Is It True

Everyone is different, but most of us can physically eat bread so long as we're careful. (and when you're back on solids food) -
Not Feeling Full Like I Should
DELETE THIS ACCOUNT! replied to Ibsweet1's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You shouldn't be eating until you're full, you should be eating until you're satisfied, and they are not the same. Here's a link to better explain it: http://drsimpson.net/fills/Lap-band-eating/lap-band-not-restriction/lap-band-and-restriction.html -
Carb Cycling- An Experiment Gone Right!

Yeah it's TONS easier than Atkins, mostly because every other day you get a carb free for all so you don't feel deprived. -
Is It A Big Adjustment Going From Bandster Hell To Your First Fill ?
DELETE THIS ACCOUNT! replied to marketingdude's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I personally would prefer a doctor with conservative fills. It may be frustrating at times when you're waiting to get into the Green Zone, but it's a lot easier to gradually ease into it than to fill too aggressively and blow right past it into too tight, and then you're in a nasty cycle of adding and removing Fluid trying to find it. Just my opinion, mind you, -

Is It A Big Adjustment Going From Bandster Hell To Your First Fill ?
DELETE THIS ACCOUNT! replied to marketingdude's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You say you can eat anything... there's no reason you shouldn't. The band isn't supposed to physically stop you from eating anything. It's not supposed to control your portions, either. It's simply supposed to keep you satisfied on less food for longer periods of time. It's highly unlikely you'll notice much difference after just one fill. Some are lucky and they can tell, but most require multiple fills before they're in the Green Zone. For me, the Green Zone came on gradually over 3 or 4 fills so the adjustment was minor as well. The best thing you can do is take small bites, chew thoroughly, and stick to band sized portions from the very beginning. Good luck. -
Your Last Supper......
DELETE THIS ACCOUNT! replied to FLORIDAYS's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had a huge Reuben sandwich, fries, and a huge Coke. I also had probably half a chocolate mousse pie and a ton of Reese Peanut Butter cups. Hell I spent the entire week before just grazing and eating pure crap lol. I honestly wish I knew then what I know now. I saw it as my "last meal", my last chance. Aside from the Coke (which I don't even miss) I didn't realize I could still have it all in moderation. When I think of eating all that now it makes me nauseous. -

Solids After Surgery
DELETE THIS ACCOUNT! replied to Kiro's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Then you should not be eating solids. Period. No exceptions. The surgeon gave you the post op diet to allow your stomach time to heal. It has nothing to do with hunger or weight loss. By not following his instructions and skipping right to solid foods, you are putting yourself at very real risk of injury or complications. If you're smart, you'll go back to puree foods as instructed and tell your surgeon what you did. This way he can make sure you haven't done any damage. Good luck. -
Menstrual Pain Or Lap Band Discomfort?
DELETE THIS ACCOUNT! replied to KristineNote's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You need to find an actual bariatric surgeon. Please don't take this offensively, I don't mean it to be, but you shouldn't be letting someone with "limited knowledge" of the Lap Band touch it to begin with. It's simply not worth the risks to your health and well being. Find a real bariatric surgeon and get it checked out. It's always better safe than sorry. Best wishes. -

Was this was your doctor said to do? Go straight from liquids to solids? -
I started only telling those very close to me, but now I'll tell anyone and everyone. I have nothing to hide. Plus, it's a great opportunity for me to educate others on the fact vs. fiction of Lap-Band. Because I've been honest, one friend got Lap-Band a couple months ago and another is getting it next month.

It's only carried online. You can find it here: http://www.unjury.com/store/protein/

I don't find myself needing snacks, to be honest. When I do, on low carb days, I eat a spoonful of Peanut Butter or a piece of Babybel cheese. -
Lap Band Advice? Slipped?

Follow up with your doctor tomorrow and demand a barium swallow to check your band placement. It definitely sounds like something isn't right. Good luck. -
Band Over Bypass And Not Losing Yet:(
DELETE THIS ACCOUNT! replied to TarraB's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
You have to realize that fills don't make you lose weight, eating healthy small portions is what makes you lose weight. It's not easy in the beginning, but if you want to lose before you have adequate Fluid in your band you have to stick to a cup or less of food per meal and make sure you're making good food choices. Are you tracking your calories? Have you seen a nutritionist? I would strongly suggest doing both if you haven't already. Making good food choices is crucial to success with the band. Just remember, the band won't physically stop you from eating anything nor will it make good food choices for you. It's just a tool to help you feel satisfied on less food for longer periods of time. The work will always be yours to do. Best wishes to you. -
Surprised And Disappointed, Gaining Weight After Three Years

I would go back to your nutritionist. Have them help you get back on track, set up food guidelines that work with your lifestyle, and get advice how to stop the cycle. I would also see your surgeon to see if you need a fill or not. You have the tools, start using them. Best wishes to you. -
I've never tried it, however if you have skin rashes, I would see your doctor. Some insurance companies will actually pay to have the excess skin removed when documented skin rashes are given to them by your doctor.

Driver's Licence Pics- Before And After
DELETE THIS ACCOUNT! posted a topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Well, for the last couple months I'd been having serious problems convincing people my driver's license was really mine. I looked absolutely nothing like the picture on it anymore. I have to fly in a couple weeks so I thought I'd better get a new one before then for fear security wouldn't let me pass because my ID didn't even look like me. So.. here is my old and new driver's license pics. On left taken November 2011. On the right October 2012. Almost 160 pounds lost -
You say I can eat anything but can go longer periods without hunger. That's exactly what the band is supposed to do. It's not supposed to physically stop you from eating anything, just satiate your hunger. About how many calories a day are you eating? If you don't track calories, I would. Are you sticking to a cup or less of food per meal? If not, you should. Have you been to a nutritionist?

Be Honest- Is Banded Life Hard?
DELETE THIS ACCOUNT! replied to ireallywannabthin's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I still have cravings but nothing like what I used to. Truth is, if a craving nags me for awhile, I will give into it but in moderation. I can have just one Peanut Butter cup, I realize I don't need a pound bag of miniature ones to appease a craving. Because of this, I don't feel deprived either. I honestly don't think it's hard at all. It's much harder to be 400 pounds and miserable, trust me. I'm happier and healthier than I've ever been in my adult life. -

I was really afraid of the cheat day, too. Mine was yesterday. I did exactly as instructed, I cheated breakfast and lunch only. I had a sensible dinner and nothing after dinner. I woke up 3 pounds lighter this morning. I'm not kidding. I was shocked.
