What Was Your 1 Month Loss?? & Where Did You Stop Getting Fills
DELETE THIS ACCOUNT! replied to diamante's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I didn't have a pre-op diet (yes, I was one of the lucky ones) and I lost 27 pounds my first month. I currently have 4.9cc in my 10cc band and am definitely in the Green Zone. -
Carb Cycling- An Experiment Gone Right!

I have never been a carb counter, either. I'm not going to lie, eating on the low carb days has been a bit of a struggle. But, as I find more stuff to eat that I actually like, it gets easier every day. Here's the weird thing: Chris says that carb cycling will cut your carb cravings. I didn't think it was possible but he's very right. It's so odd but now, I honestly have no desire to do my nightly carb graze anymore. Another thing I've noticed: On the low carb days, I spend the day with no appetite. The protein is just so filling I have to actually remind myself to eat. On the high carb days, I'm a lot more hungry. -

Floridays is right. You will have to drastically change your eating habits to healthy ones and will have to restrict your portions. The band is only a tool, the work will forever be yours to do. The difference is, the band is there to satiate your hunger. So maybe you were on 1200 calories a day in past diets. You were likely starving to death, too. When you have adequate Fluid in your band, that feeling constantly starving is no longer an issue. In fact, many of us actually struggle to get in enough calories because our appetite is so significantly decreased. The nutritionist a great thing and will be a huge asset in your journey. -

No, there's no way I can do 5 meals. I am lucky to get 1000 calories a day on 3 meals and a small snack. I simply can't eat that much anymore. I have known I'd have to change up the plan to fit my bandster lifestyle. Like the 3 meals rather than 5, less calories a day, and I am not cutting milk out of my diet either. I'm pretty much sticking to high and low carb days, no more than 1300 calories a day (I don't come even close to that), no carbs after 6pm. In fact, I'm trying not to eat at all after dinner. For me, I think this is really important. I'm essentially going Atkins on the low carb days, high protein and high fat but low carbs. From everything I'm reading, trying to do both low carb and low fat is actually dangerous. It's very bad for internal organs, especially your heart, so it's important to get that fat in on low carb days. It's just very hard to wrap my brain around it, especially since high carb days are low fat. I looked back at my other logs, and all last week I was eating between 50-60g of fat on the low carb days so it wasn't just the one day. Obviously, it worked too because I lost considerably. One final note- I am down another half pound this morning, too. -

This is exactly what got me thinking about the fat content. I did Atkins too and I know fats were good on it. So, I did research, and it's true for any low carb at that level. The reason being is in the absence of carbs, the body needs fuel, and that is fat on low carbs days. Plus, low fat foods are higher in carbs. -

Ok so I am reading more, and I'm wrong on the fat thing. It should be high on low carb days. Here's a great calculator I even found: http://www.freedieti..._calculator.htm Here is what I should be eating on a low carb diet for a max of 1300 calories: CARBOHYDRATE 30g PROTEIN 135g FAT 60g -

Ok I'm planning my food for the day and I cannot get my fat below 40g for the low carb day. I'm considering asking Chris on Facebook about this. -
You need to get into your doctor immediately. Any time you're struggling with liquids warrants an immediate trip to see your surgeon.

I'm not aiming for fat grams as much as I am percentage. I looked back at my logs and I saw my percentage was a whopping 51% fat! That's WAY too much!! I think I need to keep it to a maximum of like 35% for the low carb days. I'm going to give it a try and see if it's doable tomorrow. -

No weight loss the last couple days, but I'm also very sure my low carb days had WAY too much fat. So, tomorrow I'll be doing low carb with less fat. It's a learning experience! ..I also started a new pack of birth control pills on Sunday, last week was my off week. If my weight stalls again because of the stupid pill, I'm calling my gyno to see if she can put me on something else. -

One thing I am finding is key, and Chris talks about it in the book and on Dr. Oz as well, is absolutely no carbs after 6pm/dinner. -
Major Question
DELETE THIS ACCOUNT! replied to Anali11's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If your surgery goes text perfect, yes, but you will be exhausted and sore. If you have even the slightest issue it'll likely be too soon. Ideally, they recommend a week off work for people with office/sit down jobs. -

Pregnancy Scare After Lapnand?
DELETE THIS ACCOUNT! replied to Beth A's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If you don't want to get pregnant right now, I'd definitely get on some birth control ASAP. Band babies are very common! I just started taking birth control pills last month for this very reason. No babies for me, I'm done! LOL -
Because smaller pouch or not, if the band is placing little to no restriction on the stomach, then food just falls through as if no band is there.

Welcome Kristy and good luck on Friday! Let us know how it goes! -
I'm not sure I understand what you mean. If your nutritionist didn't give you enough info, go back and ask specifically what you need to know. In the meantime, count calories, stick to a cup or less of food per meal, and make healthy food choices. As far as working out, you'll have to ask a trainer or even your doctor. We don't know anything about your medical history or physical needs so we can't help with that. The average weight loss for someone with a band is 1-2 pounds a week, so I'd plan on that for the speed at which you lose the 35 pounds.

Call your doctor and go in for a slight unfill. -
Sweet potatoes are a great dish because they're loaded in nutrients. I'm making Green Bean casserole but I'm using the low fat cream Soup and skim milk in it. The rest I'll just have in moderation.

It really depends. Because everyone's anatomy is different, and surgeons don't all place the bands identically, there's a very wide array of experiences. Some people have a lot of restriction with just their band and no fluid, others need their band almost full to have any.
