    How much Protein?

Most nutritionists say to take your weight times .3 and that is your minimum protein requirement.

    FUNNY comments...

You know what's nuts? Your nurse is right! I was just over 5'4" before I got my band and had been that height since high school. Now? I'm barely 5'3"! I actually did get shorter! I say I must've had a really fat head or something lol!

    Liquid diet.

I'm sorry, but 24 pounds in 2 weeks is totally unrealistic. The average weight loss with the band is 1-2 pounds per week not per day. If I were you, I'd pick a much more attainable and realistic goal so you're not setting yourself up for failure.

    FUNNY comments...

When I went to replace my driver's license and get a new picture taken, the woman looked at my old one and then looked at me and goes "this doesn't even look like you, it looks like your fat cousin". LMAO! I also had a lady at the pharmacy say to me "I hope you're trying to lose all that weight, not dying of cancer or something". (lol wut?)

    What restrictions at 3cc

It all depends on your anatomy and your band size. Some do, some don't. There is no "normal".

    Lapband with plication

You need to go back to the hospital immediately. Dehydration is very dangerous and vomiting with the band, especially only a couple days after surgery, is also very dangerous. Best wishes.

    No PreOp Diet???

Make a list before you go so you don't forget to ask anything. And, don't be afraid to ask him a zillion questions, even if they seem silly or little.

    No PreOp Diet???

Nope none. My surgery was actually surprisingly easy.

    How Much Did You Lose?

I don't know how much 2 weeks post op, but according to my monthly records I'd lost 44 pounds in the first 4 weeks.

    Water intake question

Coffee and tea, no because they're not water. Crystal light in water, yes.

    No PreOp Diet???

    I didn't have a pre-op diet either and I was really big. 421 pounds with a BMI of 72.

    Nuva Ring

I think it's a wise idea. I didn't go off hormonal birth control before my surgery this past May (not Lap Band though) and I ended up with life threatening blood clots in both legs. It's always better safe than sorry. I think you're being smart.

Does anyone else want a glass of wine???

I would follow whatever your doctor's instructions are. They all seem to have their own ideas on the topic so it's best to just stick with whatever yours says. Personally, I stay away from alcohol most of the time because of the calories. If I do indulge once in awhile, I'm just careful to count the calories against my daily allowance.
  15. I actually had someone PM me, accusing me of lying about my weight loss. "No one can lose that much, that fast, with the Lap Band". Ummm, yeah you can and I did. What a moron.

    Go see your doctor.

    Daily calories

Unfortunately, we really can't answer that. Some eat as little as 600 calories and some eat upwards of 1500 calories daily. There is no "right" answer, it's a matter of your metabolism and health needs. Ask your nutritionist to be safe. They know what's best for your specific situation.

    Alcohol before surgery?

You need to ask your doctor to be sure, but I'm guessing no. Alcohol is a blood thinner and they tell you to stop all blood thinners (alcohol, NSAIDS, etc) 2 weeks before surgery.

    boycotting CVS....

This reminds me of when daughter was a little girl, maybe 3 years old, and my cousin and I tricked her into trying seafood pizza. It was a Chicago style stuffed pizza and when you cut a slice, you could clearly see the different fish inside. We told her it was "special string cheese" so she'd actually try it. First bite... no problem Second bite... she must've got a fishy piece, because she made this horrific face. She was actually twitching a little as she whined and pushed the plate away going "I don't like that kind of cheese!" LMAO! For the record, we made it up to her by taking her to a yummy greek bakery down the street after

    Another question, strong hiccups?

They likely only hurt because your tummy is still healing. Once you're past the healing phase, you may still have strong hiccups but they shouldn't hurt. You don't have to worry about a slip from hiccups, either. I have what my kids and I call "hiccurps". It's a combination hiccup and burp I get whenever I'm done eating. I get about a half dozen of them every single time. It makes my kids laugh lol.

LOL! You know, I think we should make some fish without telling you it's fish and see if you like it!

    Posts in the media too!

The pictures I honestly found by accident. I was searching "lap band" and "photos" and I found that article with the pictures by sheer luck. The Twitter I found because on my own Twitter, I saw a girl who had both MS and had WLS (like me!). When I looked at who she followed, LapBand Talk was one. So of course I had a look and there it was.
