I eat pretty much all carbs. I do try to stay away from anything that is white, bleached, or enriched though. For instance, I buy whole grain wheat bread and whole grain Pasta. I also eat a lot of potatoes because they're in their natural state and better for you than breads or pasta.

Need Something Crunchy To Replace Chips?
DELETE THIS ACCOUNT! replied to waitingpatiently's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I love Veggie Straws. I get the crunchy salty without all the fat and calories of chips. They are 130 calories for 38 sticks, which is a lot of straws lol. -

I agree with the others, I'd give your calories an increase. Hopefully it will help kick your metabolism into gear. -
Stuck Episode Again Tonight, What's Up?
DELETE THIS ACCOUNT! replied to donna12's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You may need to take smaller bites, chew a lot more, or pause between bites. Or any combination of these things. I'd experiment with bite sizes and chewing before calling the doc. -
I am not done losing, but if you look at my profile you can see pics of me before surgery and after losing 100 pounds.

Granted this is my choice, not the right or wrong way, but... I don't do low carb. I limit my carbs to 125g per day, which isn't exactly a free for all but I'm not super low carb like most here either. I also had major problems with Adkins years ago, I ended up with a major kidney infection from too much Protein build up. That and the fact it's simply not realistic for me to be low carb for a lifetime, my nutritionist and I decided together it was best for me to moderate carbs but not significantly restrict them. So far I've done well. I do count calories too. Some surgeons suggest a low carb diet however there is no rule stating everyone with the band must severely restrict carbs. In the end, it's a matter of choice and what works best for your specific body. Best wishes!

Yes those will just gradually come off on their own

What Do I Do About Work??
DELETE THIS ACCOUNT! replied to lookinfwd's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I personally think Monday will be too soon. Most surgeons recommend a week off for people at a desk job. I had my surgery on a Friday and didn't feel even remotely "normal" until the Wednesday after. I could barely walk without doubling over from gas pain the Monday after, there's no way I could've gone to a job. Legally, you don't have to tell your employers you're having this surgery. I personally would go to whoever is in charge of time off, tell them vaguely you have a medical issue and will need the time off. If they need a note from your doctor, you can always get one that says simply you are having a "medical procedure" that requires a week's recovery time. Best wishes! -
I love the Unjury. I'm 7 months after surgery and I still have one for breakfast every morning

Sigh, So Little Restriction

It usually does take multiple fills, my doctor gives me the option of a fill every 4 weeks if I want them. -

On Your First Fill, How Many Cc's Did You Get?

I had 2cc my first fill. My surgeon originally tried to put in 3cc, but I couldn't swallow water so he immediately took 1cc back out. -
Banded 5 Days Ago... And The Emotional Ups And Downs
DELETE THIS ACCOUNT! replied to Christy.Lynn's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi Christy and welcome! First, let me reassure you everything you're going through is totally normal. It's extremely emotional to be banded and have to wrap your brain around all the changes occurring in your body and laugh. I know a couple days after my surgery, I woke up and went "Oh my gosh, what the heck have done to myself?" I also cried more than a couple times too. The fact my post op diet consisted of only liquids for the first four weeks definitely didn't help any, either. The good news is, it gets TONS easier! My surgery was 7 months ago and I'd do it again in a heart beat. I love my band and I honestly believe being banded was the best decision I've ever made for myself. Stay strong and we're here for support and encouragement if you need us -
Foods?
DELETE THIS ACCOUNT! replied to nathansmommy1020's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The only thing that is off limits after surgery is carbonation. Unless your doctor has put you on a special diet, there is absolutely no reason you can't have Pasta, bread or pizza. I have all these foods without issue. The key is, as with all food, moderation. -
Stitches don't fall out, they have to be removed. When is your next doctor's appointment? And are you sure there's stitches under the steri strips? Most of us had no stitches.

Granted I am no doctor, but I am not sure where your surgeon came up with this idea that fills should be avoided. The entire purpose of the band is to restrict around the stomach and that can't happen without Fluid in the band. An empty band is pretty much useless for the majority of people. It's little more than expensive stomach jewelry. If I were in your shoes, I wouldn't wait, I'd start looking for a new surgeon immediately. You shouldn't have to fight to get fills. It defeats the whole purpose of the band. Just my opinion.

Yoga... Does It Have To Grow On You?
DELETE THIS ACCOUNT! replied to adorkbl's topic in Fitness & Exercise
I think if you don't like it after 2 classes, it's probably just not for you. I think it's a lot like jogging, people either love it or hate it, there's very little in between. I say stick to your Zumba and enjoy -
This could very likely be a sign of a slip and/or a band that is too tight. You need to get in to see your surgeon as soon as possible.

Liver Not Small Enough
DELETE THIS ACCOUNT! replied to KristinsMommy's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have heard of patients who left the hospital with no band because once their surgeon got in there, the liver was too fatty and enlarged to safely operate around. However, the only time I've heard of this happening is if the person has a pre-existing condition that effects their liver or they completely disregarded the pre-op diet. I've never known anyone who followed their surgeon's pre-op diet (and no liver conditions) that wasn't banded because of their liver. If you follow your doctors orders, you have absolutely nothing to worry about. Best wishes to you. -

I Hate Asking Questions Already Asked But...
DELETE THIS ACCOUNT! replied to Nyt's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
That doesn't sound band related as it's below the stomach and port. I know this isn't helping, but the possibilities are too vast to even guess. Just be sure to bring it up to your doc and make the aware of the circumstances around it. For instance, if putting pressure on the spot makes it hurt more, or food effects it, if you're having female related issues, or if it's effecting your bowel movements. -
Having a clear idea what to expect, what to eat, and what not to eat is crucial to success with the Lap Band. I would strongly suggest making an appointment with a local nutritionist so you can learn the basics and get set up with guidelines to fit your lifestyle.
