied to Missy05.29.12's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I felt some restriction after my first fill, but didn't hit good restriction until the second one. The next months I didn't get a fill, but the month after (May) I got another small one. I go back again next week and am definitely not getting a fill. I don't need it. Try not to compare yourself to others though because everyone and their anatomy is different. -
I wish I could help on this, however I look like a freak'n Shar Pei right now from sagging skin. I do know people who lose slower seem to have a lot less sagging skin. I, unfortunately, will have surgery in my future to remove it.

No Drinking During Meals, Why????
DELETE THIS ACCOUNT! replied to ClaudiaG's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My doctor says nothing to drink during eating and to wait a half hour after before drinking again. It took a lot of getting used to, but believe it or not it does become second nature. It really doesn't bother me anymore. -
Isn't that the best feeling? I had saved a dress from my dad's wedding 9 years ago hoping one day it would fit again. About a month ago, I tried it on and it was too big. It's a great feeling.

I think protein does have at least a part of it. I know it's harder for your stomach to digest and I wonder if that combined with the squeezing of the band results in all the noises? I'm definitely going to ask my surgeon when I see him next week,
-
Mine gets very loud at times, too. In fact if I move certain ways, it'll make noise every single time I move. My kids laugh because my stomach seems to "talk" more than my mouth some days.

Im Totally Off Track I Feel Like A Cheater

Go to your surgeon and get a fill if necessary. Start logging your food for a couple weeks than make an appointment with a nutrionist and bring your food journal. This way they can see exactly what you're eating and tell you where you need to make changes. Remember, the band is a tool not a magic wand. You still very much have to do the work and make healthy lifestyle changes for a lifetime- otherwise it's just a piece of costly stomach jewelry. The band will not work until you do. Good luck. -

What my doctor told me was, very often people trade addictions. So after WLS, some patients will trade their food addiction for alcoholism or drug abuse. He said this one of the reasons he tells his WLS patients to avoid alcohol, not only because it's empty calories but because of the increase risk of addiction. -
Has Anyone Had Good Long Term Success?
DELETE THIS ACCOUNT! replied to newskinnygal's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Unfortunately, there is a lot of incorrect information out there. "A lot" of people don't have complications and need their bands out. In fact, based on a clinical study of over 4000 lap band patients, only 8.6% have complications. 8.6% is a very low amount. Just FYI -
Have you talked to your doctor? Have you had it checked via barium swallow under x-ray? You say you have pain where the band is, the band is around your stomach, do you mean you have stomach pain? And if so, have you seen an internist to make sure it is from the band?
-
Welcome back! You did it before so I have no doubt you can do it again

How Many Fills Have You Had ?
DELETE THIS ACCOUNT! replied to angieband's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I have 4cc in a 10cc band. I've had 3 fills and go back every month to see if I need/want another. I definitely won't get another fill this month because I don't need it. Cazzy offers good advice and she's been REALLY successful with her band. I'd definitely listen to her. -

Gaining Weight On My Preop Diet!!?? Help
DELETE THIS ACCOUNT! replied to banditalovely's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
2000 calories a lot. If I were you, I'd log what you eat and track your calories to find out for sure how much you're eating. I use an android app called Lose It to track mine. -
Every surgeon's prices and what's included is different. You need to check with your insurance company and find out for sure if it's covered. Then, you need to attend a seminar in your area to find out costs and what is included.
