You think Lap Band surgery is high? Check this out...
DELETE THIS ACCOUNT! replied to Terry Poperszky's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Wow what an eye opening video. Thanks for sharing. -
It's when you have enough Fluid in your band to control your hunger. If you can eat a cup or less of food and go at least 4 hours without hunger, you're in the Green Zone.
-
There isn't anything you can't eat, however, whether or not it's a wise food choice is another matter completely. I think you'd have to figure out how many calories and how much fat is in it. You may also want to consider it's sodium content too. If after doing this you decide you still want it, just be sure you work it into your daily calorie allowance. Best wishes

Just venting

The only way you can know if your band slipped is by having your doctor check it. You wouldn't necessarily have symptoms. I would strongly suggest going to see your nutritionist so they can help you get back on track and establish food guidelines you can live with. I would also discuss your issues with your surgeon. It's imperative you get your eating habits under control with the band before you do hurt yourself. Your surgeon and nutritionist can help you do that. Best wishes. -
Unfilled band question
DELETE THIS ACCOUNT! replied to koolkel's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes, in fact most people do need multiple fills before they have adequate Fluid in their band. But please keep in mind the band isn't supposed to cause discomfort or stop you from eating anything. So don't assume just because you can eat/gulp without a problem doesn't mean you need a fill. If you can't go at least 4 hours on cup or less of food without being hungry, then you need a fill. Best wishes. -

Until you have adequate Fluid in your band, you will likely feel like you don't have a band at all. It takes most people multiple fills before they're finally in the Green Zone. The only way I made it through that phase you're in is by spacing my calories through the day to allow me to eat every 2 hours. I never went over my daily calorie allowance and never ate more than a cup of food per meal, but eating every 2 hours helped me to control the hunger until I had adequate fluid in my band. It also helped me to consistently lose weight during that time, too. Hang in there, it does get better. -
Everything you said is totally true, however unfortunately in this case this post is no more than a sales pitch. The link is to her own website, she's trying to make money off selling these (useless) things to us. This is the second person trying to sell the identical product here in the last month, btw.
-
Nope I honestly don't feel it at all, not even a prick.
-
Every doctor seems to have their own way to do fills. Some numb it first and others don't. I've never heard of a surgeon using sedation for a fill, to me that would be overkill. Mine doesn't numb it but I never feel it anyway. It's really no biggie.

Watching Dr. Oz and it was suggested to sleep naked because your body will burn more calories trying to keep warm. Yeah baby! LOL!
-
I think you should leave that decision up to your surgeon. If you had to have .25cc removed then getting that same amount put back in would likely be a mistake. If you have another fill, I would try a smaller amount, like even .1cc

When did your toughest weight loss plateau occur?
DELETE THIS ACCOUNT! replied to Alex Brecher's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
My biggest plateau was 9 months after surgery. I went on the birth control pill and my weight loss came to a screeching halt for 6-7 weeks. It was incredibly frustrating. The way I finally broke it was by carb cycling for a few weeks. Ever since I've been consistently losing approximately 8-12 pounds a month. -

Holy heck, you almost made me spew my coffee laughing!! 1. Commercials- yes I noticed the same thing. I actually find it amusing, because it seems every other commercial is for some horribly unhealthy food but then the next is for some diet plan. First I'm seeing some dude in a fast food parking lot eating a burger that looks like it belongs on an episode of the Flintstones followed by Sharon Osborne selling the Atkins diet. 2. Bathroom.....ummm...yeah. I'm not even gonna lie, I can clear a room in seconds flat. I am the queen of silent but deadly gas bombs. I'm often thankful we have 3 cats to blame it on, however now my family thinks we need to change their food because "cat farts aren't supposed to be that rancid". Ooops! 3. sleep. I'm happy to report that once I got passed the recovery period, my sleeping habits returned to normal. I'm like you, I am not a morning person. My mom even bought me a nightshirt that says "perky morning people should be shot". I'm happily back to being a night owl again. Please keep posting...you are like a breath of comedic fresh air Best wishes! -
How many carbs should be consumed in one day
DELETE THIS ACCOUNT! replied to baba's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've actually seriously considered trying this. It seems a lot more balanced, especially when if you're sticking to good carbs and staying away from saturated fats. -
Ok first, it's impossible for any "herbs" to make fat melt through your skin and into a wrap. If it was possible, none of us would need anything to lose weight. Second, all of these stupid wraps work one of two ways: Diuretics or thermogentics. Sometimes a combination of both. Third, someone else already tried to sell us these exact same things. The ingredients contain diuretics as well as a plant used for hemorrhoids. Horse Chestnut Seed Extract- used to treat hemorrhoids Horsetail Leaf/Stem Extract- diuretic Butchers Broom Root Extract- diuretic and laxative Rosmarinus or Rosemary Leaf Oil- diuretic You may have minor results but being as they're based on diuretics, they will be temporary. When you stop using these things the volume will return because the moisture returns. These wraps are nothing more than an over-priced temporary fix. If you want to use them for the rest of your life, wonderful. That's your choice. But, others deserve to know the truth before spending their money on a gimmick and false claims.

The bigger you are when you start, the longer it will take for you to drop a size. It's weird but true. I started over 400 pounds and I didn't have to buy the next size down until I'd lost about 60 pounds. But the lower on the scale I go, the sooner I seem to need new clothes. Now, I lose 15-20 pounds and I start feeling like my clothes are getting too baggy. Hang in there, it will come and soon

How do you know if you hurt your band?
DELETE THIS ACCOUNT! replied to jensmith's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Unfortunately there's no way you can know without your surgeon checking the band placement. You're probably just sore but stick to your post op diet and ask your surgeon to be safe. -
It depends and varies greatly from person to person. Some don't loosen with weight loss at all. If you're band is too tight, you need an unfill not to wait and hope it gets looser with weight loss.

I eat when hungry, usually that's just 3 meals a day but if I need a snack I'll have one. -
Hearing horror stories of failure

It doesn't matter which WLS you choose, if you don't change your eating habits or fall back into old behavior you will regain the weight. Whether or not you lose the weight and keep it off is entirely up to you and 100% in your control. Best wishes. -

You're going to get all different responses. To be certain what is right for you you'll need to ask your nutritionist. I personally don't count carbs. I eat a minimum 60g of Protein and 1000-1200 calories a day. I also don't let fat make up more than 25% of my daily calories. For me it works, but there is no right or wrong amount. Everyone is different
