Sounds like you're doing great!

My opinion is no, but that's just my opinion. I've lost 187 pounds with the Lap Band and I didn't have to have 3/4 of my stomach hacked out to do it. I think the Lap Band is awesome. But, I'm sure someone who's done well with the Sleeve would say it's better. It all comes down to personal opinion. There is no right or wrong answer.

I use about 3/4 cup cereal with 1/2 cup skim milk. But I don't drink the milk. (I've never been a milk fan)

I love cereal and eat it all the time! I eat Cheerios, Honey Bunches of Oats, and Cinnamon Rice Chex pretty regularly.

4 weeks post op and lots of nausea
DELETE THIS ACCOUNT! replied to Augustina's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Definitely get back into your doctor ASAP. At a month post op, you definitely shouldn't still be having surgery related nausea. Plus vomiting with the band is dangerous so you definitely need something to stop it. Not to get too personal, but could you be pregnant? I know it's unlikely but when you said morning vomiting it was my first thought. Best wishes! -
Going Incognito Without Trying
DELETE THIS ACCOUNT! posted a topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I have decided one of the most amusing aspects of losing a ton of weight is the ability to go incognito without even trying. Multiple times over the last 6 months, I have run into people from my past who had no idea who I was until I told them. In fact, my own aunt didn't even recognize me! Now, when this is becomes fun is when you run into someone you don't like. Today, I was at the grocery store with my boyfriend. We turned down the aisle and I immediately saw this woman from my past and went out loud "oh sh*t". My boyfriend gave me an odd look and I just shook my head. I almost turned away from the aisle to avoid her but then thought....hmmmm....I bet she won't even recognize me. Sure enough, she ended up right next to me. She even looked right at me. Absolutely zero recognition. She had no idea who I was. I was able to walk right by her without so much as a second glance. Going incognito without even trying is seriously awesome -
Mushies/soft food phase
DELETE THIS ACCOUNT! replied to ireallywannabthin's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well for me, soft foods were a totally separate phase from the mushy phase. I could have chili if I put it through the blender during the mushy phase but I could have it normal during the soft phase. -
Punctuation is important when trying to communicate via the written word. Please, don't write 10 line posts without a single capital letter or any punctuation whatsoever. It's too hard to read and people like me just won't bother even trying.

Here's a simple formula to figure out how much Protein you need: How to Calculate Your Protein Needs: 1. Weight in pounds divided by 2.2 = weight in kg 2. Weight in kg x 0.8gm/kg = protein gm So if you weigh 200 pounds, it would be 200 / 2.2= 90 90 x 0.8= 72g of protein per day

I do know you can have too much Protein and if your more susceptible it can cause major kidney problems. Because high protein also tends to be high fat, you can see a spike in your cholesterol from it, too. Years ago I tried Atkins and while I did lose, I also ended up in the hospital with a major kidney infection. I was told there was a build up of protein in my kidneys that caused it. Mind you, I'm the exception not the rule, but too much protein can cause problems. It's always best to have your doctor run a blood panel and check your urine if you have any concerns or doubts.

No lost a single pound
DELETE THIS ACCOUNT! replied to kershe's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Are you counting calories? Are you sticking to a cup or less of food per meal? Are you getting in all your Protein? Also keep in mind the first 4-6 weeks post op are for healing not losing. -
Seriously Embarrassed !
DELETE THIS ACCOUNT! replied to Destined*Lady*D's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oh yeah, I cracked more than one toilet seat before I lost some weight. I also broke a chair at my cousin's house. Then there's the hundreds of chairs I tried to sit in publicly only to find I didn't fit. Yup...we've all been there. It sucks. ((hugs)) -
For most, the simplest way to lose weight is to count calories. It's the only way you can be sure you're not eating too much. It all comes down to math- when you burn more calories than you consume you will lose. I would also see a nutritionist. They can help you establish food guidelines specifically for your lifestyle needs. Best wishes.

How to Sleep After...
DELETE THIS ACCOUNT! replied to Destined*Lady*D's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I didn't have any leaking after the Lap Band surgery, however it is possible. I always put down an old towel for the first week after surgery. This way if I do leak out an incision, it only ruins the towel not the sheet or mattress. -
Scar Question

I still like good old fashioned coco butter for scars, specifically Palmer's Cocoa Butter. -
Just a question
DELETE THIS ACCOUNT! replied to Hope2013's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Because you just had your stomach stitched and it needs time to heal. Going against your doctor's orders isn't even remotely smart. Stick to your doctor's post op diet so you don't risk complications or a slip. -
I don't blame you in the least, I wouldn't want to be going through that many operations over and over either. Not to mention the scarring of your stomach tissue from multiple operations wouldn't be good. I do know that statistically speaking, what has happened to you is very rare. The chances of it happening again down the road is even more rare. Maybe ask your doctor the chances of this happening again? At the end of the day, regardless of statistics and what your doctor says, you have to do what is best for you.

Oh my goodness, I'd be beyond frustrated and upset in your shoes. I'm so sorry you're going through this. If I had to make your decision, I think I'd want my band completely replaced. You did extremely well with your band so it's obviously a very good tool for you. I would stick with what works. Btw, I'd be seriously pissed at your doctor if I were you. Replacing the port is only part of the band and obviously your leak is in either the tubing or the band itself. It's ridiculous that you had to go so long with Fluid continuously disappearing when a leak was so evident. Best wishes with whatever you decide.
-
You need to fill out your profile so we can better help you. When was your surgery? Keep in mind the amount in your band is completely irrelevant. 4.2 may be nothing to one person and too much for another. My first thought is like TMF, you're likely eating too much, too big, and not chewing enough. However if that isn't the case then you may need a slight unfill. Best wishes.

Sushi after banding??
DELETE THIS ACCOUNT! replied to NurseKelly's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I eat a couple pieces of sushi whenever it's available. I've never had a problem with it. -
Ask your doctor because many won't allow any alcohol until a couple months have passed since surgery. Best wishes.
