What Inspires You To Keep Going?
DELETE THIS ACCOUNT! replied to knewland's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
For me it's my children. I want to live long enough to become a grandma, and even great grandma someday, and spoil them rotten. -
I'm very sorry you're struggling and frustrated You say "I can eat anything". You need to realize the band isn't meant to stop you from eating anything, so please don't expect it to do that. Too many people end up over-filled and too tight from thinking the band should stop them from eating and that's simply not the case. Sadly, many of those people end up with complications and slips from being too tight, too. The band is supposed to satiate your hunger, with little food, for a long period of time. Very specifically, it should help you to eat a cup or less of food and not be hungry again for at least 4-5 hours. Have you considered counting calories to help your weight loss?
-
Well for me, I find that I'm no longer hungry and lose interest in eating before I finish my one cup serving. It also means I can go over 4 hours (usually closer 5 or 6) without being hungry again. Because I'm not hungry I'm not preoccupied with food and my next meal anymore either.

Any Good Suggestions?
DELETE THIS ACCOUNT! replied to futuresize8's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
For the full liquid phase, I discovered V8 made some really good Soups with no lumps. Potato Leek, Garden Tomato, and Butternut Squash were some I ate regularly. Of course, any cream soup or broth with no lumps is fine. As far as Protein shakes, I tried 3 or 4 store brands and couldn't find any I could stomach. I finally ordered unjury online and love them. I'm almost 9 months post op and still have one for Breakfast every morning. Best wishes to you. -
Just Confirming What I'm Feeling

I would slow down, take smaller bites, and give it a couple days. Right now your stomach is likely irritated and possibly even swollen from the fill. It just needs time to adjust. -
Not Criticizing, But Amazed....used To Be Able To Relate

Well best wishes to you. What matters is that you're healthy and happy, it sounds like it's necessary for that band to come out so you can be that again. Plus, going through life miserable with all those digestive problems is simply no way to live. I'd personally rather be overweight than to live in constant pain. Good luck! -
I Have A Question

I've never had a problem taking pills. Be sure to check with your pharmacist before ever cutting or crushing a pill. Some are time release and if you cut or crush them, they're released into your system too quickly at too high a dose. -
Saturday - Not Such A Great Post-Op Diet Day!

I hate to tell you this, but the only things you ate today that are a mushy food are the Protein shakes. The rest are full out solids, soft foods at best. Definitely not mushy. Mushy means literally mush. Think like mashed potatoes, baby food, applesauce, etc. You can have meat but you have to puree it in a blender first. Just chewing something like crazy doesn't make it a mushy food, it has to be mushy before it goes into your mouth. Go back to mushies tomorrow and you should be fine. -
Is This Normal Or Okay?
DELETE THIS ACCOUNT! replied to GeorgiaGirlie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well that depends, are you supposed to be eating solids just 8 days after surgery? If you doctor gave his approval, then cool. If you're not supposed to be on solids, I'd strongly suggest going back to whatever phase you're supposed to be on and following the rules your doctor gave you. Skipping ahead on the post op diet puts your health and band at serious risk. -

Wow I am so incredibly sorry. That is awful. Will your esophagus and stomach heal once the band comes out? I don't blame you, btw. If I were in your shoes, I'd want it out too. Are you considering revising to a different WLS? -
My band is so tight due to stress today! Holy cow this sucks, I can hardly eat!

wow that's awesome to know, thank you!! I'm totally using that formula from now on! -
I agree with wallflower, I'd start tracking your calories to see how much you're actually consuming. Most people who aren't losing and also don't track calories are usually shocked at what they're eating when they start. Plus, it'll show you problem foods you need to change or get rid of entirely.

Tell Me How To Succeed

Have you tried the 5 day pouch test? Many find it very useful in shrinking their pouch as well as starting over with the band. Perhaps it could help you start over too? http://5daypouchtest.com/plan/theplan.html Best wishes to you. -
Yes, it very normal but extremely frustrating. Many refer to it as "bandster hell" between surgery and when you finally have adequate Fluid in the band. You're expected to eat like a banded person yet you don't have the benefits of the band yet. You're stuck working off will power alone and it's tough. Rest assured, it does get easier. It takes most people multiple fills before they have adequate fluid in their band but once you do you'll find you can go 4 or more hours on a small meal without hunger. Hang in there

Progressing Post Op Diet Early

I'm not the one who's spewing it across the board. There's an old saying: It's better to look a fool than open your mouth and remove all doubt. You have removed all doubt. I'm done responding to you. I have no tolerance, respect, or time for rude clueless children. -

You know, on second thought, have you tried an antihistamine like Benadryl? I wonder if you're not having a minor allergic reaction to the steri strips. -

I was told not to put anything on them, just let the Water run over in the shower without scrubbing or rubbing. Granted I'm no doctor and I'm not qualified to give medical advice, but if I were going to put anything on it Neosporin would be my first choice, too.
