Need To Refocus
DELETE THIS ACCOUNT! replied to kerrir235's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
First, please fill out your profile so we can better answer your questions. I'm assuming you mean you're 2 weeks post op. I'm also assuming you mean you cheated on your post op diet for the last 3 days. If both are true, you need to realize that by cheating you're only putting yourself at risk. The post op diet is to allow your stomach time to heal. Not only has it had a band placed around it but that band was also sewn to it. You have very fresh sutures trying to heal and it's imperative you stick to your post op diet so you don't risk injuring yourself or putting your band in jeopardy. Stick to your post op diet. It's only a couple weeks and by not doing so is very risky. -
Protein Shake Gives Me Acne
DELETE THIS ACCOUNT! replied to Dino3's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Perhaps then try a different brand? Walmart sells protein shots, too. -
You should fill out your profile so we can better answer your questions. If you were just banded 2 months ago, 27 pounds is good. That's an average of 3.4 pounds a week. The band is average is 1-2 pounds a week, so you're already losing faster than expected.

Protein Shake Gives Me Acne

I agree with the others. You're 2 years post op, you don't need the shakes. Sure they're convenient once in awhile but they're not a necessity. Just stop using Protein drinks and eat your protein. -
Unfill For Convience????
DELETE THIS ACCOUNT! replied to candtwalker's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I've experienced the same. I had my band emptied in August for an emergency surgery (not band related). I've had it slowly added back in since then. Last Tuesday I had the last bit readded to put me where I was before surgery- and was way too tight. I ended up back in 3 days later for a slight unfill. So now I'm less than I was before surgery and mostly in the Green Zone again, but still not like I was before I had the band unfilled for surgery. It seems when you get it unfilled it doesn't refill quite the same way it was. Just my experience. -
Learn From My $16,000 Mistake
DELETE THIS ACCOUNT! replied to Liz1531's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I'm sorry you had problems, but it's obvious something was wrong with your band from the day it was placed. Maybe it's in the wrong place, maybe your anatomy simply doesn't work well with the band, I don't know. But I do know the fact you've been living on slider foods since the first month being banded means something is wrong. I might also add you have a 4cc band. There's a reason those are no longer used in the United States- because the company said there were way too many complications with them and now only approve the larger bands. Again, that is completely not your fault, however it stands to reason that band was too small for you from the beginning hence forever being too tight even when empty. I hope you find what you're looking for after it's removed and I mostly hope you find good health. But please don't come on here acting like everyone who is banded is making a mistake. We're not you and the statistics are in our favor, especially with the new bigger bands. I've lost almost 150 pounds in 9 months and I couldn't be happier. I never PB, I've never vomited, and it's extremely rare that I get stuck. In fact, I can and do still eat whatever I want without any problems. Some of us are extremely happy and successful with our bands. -
Im At Like 7.5 Cc And Don't Feel It Working
DELETE THIS ACCOUNT! replied to latinamom's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Have you considered perhaps you're not getting enough calories? Some people need to consume more to lose- including me. I would stick to a cup or less of food per meal but try increasing the calories a little for a week or two and see what happens. Even to just 1000-1200 per day. Best wishes to you. -
Im At Like 7.5 Cc And Don't Feel It Working

I'm sorry you're struggling. You say you're starving, I'm assuming you mean you're physically hungry? How soon after eating do you find you're hungry again? Also, are you sticking to a cup or less of food per meal? Are you getting in all your Protein daily? -

Stomach Issues
DELETE THIS ACCOUNT! replied to DeAna N's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Complete myth. Our digestive systems aren't changed whatsoever. Furthermore, the band is on the outside of the stomach not the inside, it would never even come in contact with stomach contents. The band has zero effect on infections, bacterial or viral. Diarrhea is a different issue entirely. Some do have it more but that's not because of the band itself but rather what they are (or are not) eating. Some have more constipation for the same reason, too. -
Unfill For Convience????

Seems foolish and counter productive to me. It defeats the whole purpose of the band at a time when you need the extra help not to over eat the most. -
Quick Question
DELETE THIS ACCOUNT! replied to futuresize8's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The above ladies are right, every doctor is different and has different ideas what works. You should've received a post op diet plan from your doctor. Either pull it out and have a look or call and find out. Just FYI, I was on liquids for 4 weeks post surgery. -
Water Blister After Removing Steristrips
DELETE THIS ACCOUNT! replied to Lana08's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ugh yes. It sounds like you're allergic to the tape. Any time you have to go to the hospital or even doctor in the future, be sure to tell them you need cloth or paper tape, not the standard surgical tape. My skin will literally blister and bleed from that stuff. It's miserable. Put a little Neosporan on the blister. A standard OTC antihistamine, like Benadryl, should help the itching and burning. Hang in there, it sucks but it does seem to pass pretty quickly once the tape is off your skin. -
Long Term Expectations
DELETE THIS ACCOUNT! replied to missy2shoes's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
That's awful that your surgeon never saw you again! Honestly, I'd demand an appointment with him not the fill people, then I'd be demanding a barium swallow just to verify the band is in the right spot. Best wishes to you. -
Green Zone ~ How Could You Tell You Were There?
DELETE THIS ACCOUNT! replied to A New New Dawn's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
For me, it doesn't really feel any specific way when eating, except that I have to chew well, take small bites, and eat slow or I can feel a stuck episode coming on. The biggest thing is that when my cup of food is gone, I have zero hunger and I don't have hunger again for 4-5 hours. Very often I simply don't want anymore food even before finishing my serving. I'll get the hiccups or start to burp and I know that's my signal to stop eating, regardless of how much I've eaten or how much food I have left. -

Newbie In This Forum But 2 Years Post Lap Band
DELETE THIS ACCOUNT! replied to BabyRN2010's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Congratulations on both your loss and great attitude. Welcome! -
The only time I've heard of a pre-op diet effecting a surgery is when someone cheats on it and doesn't shrink their liver enough for the surgeon to place the band safely. In that case, the person ends up going home with all the Lap Band scars but no Lap Band. Otherwise no, I've never heard of someone doing "too good" on a pre-op diet.

1 stink'n pound from the 150 pound loss mark. Ya gotta love a stubborn body not wanting to give up the pounds lol.

2Cc In 4Cc Band- Little Restriction
DELETE THIS ACCOUNT! replied to Arizonakimc's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Oh ok. Well I'm not real familiar with the smaller bands, however I'd assume you'd get restriction from them rather quickly. I'd definitely go for very small fills going forward being as it's already half full. It does take most people multiple fills to have adequate Fluid in their bands, so don't worry, it'll come, it will just likely take some time. -
2Cc In 4Cc Band- Little Restriction

How long ago were you banded? I'm assuming some years ago being as they don't use the 4cc band anymore? Were you unfilled and refilled or something? You should fill out your profile, it will better help us to answer your questions. -
Extreme Lower Abdominal Pain

I don't see how the Lap Band could cause IBS or any other bowel issue, however, I can see how what you eat because of the Lap Band band could irritate it. This is a shot in the dark, but have you been tested for Crohn's Disease? Bental is very hit or miss for most people btw. Sometimes it works others not at all. (I have IBS, too) -
How Much Should I Eat?

No more than one cup of food per meal. Start with protein, then veggies, then starch if you still have room. -
Is Blending Cheating?
DELETE THIS ACCOUNT! replied to lousianalady's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It depends on what you're blending. If you're blending because you're on the liquid or mushie stage of a post op diet, you're not cheating you're being smart. If you're blending because your band is too tight to eat solid food, it's still not cheating however it would be extremely foolish to willingly have a band too tight.
