Eating Out While Traveling
DELETE THIS ACCOUNT! replied to wildrose1966's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You're doing great, you really are. I've seen many people who aren't still on a restricted post op diet crack under pressure and eat complete junk, yet here you are, trying to stick to your surgeon's guidelines even when away from home and with coworkers!! Seriously, you should be very proud of yourself!! You're doing awesome!! -

Can Anyone Tolerate Eating Rice?

I eat rice, Pasta, bread, potatoes, etc. all regularly if not daily. But I don't follow a low carb diet, either. -
Feeling Hungry Any Ideas To Help

Protein, like eggs, cottage cheese, greek yogurt, chicken or tuna salad with fat free mayo. As a general rule protein will help keep you full longer. -
Best wishes to you!

I take Omega 3, vitamin D3, Biotin, and a multivitamin every day without issue. I have no problems swallowing pills of any size.

What phase of the diet are you on? Liquids or mushies? -
Am I Cheating
DELETE THIS ACCOUNT! replied to futuresize8's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sure! I actually did the same. I'd boil the water and just add the packet but no noodles. It makes a nice change of broth flavors. -
It sounds like you took too big of a bite and/or ate too fast and got stuck. That irritated your stomach and caused swelling. If it were me, I'd go on liquids for 24 hours to give your tummy time to calm. If it persists after that, I'd call your doctor.

hahahahaha!! WOW!!!! I smell some John and Olivia desperation! -
If your levels are normal thanks to medication, I don't see why Lap Band wouldn't help so long as you're willing to change your diet to make it work. It's an excellent tool and I think it could probably help you considerably. If you do get the surgery, I would just be sure to keep a close eye on your levels throughout your journey just to make sure they don't stray from normal. Best wishes with whatever you decide!

How Often
DELETE THIS ACCOUNT! replied to Randi Cartmill's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My doc has come in every 4 weeks whether I need a fill or not. He said that will be the case for at least the first year after surgery. I'm not sure what happens after 1 year, however considering my year mark is coming up in a couple months I guess I'm about to find out. -
Divorce After Losing Weight!

What you're doing isn't selfish at all. In fact, it's incredibly smart and brave. It sounds like your marriage was spiraling the drain before you ever had WLS. All the weight loss did was give you the self esteem and confidence to do the right thing and start taking care of yourself. Please, don't ever feel guilty for loving yourself and wanting to be happy. You deserve that! -
9 Months And 152 Pounds

Thank you all for the kind words so much  For the pic request, this is the closest I have right now. This is my daughter and I together, the top one before surgery and the bottom this past summer. -
That happened to me, too. Try taking a Fiber supplement daily. If you're actually getting constipated, take a stool softener (NOT a laxative) like Colace daily until you are a little more regular again. Good luck!

You march in there, holding your head high and proud! Look how much weight you've lost already!! I mean, just think, you're 73 pounds lighter!! One of my favorite sayings: "No one can make you feel inferior without your consent". Don't give them consent.

I'm also an Unjury fan. I'm 9 months post op and still have an Unjury Chocolate Splendor shake for breakfast every morning. -

Don't go by what others have problems with. You may find you have no problems at all. I know many people have issues with things like breads and raw veggies, but I eat both regularly with no problems whatsoever. I eat stuff like pickles, cucumbers, raw carrots and cauliflower, all the time with no issues. -

Go back and have him take it back out. You were perfect before and being too tight puts you at risk for slips. -
Cymbalta And Post Op. Help
DELETE THIS ACCOUNT! replied to Joy1961's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Listen to your pharmacist. He's the expert on prescription drugs. There are many drugs that are time release and opening them/breaking them will cause too much to be in your system too soon. Go back, talk to your pharmacist, and ask if there's any alternatives. -
Smoking seriously increases the risks of post op pneumonia as well as blood clots and pulmonary embolism. It also slows the healing process considerably. I'm sure someone will chime in about how they smoked with no problem, but I'd seriously advise against it. The risks are real and not worth it.

Night reflux and/or cough are a red flag of being too tight. Definitely see your surgeon ASAP.
