Is It Ever Enough!? Any Secrets!?

I would suggest logging your food, calories, and nutrients to see exactly how much you're getting daily. People who don't log them are often shocked at much or little they're actually consuming. I've used the Lose It app since the day I got home from the hospital and it's help a lot. I've lost a lot relatively quickly, 142 pounds in 8 months, all post op. I find sometimes I have to really play with my calories. My weight loss had really slowed in July so I increased my calories in August and the weight has been melting off ever since. So, start tracking your food, that will show you clearly where you can make changes for better results.

    100 Lbs Gone.

You lost 100 pounds in 4 months? WOW!! That's amazing!
  3. You're welcome! Maybe you should try this? It's a starter kit, with individual packets of each flavor. It's a great way to try them out without committing to just one. http://www.unjury.co...tarter-kit.html Oh and don't use water....ewww! That does taste awful lol. I always use a cup of skim milk to make mine and it's actually good.

    Day 4 Of Pre Op

I think you're doing great so far!! Ok so chips and salsa aren't the best choice, but overall you're doing beautifully. Just keep focusing on the goal and keep doing what you're doing
  6. Yes, the smell of many brands made me feel nauseous to the point I couldn't stomach them. I tried about 4 different kinds before I found one that didn't smell bad to me- unjury. In fact, I'm 8 months post op and still have an Unjury chocolate Splendor shake for Breakfast every morning. I'd continue to try to different brands, find one that doesn't have a bad smell or taste. Best wishes.
  7. Holy cow I'm so tired. I definitely see a nap in my near future.

    Seriously Need Help! Lapband Failure

Granted I'm not a doctor and don't claim to know more than one, but you were clearly too tight, and having a band too tight can seriously inhibit weight loss because you're not giving your body the nutrition it needs to be efficient. I would not give up on the band until you tried everything, including counting calories. Even though you may not be eating much you might be shocked how many calories what you are eating is. Or, just the opposite, you may realize you're eating way too little calories. You do have options to try. so I wouldn't throw in the towel until you do.

Is Nothing Suppose To Come Off?

You were just banded on August 28. The first 4-6 weeks after surgery are for healing, not losing. My best advice would be to put the scale away until you are at least back on solid foods and try to make good food choices in the meantime. It's not at all uncommon for people not to lose during the healing process or even gain a little. Hang in there and be patient as your body heals
  11. I know this sounds like a cop out answer, but I don't eat anything special. In fact, there isn't anything I can't eat. I just make sure what I do eat is healthy, for instance lean chicken breast rather than a fatty burger. As a general rule, I make sure all meats are very moist. I marinade a lot, like pork chops and chicken, because if the meat is dry I'm far more likely to get stuck.

Talking To My Children About Lbs

My youngest had just turned 9 when I had mine and I told him the truth. I had surgery that placed a band around my stomach to help me lose weight. When he told me he still loved me fat and I didn't have to do that, I hugged him and told him I was doing it because I loved him so much I wanted to be healthier so I can do more with him. He totally "got it" when I put it that way. Now these days, I'm walking a couple of miles a night with him, taking him to the zoo, and planning a trip to Disney with him and my daughter this spring break. I kept my promise

Chest Tightness, Palpitations And Ignoramus Drs!

Oh my gosh, you're a better woman than me, I'd have gone nasty snarky on that ignorant doctor as soon as he got stupid about the band. It kills how medical professionals can be so uneducated and have such horrible people skills. I'm so sorry you're going through all the issues with the chest pains. Do you think maybe you're having panic attacks? Just a thought I hope you find answers.

    Just A Tip!

Lipton makes an excellent Diet Green Iced Tea, too. I love the mixed berry and citrus flavors. You can buy them in a 12 pack for about $5.

    Day 4

Hahaha I love your sense of humor! I had this visual image of you hunched over a pack of gum like a lion with prey, growling and threatening anyone foolish enough to go near it. Too funny! Congrats on sticking to your liquid diet and weight loss! You're off to a great start!!

    Just A Tip!

There is some debate about this, but most surgeons say no carbonation after being banded. Soda passes right through the band because it's a liquid, but the carbonation expands below the band and pushes upward against it. This can cause slips. When I had my Lap Band surgery, the woman who shared the room with me was in for a revision of her band. She had been drinking soda and it not only resulted in a slip but her stomach actually prolapsed up through her band. She also gained back 40 pounds. I can't speak for anyone else, but you couldn't pay me all the money in the world to ever drink carbonation again. It's just not worth the risk.
  21. Generally speaking, the rule is no more than 1 cup of food per meal. Less than a cup is fine but don't exceed 1 cup.

    Cheated! Help!

It sounds like you were supposed to be on an Atkins like diet, which means no carbs. If that's the case, liquids would be a bad idea unless it's carb free. The whole purpose of the pre-op diet is to shrink your liver for surgery. It's rare but there have stories of people who've come out of surgery with all the scars but no band because their liver was too fatty and enlarged to safely complete the surgery. Your surgery is only 3 days away. Do exactly as you're supposed to be doing for the next 3 days. I'd probably seriously restrict my calorie intake if I were in your shoes, too.
