Left shoulder pain problem
DELETE THIS ACCOUNT! replied to ladyann2323's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Actually, I think it's great your surgeon's office are sending you to a cardiologist. Some people do have the shoulder pain issue because of their band, however way too often people assume everything is band related and miss major health issues because of it. It's a good thing your surgeon isn't assuming it's band related. -

Night coughs are a major red flag of a band too tight. You need to call your surgeon so he can decide if you need some Fluid removed. -
Heartburn

Wow...that's really fast. Perhaps your body just isn't ready. Most of us don't get back to solid foods for 4-6 weeks after surgery. -

Chicken strips and fries seems like way too much only 3 weeks post op. Are you supposed to be on solid food already? -
I wouldn't say I "suffer" from it. Truth is, it doesn't really bother me. Once in awhile I get light headed because of it but otherwise it's no big deal. I used to have high blood pressure, like 145/120. Since losing weight, I've seen my blood pressure go as low as 90/57. Typically it's been around 100/70. I would ask your doctor to do a full blood work up to be sure it's not a medical issue, and if it's not, just do as he says and accept it as normal for you.

Since losing weight, I am in love with pajama pants. I know, sounds weird right? But I was always too big to wear them, especially my giant gut. Now, I wish I could live in them! Sooo comfy!

I'm a huge Foo Fighters fan. I listen to a lot of them when out walking. However, my current favorite is this (I like a really wide variety of music lol)

The collarbone thing is a biggy! So are the ribs!! I am actually in love with my collar bone, in fact my daughter has even commented that I should wear shirts that show off my shoulder and collar bone more often because it looks really good. The rib thing is kinda funny. Between your ribs, in the center of your rib cage, there is a connective area called the xiphoid process. I actually went to my doctor in a panic because I had this "big weird bump" on my chest in the middle of my rib cage. He actually laughed at me and goes "ummm, that's you, not a tumor. I'm guessing you've just never been small enough to feel or see it before" So...yeah..I freaked out over my own rib cage -
You definitely need to talk to your doctor. What you describe doesn't sound like the Green Zone, it sounds like you're too tight. What you're experiencing is Acid Reflux and that can be very dangerous with the band and lead to erosion. Acid Reflux is never normal with the band. Another sign you're too tight is the fact you have food sitting above the band. Food is not supposed to sit above the band. Ever. Food is supposed to pass through the band in about a minute. If food does sit above the band, you're at risk for erosion, esophageal dilation, and slips. Definitely give your doctor a call. Good luck.

Everything you're feeling right now is normal. It will get easier to drink normally once you're healed and your stomach isn't swollen. In the meantime, just sip all the time so you stay well hydrated. You'll be fine. Best wishes -

Got my band yesterday!
DELETE THIS ACCOUNT! replied to t-ray's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Just friendly advice, but that's a terrible idea. It's crucial that you stick to your doctor's post op diet exactly as directed and not cheat at all. Your stomach has been sutured, manipulated, and wounded. By cheating on your post op diet you're putting yourself at risk for ripping a stitch and other very serious complications. I know it's hard but you'll survive it and it'll be behind you before you know it. -

If I were you, I'd check with your local hospitals for a reference to a bariatric surgeon. -

Interesting Coincidence or Did Band Eating Contribute to Gluten Intolerance?
DELETE THIS ACCOUNT! replied to stateofzen's topic in WLS Veteran's Forum
It's an interesting thing to consider. I can very much see where you can draw a connection between the two. I know logically the band can't cause gluten intolerance but I can't help but wonder if someone is already borderline, going low carb long term then introducing gluten again doesn't make it worse. Kinda like if you go low fat for a long time, then eat greasy fat food, it can make you really sick because your body it's no longer used to it. Perhaps gluten reacts similar in some people? -
Had a birthday dinner for my cousin at a VERY high end restaurant last night (I'm guessing the bottle of wine alone was about $500). It was so amazing to be able to wear cute clothes and actually dress appropriately. I am no longer be the fat the chic wearing awful clothes because they're the only ones that fit.
