Kids Have Bad Stomach Flu...what Happens If I Get It And Vomit?
DELETE THIS ACCOUNT! replied to OldMomOf3's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
If you get nauseous, call your surgeon immediately. He'll likely remove the Fluid from the band temporarily and give you something for nausea. If the band is empty, it's less likely to cause a slip when you vomit. Good luck, I'll pray the bug doesn't hit you too. -
Just Got Filled Cant Keep Saliva Down

No, it's not normal. Did you drink water before leaving your doctor's office? Can you drink fluids now? -
Jumped Several Steps
DELETE THIS ACCOUNT! replied to Sandy Benigar's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You have to realize the post op diet has nothing to do with calories whatsoever. It's designed to give your stomach time to heal. By jumping ahead you put yourself at very real risk for serious complications. Go back to whatever stage you're supposed to be on. If that's liquids then go back to liquids. And yes, it's essential that you do tell your doctor. -
Chicken Gyros?
DELETE THIS ACCOUNT! replied to Jlynn217's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Technically speaking, you can eat whatever you want. Anything is ok within moderation. With that said, I'd try to find out what's in it. Some is very fatty, so in which case I'd want to use very little. However, if it was leaner and not so fatty, I'd indulge in a little more. -
Do You Snack Between Meals?
DELETE THIS ACCOUNT! replied to indacrucible's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Honestly, I eat when hungry, regardless of whether that's snacking between meals or skipping meals entirely if I'm not hungry. I pretty much eat what I want so long as it allows me to stay within 1000-1200 calories a day. (and a cup or less of food per meal) -

Lap Band Before & After

I'd bring a robe for sure. Those hospital gowns don't cover your butt worth anything and they'll want you up and walking very soon after surgery. The robe will keep you from giving everyone a free show A house dress or loose sweat pants to come home in. Nothing tight around the waist. I'd have a heating pad at home for any gas pain. Be sure you have what you need for your post op liquid diet already bought and at home, too. -
Eat And Drink And No Issues

No, it's not a sign of anything other than your band isn't too tight. Being in the Green Zone doesn't mean you can't eat certain foods, or that you can't eat large amounts of food, or even that you feel full. Being in the Green Zone means you can be satisfied on little food for longer periods of time. Here's a link to better explain it: http://drsimpson.net...estriction.html -
Getting Banded This Thursday- Question
DELETE THIS ACCOUNT! replied to GodsTyro's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I stayed over night. By the time I got out of the recovery room, I was pretty coherent though. -
I really, really want to lose 3 more pounds. Then I'll officially have less than a hundred left to lose- which is pretty awesome considering I started with over 250 pounds to lose.
-
LOL I so agree. I haven't had any carbonation in almost 10 months, I'll be damned if I'm giving up coffee too!

Perhaps a counselor would help. food addiction is very real and very powerful. There is plenty to "fear", like weight gain, band slips, and health issues. But I don't think fear will help you. Addiction isn't rational and fear rarely plays a role in it. Just like a crack addict knows it can kill them, the fear of death isn't strong enough to tame the addiction. Food addiction is no different. Find a good counselor that deals with addiction, I really think it would help a lot.

Unjury says to mix the powder with 8oz of skim milk, so that is what I've always done.

I think the big problem is people say "a pound a fat is the same as a pound of muscle". This is very true, but by volume there is a big difference because muscle is much more dense than fat. So when comparing them it shouldn't be by weight but by volume. In other words, if you have a cup of muscle it will weigh more than a cup of fat. This is why when you build muscle, your weight loss will temporarily stall, possibly even increase. But, your inches will decrease. Muscle DOES weigh more than fat when you are considering volume- which is what we're comparing. Not pound vs. pound.

I was told that new research proves it can't effect the band, however, it can stimulate your appetite.

It's easy to get impatient. Trust me, I'm just as guilty of it. But losing 1-2 pounds per week is perfect! You're right where you should be. You'll be at your first goal in no time

Stretched Pouch!
DELETE THIS ACCOUNT! replied to loseit's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Because eating too much can and will stretch the pouch. This is why people with the band should never eat more than one cup of food per meal. -
No you're not weird at all, it is much harder to eat out. The portions are giant and looks can be very deceiving. I find knowing what I'm going to order ahead of time helps a lot. For me, that's where my Lose It app comes in. I can look up foods for popular restaurants and see their calorie content. A great example where this helped: I was eating out, had no idea what to order, and though the tuna on English muffin sounded safe. I looked it up on my Lose It app, and I SHOCKED!! Because of what they put in the tuna, it was like 900 calories!!! Who knew a child's size cheeseburger would end up a smarter choice than tuna? It was quite the eye opening experience!!! Most restaurants have their menus online, too. You could always check there ahead of time to get an idea what you should be ordering. It's a major learning experience but it does get easier as you get more used to it.

Please the read link above in my previous response, it will explain it. -
Have a look at this link, I think it does a great job explaining what to and not to expect from the band. I found it to be very helpful and maybe it can help you too http://drsimpson.net/fills/Lap-band-eating/lap-band-not-restriction/lap-band-and-restriction.html

I agree with msmacchi. If you're already struggling to eat properly, I doubt you need a fill. Please keep in mind it doesn't matter how tight (or loose) the band is, you won't lose weight if you're not burning more calories than you consume. Perhaps examine your daily calorie intake, see if changes can be made? Talk to your surgeon, he would know what is best for you. Best wishes.

Stretched Pouch!
DELETE THIS ACCOUNT! replied to loseit's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The only way you could tell is if your surgeon checked it via barium swallow. Please keep in mind the band isn't supposed to stop you from eating anything. It's your job to restrict your portions, not the band's job. The band isn't supposed to physically stop you from eating anything. Here's a link that better explains it: http://drsimpson.net/fills/Lap-band-eating/lap-band-not-restriction/lap-band-and-restriction.html -
To Busy For Pain
DELETE THIS ACCOUNT! replied to takuwinds's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You're in pain because you're only 5 days post op. It's going to be 4-8 weeks before your body has fully recovered inside and out. At only 5 days post op, everything is still very wounded and raw. You have to take it easy and give your body time to heal. -
Typical Post Op Diet????
DELETE THIS ACCOUNT! replied to Mommy2OwenJulia's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My doctor said if it ran off the back of a spoon, then it was a liquid. So SF pudding and yogurt were both allowed. -
The band isn't supposed to stop you from eating anything, so don't rely on it for portion control. The band is simply supposed to satiate your hunger with smaller amounts of food for longer periods of time. Here's an excellent link to explain it: http://drsimpson.net/fills/Lap-band-eating/lap-band-not-restriction/lap-band-and-restriction.html
