That is not normal nor is it band related. You need to see your primary care doctor.

There's no problem taking them, however I'd read around the internet. A lot of people are reporting they're just another gimmick and worthless. Even Dr. Oz has pulled his support for it publicly on his show.

Wow very interesting information, thank you for sharing!

When I was being banded, my roommate in the hospital was in there because her band slipped and she needed a new band. Her stomach actually prolapsed up through the band. She told me it slipped because she was regularly drinking soda and told me to "learn from her mistake and never touch carbonation". She also gained back 40 pounds, too. I never forget her and or her story. It was enough to scare me out of ever touching carbonation again.

Things I Didn't Even Think Of...

If you work an office/desk job, a week off is usually enough. If your work requires lifting/manual labor, you'll probably need more time. -
That's very normal. You may look and feel ok on the outside, but your body has been through a lot and is still healing on the inside. You had a lot of tissue cut, including muscle, and it takes a lot of energy for the body to heal the damage. Hence, the fatigue. It takes most people at least 8 weeks to truly be back to normal.

I'm very sorry to hear this. What is the plan now? Are you on liquids to try to let it go back into place, or do you need more surgery?

The Deal With Beer.....

I have heard others say their surgeons say the same. In fact, I have an aunt with the band and her surgeon allows her carbonation, too. I honestly don't know what is true, I only know I'm personally terrified to touch it. I actually just bought a pair of spanx in an effort to tame my excess tummy skin. It does work and it doesn't roll down, my only complaint is I feel like it makes me look thicker in the gut from pulling all the skin upward.

Personally. you couldn't pay me to touch carbonation since being banded. It's simply not worth the risk of slips or other complications. -
Skin>-----12 Days Until The Beginning Of A New World.

I'm 5'4 and started off much heavier than you, I was 421 pounds. I am now 10 months post op and have lost 166 pounds so far. I won't lie, I have a lot of skin. I look like a Shar Pei naked, it's not pretty. But, my insurance is paying for a tummy tuck because I've lost more than a 100 pounds. I'm also starting to document skin issues on my thighs to see if they'll cover that skin removal, too. But, even if I didn't get the skin removed, I'd still choose being smaller with loose skin over being gigantically obese any day. I still look and feel TONS better. -
What is an Iband? Is that a band with plication?

Weight Gain????? Why???
DELETE THIS ACCOUNT! replied to PJ Geeser's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
First, are you sure your scale is accurate? Is it anywhere near period time? Have you been having a lot of sodium? All these things can definitely make the scale go up. You also should realize how greatly the body can fluctuate in weight from day to day. I have seen the scale bounce 3 pounds up and then down 4 in a week's time. Body weight isn't constant by a long shot. Also, you are very newly banded. Your body is in some major shock, between the surgery itself and the post op diet, it seriously doesn't know which way is up right now. This is a big part of the reason I always tell people the first 4-6 weeks after surgery are for healing, not losing, to give your body time to recover. I know it's hard but don't be discouraged. Give your body time to adjust and heal. You're very much on the right track. Hang in there. -
Yes, I have a mother's ring that started off tight on my middle finger. Now it's so big it literally falls off my ring finger. As others have stated, if it's gold or silver, a jewelry will resize it for you

Unless you're severely diabetic, it actually can't hurt you. I've researched this for weeks and it's actually much safer than low carb all the time. -

The Hunger Growl
DELETE THIS ACCOUNT! replied to weeze88's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm 10 months post op and my stomach is very noisy. My kids laugh because we'll all be watching a movie, then out of the silence my stomach will start growling and talking loudly lol. It's not hunger, though. It's just stomach noises. It's a bit difficult in the beginning to realize it, but just because you're stomach is growling and noisy doesn't mean you're hungry. -
How Soon After Banding
DELETE THIS ACCOUNT! replied to Krystle Austin's topic in Pregnancy with Weight Loss Surgery
Most surgeons recommend waiting at least a year after surgery to try to get pregnant. Some even go so far as to require their female patients to be on birth control for that first year (unless they can't have kids anymore, of course) -
Last Christmas I weighed 421 pounds. My recent goal was to be under 250 pounds by this Christmas. Only 6 more pounds to go and I'll reach that mini-goal! *fingers crossed*
