    I've never heard of anyone being denied because of depression. When I had my surgery, I was on Xanax for anxiety and I admitted to being depressed as well. When they asked me why I was depressed I snickered sarcastically and said "I'm a 400 pound, single mother, with MS. Do I really need another reason?" Despite my sarcasm and honesty, I was approved

    Don't feel bad. I dropped my kids at school, came home,and went back to bed. The problem is, when I sleep my band gets super tight, which is the main reason I always have Protein shakes for breakfast. So I woke up again just before lunch...took two bites of mac and cheese...and it's just not happening. WAY too tight from sleeping! It happens

  11. Some people do take many fills before they have adequate Fluid in their band. I've read of people who ended up with their bands nearly full after a year of fills. Just because you're not in the Green Zone yet doesn't mean you won't be. I hate to say it, but you're going to have to be patient with your fills. 54 pounds since May is very good weight loss, btw. Don't underestimate how far you've already come. Best wishes to you.

    Is It Ok To "tweek" Your Dr's Diet Plan

    If you need a break, have the pasta, just have it in moderation and stay within your daily calorie allowance. Depriving yourself is setting yourself up for failure. Remember, there are no off limits foods. Everything is allowed in moderation. If it makes you feel better about the carbs... I've lost 165 pounds in 10 months and I eat carbs regularly and have the entire time since surgery.

    Slider Foods And Pb

    PB is productive burping, it's essentially burping stuck food back up. Very different than vomiting as no stomach spasms and it's much more gentle. Slider foods are foods that go right through the band, like milkshakes, Soup, and ice cream. They're bad because you really over-eat them easily and frequently.

    Vomiting After Surgery?

    Vomiting with the band is never good, vomiting so soon after surgery is dangerous. Call your doctor and see if they can call an anti-nausea medicine into your local pharmacy. They do sell OTC anti-nausea meds too but they're not as effective. I'm not trying to scare you, but do whatever you must NOT to vomit right now. You have new sutures in your stomach that are just starting to heal and vomiting could do damage. Best wishes.

    Is It Ok To "tweek" Your Dr's Diet Plan

    Diets are not one size fits all. This is a common mistake doctors and nutritionists both make. Some do great with low carb, others fail miserably. Granted this is just my opinion, but if I were in your shoes, I'd go see a nutritionist. Tell them what your doctor is recommending and why it simply won't work for you. Hopefully they'll then help you come up with a food plan better suited for your lifestyle and needs. Btw, contrary to popular belief at the moment, carbs aren't bad. It's the quantity and kind of carbs you eat that can make them "bad".

    It'll get easier as you go, the bloated icky feeling is normal. Definitely start measuring your food now. No more than 1 cup of food total per meal. Right now you likely won't be able to finish it all, and that's perfectly fine if you don't eat it all, but it gets you in the habit of having band sized portions so you don't over-eat. Btw, I went straight for the mashed potatoes on the mushy phase too lol

    I honestly use the book as a guideline, not a bible. I know my needs are going to be different the people who normally buy it- namely I'm a bariatric patient and they're not. I know I need to alternate high and low carb days, I know I can't eat carbs after dinner ever, I know I have to eat within 30 minutes of waking up, and I know Breakfast needs to have some carbs. Otherwise...I'm winging it LOL! It's a learning process to figure out what works, you know?

    I honestly don't count or care how high they get on high carb days. I've been as high as 220g on the high carb days, but I usually end up around 150-180g.

    LOL I think you found it on some website!! Look at it as a percentage. There is a big difference between someone eating 1700 calories a day and 50g of carbs and someone eating 1000 calories a day and 50g of carbs. Do you know what I mean? Again, I'm just playing with the numbers too. I just set on 30-40g because I eat so little to begin with and percentage wise it makes sense.

    Honestly, you need to meet with a nutritionist. Everyone is different with different needs, a nutritionist can help you establish yours and set up reasonable guidelines.

    I try to keep my carbs around 30g on low carb days, 40g being the absolute maximum. Today is my low carb day too btw. I am keeping it low because because I eat less calories, as most bandsters do. So, I feel like percentage wise I need to keep the carbs lower than the "normal" person. Today I had crab meat wrapped in a piece of cheese for lunch, 1 tablespoon of Peanut Butter for snack, and I'll have a salad with ham and cheese for dinner. Between my Protein shake this morning and the dressing I'll put on my salad tonight (and in the peanut butter) I'll have 34g of carbs today. I'm not saying this is "right", btw. It's just the numbers I've settled on for myself.
