Can anyone tell me what it feels like to have a LapBand? It doesn't feel like anything Can you feel it? nope Do you feel like it's hard to breathe? No and if it does there's something seriously wrong Do you have a hard time swallowing? Not if I take small enough bites and chew enough What does getting 'stuck' feel like? Like a big lump in your chest/throat, usually with a lot of saliva (sliming). Can be very uncomfortable even painful Does having a LapBand make you have heartburn? No, and if it does, it's too tight Can you still eat spicy foods? yes Can you still guzzle water or will it be sip city forever? I guzzle easily Any permanent damage from it? no Do you like it or dislike it? I love it

Truth is I really don't, but that's because I have Multiple Sclerosis. I do walk whenever I can, do yard work, essentially move as much as I can.

I was originally scheduled for Gastric Bypass and canceled. I simply could not justify rerouting my intestines and cutting up my stomach without trying something less drastic first. I also didn't want to deal with malabsorption and "dumping" forever, either. The Lap Band is reversible and doesn't change my digestive system, so I decided to get the band.

Support will help you a lot. For me, I had to stop thinking of it as dieting. If I look at this a temporary situation until I'm done losing weight, I will fail miserably and I know this. Also, if I look at this as a diet, I know I will go right back to being huge and miserable eventually too. Diets are temporary, thus their results are also temporary. I am not on a diet, I have changed my eating habits for a lifetime. It's the only way to get off the yo-yo dieting roller coaster once and for all.

It normally takes people multiple fills before they feel restriction. It know it's frustrating, but if you want to lose weight between now and when you do have restriction, stick to band sized portions and healthy food choices. Hang in there

Well very soon here, once Obamacare gets more going, it will be illegal to exclude anyone for ANY pre-existing conditions. In other words, it won't matter what your healthy history is you'll be covered.

I'm not entirely sure, I think I'll be happy even 160ish. I'm more or less aiming for under 200 then from there I'll just see where I feel best.

I almost did crtywhen I got under 300. I hadn't been under 300 in 18 years.

I was 421 the day of surgery, I am currently 293 pounds. I've lost 128 pounds in 7 months. So yes, it's very possible.

My surgeon is documenting it at every visit to prove it's medically necessary. Perhaps yours could do the same?

I take the Women's One a Day Petites. They are tablets about half the size of a normal one, so you take two daily instead of one. I would not recommend them for anyone who has problems with pills and their band, though.

That depends, did you just eat? When did you have surgery?

I have had luck shocking my metabolism. I normally eat around 900-1000 calories a day. When I hit a plateau, I will have 1400 calories one day, 700 calories the next day, then back to 900-1000 calories a day. I don't do this unless I've gone at least 2 weeks without a loss, I know I've been eating right so it's not a matter of food choices, and I'm not on my period (because I know that can cause Water weight gain). But the two times I've done this, it's worked and I started losing again.

Are you sure it's 12oz? Most standard tuna cans are 6oz, 4oz when the Water is drained. 12oz would be really huge.
