  1. Your post is rather hard to read. I'm not sure what you mean by "our rights". Unless it's life threatening and you're in an ER, a doctor does not have to treat you. So you really don't have any rights in that regard. Is this the doctor who put in your band originally? Why is he referring you to another doctor?

    Started, stopped, started again! ?

Carbonation goes right through the band because it's a liquid, however it also expands once in the lower stomach. When this happens, it causes upward pressure on the band and can result in slips. When I was in the hospital having my band surgery, the woman sharing my room with me was in for a band replacement. She caused her band not only to slip but her stomach prolapsed up through her band because of drinking carbonation. She also regained 40 pounds. So...this is why I will never ever touch carbonation again now that I'm banded.

    Yup afraid so
  4. Made an appointment with the orthopedic specialist to get my knee checked out. This being unable to walk sucks and is seriously bumming me out.

Good luck on your journey! Some fear is normal but if you know what you want and have the facts, then rest easy with your decision. Btw, there is no rule you can't have bread after being banded. I eat bread all the time. The only thing that is off limits after banding is carbonation. Anything else is fine in moderation.

    Ugh so discouraged!!

It does get better once you have adequate Fluid in your band, but you also have the power to make it better too. You said you haven't made good food choice or stuck to the post op diet- that is totally within your control to change. Keep in mind that while the band will control your hunger once you have the right amount of fluid in it, it can't make good food choices for you nor is it supposed to physically stop you from eating. You will have to learn to make good choices and stick to band sized portions. Hang in there and be patient, it takes time. Best wishes.

    Calories vs Exercise

Everyone is different but if it works for you, then yes. I don't mean that to sound as vague as it does but it's true. One thing I have learned is not to be afraid to play with your calorie range and nutritional intake levels to find what works best for you. Some do great on the range you're on, some need more, and some need less. The same goes for nutrients. Some do low carb, others don't count carbs, and everything in between. Do what works for you. If you find you stop losing for a month then maybe adjust it to see if it helps, but otherwise, just keep doing what works. Best wishes

    WTH?!?!

Well unless you consumed 10,500 calories over the last 24 hours, it's not possible. The body naturally fluctuates a couple pounds from day to day, even hour to hour. I wouldn't worry about it. It's probably just Water.

    Please help!

Don't wait until tomorrow to go back on the liquid diet- do it now. Right now. Not another bite of food that isn't allowed on your post op diet. As others aptly stated, your concern shouldn't be stretching your pouch your concern should be ripping the new stitches out of your stomach and causing serious damage. You need to call your doctor immediately, not Monday, and tell him what you did so he can decide what the best course of action is. Best wishes.

No hunger pains, but really want food

I think we're all scared at first. Just stick to your doctor's post op diet and don't cheat. You should only be on liquids right now. You'll be fine. Best wishes.

    Feeling your port

I couldn't feel mine at all at first, so when I finally lost enough stomach fat to feel it I was actually pretty excited. ...my kids weren't nearly as enthusiastic when I ran through the house squealing "wanna feel my port?"

Anyone have any experience with FMLA?

For FMLA, you'll have to get the required paperwork from your employer. You will have to have your doctor fill it out then give it to your HR department. To qualify, you have to have been employed with your currently employer for at least 1 year. When on FMLA time, your employer does not have to pay you nor do they have to promise your same job upon your return. All they are required to do is give you a job of comparable pay and ability upon your return. Hope that helps!

    Does your Surgeon...

Yes, actually. Either he or one of his staff calls me a couple days after every fill to make sure I'm doing ok. It's one of the many reasons I love my surgeon and his staff. I'm very glad to hear you have a good one too!

    Flustered

Personally, I simply couldn't logically justify hacking out 3/4 of my stomach or re-routing my intestines. I also didn't want to deal with dumping, Vitamin deficiencies, or malabsorbtion either. So, for me the only logical choice was the Lap Band. I honestly can't think of a single con. I have had a great experience with my band and would do it again in a heart beat. Best wishes.

    disappointed

I was told I could eat right up until the time I started eating then again 30 minutes after eating. So, I was pretty much sipping Water or green tea constantly except for that half hour after eating. Heck, I'm still sipping water or green tea constantly

    Bandster hell?

Yes, it's very much bandster hell. The way I survived it was I spread out my calories so I could eat every 2 hours. I never ate more than a cup of food and never went over my daily calorie allowance, but by budgeting my calories so I could eat every 2 hours I was able to control the hunger and still lose weight despite being in bandster hell. I know bandster hell sucks but just remember it's temporary. Hang in there!

Post op gas still?? Whats going on??

No you're not going nuts. It can take a couple weeks for that gas pain to subside unfortunately. The reason the gas x strips aren't working and you can't burp is because the gas isn't in your digestive system, it's in your abdominal cavity. The best thing you can do is walk as much as you can handle because it will help your body re-absorb it faster. Some also find a heating pad will help ease the discomfort.

    Troublesome foods

Honestly, there isn't anything I can't eat. It's rare I even get stuck. The food I'm most likely to get stuck on is dry meat, though. I was banded 14 months ago, I have 5.2cc in my 10cc band, and I've lost 196 pounds.

    Unfilled band question

I agree with Holly, if you're already measuring and counting calories, you're going to great with your band. You're already way ahead of most at this stage!!

    Restriction

If you're having night reflux, I would call your doctor and see what he advises. Reflux is a warning sign of a band too tight. It's always better safe than sorry so let your doctor decide. Best wishes.
