Don't be embarrassed many of us struggle with that, including me. I remember being in tears as I waited for them to wheel me into the OR, terrified I wouldn't wake up from the surgery. I had a full blown anxiety attack the night before I was so anxious and scared. I even remember praying like crazy as I waited to fall asleep, going "Please God, don't let me die, and if I do watch over my kids when I'm gone". I was THAT scared. Just remember that millions of people have surgery with no problems and that you're doing this to better your life. Whatever you need to do to get through it- talk, pray, cry, scream, anything- then do it. Do whatever is going to help you through it. There's absolutely nothing to be ashamed of or embarrassed of. You can do this!!

14Cc Band Vs. 4Cc Band

The only difference is the size and the fact the 4cc bands are no longer used. Best wishes! -
Question About Sandwiches And Wraps
DELETE THIS ACCOUNT! replied to wildrose1966's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It depends on the sandwich. If it's a moderate sized, say on flat bread or pita bread, I take small bites. If it's a bigger sandwich, say a melt, then I use a fork and knife to eat it. -
I've never heard of such a thing. In fact, if I were in your shoes, I'd question it and challenge it. Everyone's anatomy is different so everyone requires different fill levels. Saying they don't want to fill anyone over 6cc, despite having say a 10cc band, seems downright ridiculous and illogical. Don't be afraid to ask your doctor questions and speak up for yourself

Bad Experiences
DELETE THIS ACCOUNT! replied to clw126's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Honestly? Yes. It's simple math, if you burn more calories than consume, you will lose weight. If you make good food choices and stick to a cup or less of food per meal, you're pretty much guaranteed to lose to weight. If someone isn't losing, it's because either they're eating too much or making poor food choices. Or both. I have met a couple people that didn't lose by no fault of their own. They were counting calories, exercising, and making good food choices yet not losing. In those few cases the problem was hormonal, medicine, or thyroid related. In those cases it's completely beyond their control and not their fault- but that is definitely the exception not the rule. -
I love soup and eat it pretty regularly. The key with soup is to watch your portion size because it is a slider food. Also, be aware of it's fat and calorie content. Some can be really high in both. Just because something is a slider food doesn't mean you can't have it, it only means you have to be aware of your portion size so you don't accidentally eat too much.

Am I On The High End Of Weight For This To Work?
DELETE THIS ACCOUNT! replied to choochford's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was 421 pounds with a BMI of 72 when I started this journey. I've lost 154 pounds in the last 9 months and my BMI is now in the 40's. I still have a ways to go, but it most certainly can be done! Best wishes to you -
The first thing I'd do is find a new surgeon near you, both to do your fills and guide you. I'd also find a nutritionist near you so they can help you get back on track and establish food guidelines for you to help you lose weight. It's never too late to start over. Today's a new day, so why not make it good one by taking control and start utilizing your band? One point that does need to made. You say you wished they'd take out the band and give you the Sleeve. It's very important you realize that if you continue to eat the way that led you to become overweight to begin with, you're not going to successfully lose weight with the Sleeve either. It doesn't matter which WLS you choose, they're just tools not magic fixes for fat, you have to do the work. The biggest part of that work is adapting a healthy way eating and making good food choices for a lifetime- without it no WLS is going to help. Best wishes to you.

I am, from another surgery separate from Lap Band in August. I am eating all my Protein and taking 5000mcg of Biotin daily, but I still notice it. It's a very common side effect of anesthetic.

Idea Of What Weightloss Is Like For Others With The Band And How Many Calories Were You Told To Eat Each Day?
DELETE THIS ACCOUNT! replied to TIGERLILY1988's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I eat between 1000-1200 calories a day, though I'm usually closer to 1200. My weight loss fluctuates greatly. I've lost as much as 27 pounds in a month and as little as 7 pounds in a month. Yet I've once again lost 11 pounds just in the last week and a half. It varies greatly with little rhyme or reason. -

Hi Sharon and welcome! Medicare is insurance, and it does cover Lap Band. I'm on Medicare due to being disabled by Multiple Sclerosis and my Lap Band surgery was covered by Medicare. Is it possible you're on Medicaid? Maybe got the two confused? Best wishes to you! -
You need to call your doctor immediately. Vomiting so soon after surgery is not good and can be dangerous.

The First Week After Banding Emotion...
DELETE THIS ACCOUNT! replied to EllieD's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
It will, and everything you're going through is totally normal. I remember thinking "oh my gosh what the hell have I done to myself?" and even crying more than once. My emotions were all over the board that first week or two. The fact anesthetic and pain killers can make you rather emotional doesn't help, either. Hang in there, it gets easier and much much better. -

Kickboxing, Band Stretching?
DELETE THIS ACCOUNT! replied to Wolfie022812's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
No if you had a slip, it would be harder to eat not easier. Sometimes bands can be very finicky and unpredictable. Sometimes really tight and you struggle with everything, other times so lose it doesn't even feel like you have a band. I really wouldn't worry about it. If it continues to feel looser and you find you're hungrier than usual, you might just need another fill. As you lose weight your stomach shrinks, thus making the band looser. It's not uncommon to be in the Green Zone for months then suddenly need a fill because your stomach shrank and the band is no longer filled enough. Best wishes. -
What Is The Point
DELETE THIS ACCOUNT! replied to PICTURE PERFECT28's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
To shrink your liver so it's safe for the surgeon to operate. There has been more than one story on these forums of people who've gone in for Lap Band surgery and came out with all the scars but no Lap Band because their liver was too fatty and enlarged for the surgeon to proceed. So, they are closed up with no band. It's very important to stick to the pre op diet if your surgeon gives you one. -
My First Consultation
DELETE THIS ACCOUNT! replied to Lindsey Toppila's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi Lindsey and welcome! At my initial consultation, they weighed me, took my temperature and blood pressure, and went over my medical history with me. They also discussed past weight loss attempts with me and took down my primary care provider info. My insurance was discussed and what it required for surgery. I did meet with the surgeon, too. It was pretty quick, there wasn't much information given to me but rather they took a ton of my information. It was at the seminar I learned a lot. Best wishes! -
Kickboxing, Band Stretching?
DELETE THIS ACCOUNT! replied to Wolfie022812's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
The band doesn't stretch so don't worry about that. You said you were able to eat at a "normal pace" with no problems. What do you consider normal, and were you expecting something otherwise? Are you newly banded? Filling out your profile would help us considerably. -
The average is 1-2 pounds a week, but really, any loss is good. Best wishes to you.
