Has Anyone Else Had An Unfill Then Refill To Get No Restriction?
DELETE THIS ACCOUNT! replied to RenaeP77's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Well first, .5 can make a huge difference in the amount of restriction. Even as little as .2 can make a big difference, so it makes sense you wouldn't have the same level of restriction you had before the unfill. Just for the record, the band isn't supposed to stop you from eating anything. Nor it is supposed to limit your food intake. It is only supposed to help you feel satisfied with less food for longer periods of time. Satisfied doesn't mean stuffed full or unable to eat more, either. It means no longer physically hungry. -

Killer In Prison Gets Lap Band
DELETE THIS ACCOUNT! replied to ☠carolinagirl☠'s topic in Rants & Raves
Oh my gosh, that is complete crap!!! There are thousands of decent people, who aren't cannibals in prison for murder, trying to get WLS and can't because of a lack of insurance or money. And this piece of human filth gets it in prison??? At the tax payer's expense??? That is just pathetic!!! -
Yes, you were pumped full of fluids during surgery and it will take a short bit for your body to expel it.
-
If you haven't met with a nutritionist already, I suggest doing so before you go in for surgery. They can help you set up realistic food guidelines to make eating after being banded a lot simpler. You will have to change the way you eat forever. It's not easy but it can be done. It all comes down to how determined you are to lose weight and keep it off. Best wishes.

Realistic Weight Goal (?)
DELETE THIS ACCOUNT! replied to LadyMaggie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I agree, I wouldn't be happy at all if I only lost 50% of my excess weight. But... I will say this. I have lost 50% of my weight so far, and while I still plan to lose a lot more weight, even if I did stop losing today I'm a heck of a lot better off than I was when I was 131 pounds heavier. I very firmly believe how much you lose is entirely up to you and how much you're willing to work for it. -

Tylenol is off the shelves? Since when? I haven't read or saw anything about it. -
I find logging calories helps keep me accountable. It's one thing to say "oh I'm just going to have this one piece cake" but it's another to see it's calorie and fat content right there in writing. You can't deny or rationalize what you eat when you log everything you put into your mouth. I have used the app Lose It since the day I got home from the hospital and it's helped me tremendously.

Rough Morning- About To Pass Out
DELETE THIS ACCOUNT! replied to farmgirl04's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm sure it's a combination of the post op diet and recovering from surgery. It sounds like you were doing an awful lot when the fainting spell hit. Slow down. I know you probably feel better but your body still has a lot of healing to do internally. People don't realize the enormous amount of energy your body uses when trying to heal itself, especially from surgery. Couple that with the fact you're likely nutrient deficient right now, it's little wonder you felt like you were going to pass out. Slow down, give your body time to recover -
I drink Diet Lipton Green Iced Tea all the time, I love the citrus and mixed berry flavors. I've never had a problem with caffeine in it nor does my surgeon. It's zero calorie and not carbonated so it's been a great substitution for soda for me.

I really hope these staples and the drain come out on Tuesday. I am so over this.

If you want to be safe, read the ingredients before buying. It's the only way to be sure. -
"it's Just A Habit" She Says
DELETE THIS ACCOUNT! replied to kassy_360's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Honestly, I had that problem. I thought I was going to starve to death by morning it would growl so loud. But I ignored it because I knew eating that late at night would only hinder my weight loss efforts. Now I very easily sleep through the night. If I happen to wake up at 2 or 3am to use the bathroom it's usually growling but I still go right back to sleep despite it. I guess I'm used to it so it doesn't bother me anymore. -
New To This Particular Site

Hello and welcome! My BMI was 72 when I got the Lap Band. That was about 7 months ago. My BMI is now 49 and I've lost 131 pounds so far. I am about half way to my goal. Needless to say, I am thrilled with my band. It's the best decision I've ever made for myself. You most certainly can lose the weight you need to with the band as long as you're committed not to a diet, but to changing your eating habits to healthy ones for a lifetime. Best wishes to you. -
Heartburn After Surgery
DELETE THIS ACCOUNT! replied to Edan Ren?'s topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
It could be from the swelling, you were just banded 3 days ago. I would get some Zantac 150 and take it both morning and night, see if that doesn't help. -
It is true for many. It takes time to get the right amount of fluid in your band. That's why the time between surgery and good restriction is often called 'bandster hell'. It's a bit rough but totally worth it.
-
Actually the only way to stop an addiction is to quit it and never touch it again. I was a true addict too. I drank about 6 cans a day and quitting seriously sucked. Just like a drug addict or alcoholic can't have their addiction in moderation and remain in control of it, neither can we.
-
This is just my opinion, but you couldn't pay me to touch carbonation since being banded. I've read a couple studies linking carbonation to slips. It goes through the band immediately because it's a liquid, but the carbonation expands in the lower stomach below the band, pushing upward. This is what causes slips. My roommate after Lap Band surgery was in there for a revision. She had been drinking soda and her band not only slipped, but her stomach actually prolapsed up through her band. She also gained back 40 pounds because of it. I was a huge soda addict before being banded, but it's simply not worth the risks. I haven't had one in over 7 months and never plan to again.

Realistic Weight Goal (?)
DELETE THIS ACCOUNT! replied to LadyMaggie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Most experts say the average is 1-2 pounds per week, but as Denise said, people are different and we all lose at different rates. Really, it doesn't matter how fast or slow you lose so long as you're losing. -
Just some facts that may help you... The band will not stop you from pigging out. It's purpose is not to stop you from eating, nor is it to make you feel stuffed full. The band's purpose is so that you can be satisfied with less food for longer periods of time. Being satisfied does not mean full nor does it mean unable to eat. It simply means you're not physically hungry. A big mistake people make is thinking the band will physically stop them from eating. Very often you could easily eat more than the 1 cup or less portion we're advised to stick to. But, just because we can eat more doesn't mean we should. The band helps tremendously to help hunger, but even on smaller portions you have to change your eating habits to healthy ones for a lifetime. The work is still very much ours to do and if changes aren't made, you won't lose. Mind you, it doesn't matter which weight loss surgery you choose, you still have to eat healthy if you want to lose weight. That's not specific to the band alone. Understanding what the band does and doesn't do is really important, just like changing eating habits to healthy ones is important. When you do the work and use the band as it was meant to be used, you can be very successful losing weight. Good luck with whatever you choose.

I let it sit in the marinade for about 4 hours before cooking it, though overnight works too. Just be sure it's in an air tight container so you don't get bacteria.

I would try making sure it's not dry. I marinade my chicken or cook it in some sort of liquid so it's nice and moist, for me that's the key to eating it successfully. I have a hard time if meats are all dried out.
