I feel no restriction in my band
DELETE THIS ACCOUNT! replied to Banded Mama's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
What you're feeling is very normal. It takes most people multiple fills before they have adequate Fluid in their bands. You're in what many of us call "bandster hell" because you have the band but don't feel it yet. It will get a lot easier and better but it will take some time (and likely a few more fills). Be patient. Best wishes. -
problems and then a NSV

Actually, the fact you're not losing and eating mostly soft foods are just more signs you're too tight. Contrary to the myths out there, being too tight can lead to stalled weight loss and even weight gain. The reason being, you're resorting to slider type foods and "soft calorie syndrome" because you can't eat the healthy things you should be. Have a look at this article, it is about being too tight and is really good info: http://www.lapbandtalk.com/page/index.html/_/support/post-op-support/tighter-isnt-always-better-r118 I think you can safely ride it out until Monday, but do get in to see your doctor. Best wishes -
Ignore this idiot. This is the 7th thread they've been on (and counting) talking pure BS and spreading flat lies about the band. Total troll.
-
Please don't listen to the idiot troll Awanda, she/he/it is hitting every thread on here talking complete BS. Overcoming emotional eating and grazing is hard. I know that's something I've always struggled with too. I find distracting myself helps. I know this is going to sound weird, but night is my hardest time, so I've kinda "trained" my brain. Every night I brush my teeth and take a hot bath when I feel the urge to graze. Now, it's like a signal to my brain "oh it's bath and clean teeth time, we're done eating for the night". I know it sounds weird but it's worked. I also find keep safe food around for when I just have to have something. I really like both dill pickles and cucumbers. Both are zero calories, so when I need something I grab one. Hang in there.

If you're having heartburn, you need to see your doctor. That can be a major red flag that you're too tight. So, give your doctor a call. Congratulations on the NSV!!! -

Getting the ball rolling

You're kidding right? I'm seeing a pattern of you going from thread to thread spewing absolute BS untruths about the Lap Band. Yet your profile is blank and you just joined this forum yesterday. Troll much? -
That is completely untrue. Most of us due reach the Green Zone and stay there. The Lap Band doesn't "stretch out", it expands inward around the stomach. When we do need another fill after reaching the Green Zone it's because the fat layer around the stomach shrinks due to weight loss.

Question
DELETE THIS ACCOUNT! replied to livinghealthy's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
You're only 5 days post op so I'm assuming you're on liquids. Unfortunately, hunger is going to happen, you have to tough through it until you get further down the post op diet phases. As far as your mouth being spitty, did your doctor put Fluid in your band at surgery? If so, you may need a little taken out. I would give him a call to be safe. -

Rejection of band/nickel allergy
DELETE THIS ACCOUNT! replied to AuntLisa82's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I found this: The LAP-BAND® Adjustable Gastric Band is made out of silicone and titanium. So, no nickel, but definitely talk to your surgeon about it to be safe. Good luck! -
You have to remember, your band doesn't make you lose weight, consuming less calories than you burn results in losing weight. The band is there to dim your appetite and allow you to be satisfied on less food for longer periods of time. How many calories a day are you eating? Are you sticking to a cup or less of food per meal?

Hunger Pains
DELETE THIS ACCOUNT! replied to texasteacher2013's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well you're only eating a cup of food per day, you are hungry. Your doctor can't have told you too only eat that little. What are you supposed to be eating? -
I would definitely have your surgeon have a look at it.

Tonight I am chaperoning a band trip that involves a long ride on a bus and sitting in an auditorium. It's so nice to no longer have to worry if I'll fit in the seats!!

Picketing the Cadbury Corporation. Anyone with me?
DELETE THIS ACCOUNT! replied to marfar7's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Girl I am right there with you!!! Cadbury Eggs are my FAVORITE candy of all time. I seriously love them and used to look forward to Easter to have them all year long. Last night my daughter bought a 5 pack of them and offered me one in the car. She's lucky I didn't push her out at a stop light. LOL So far, I have resisted temptation (and I have no idea how) but I am growing weaker and weaker. -
No longer feeling out of control/ ready to move on...
DELETE THIS ACCOUNT! replied to NYC1992's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm very, very glad in the light of a new day you're doing better! I can only speak for myself, but believe me, I haven't forgotten how miserable I was. At all. It was only 14 months ago I was almost 200 pounds fatter in total misery both physically and emotionally. Those memories are still VERY raw and so are the scars, trust me. See, here's the problem with forums. The only thing we have to go on is the information before us. We don't know you on a personal level so all we can do is form an opinion based on the very limited information at hand. When that information is someone saying they feel completely out of control before they even have the surgery, we worry. It's sad but you can't imagine how many people we see on these forums that honestly should've never had the surgery. They totally self destruct in the months after surgery. We see them chowing on a foot long sub when they're supposed to be on a post op liquid diet, or they post how they're 6 months out and haven't lost a pound because they can't control their emotional eating. Because we see this happening, when someone pre-op says "I'm out of control", we suggest reevaluating themselves not to be mean or because we forgot how hard it is, but because we know the work this journey requires and we don't want to see you become another failure statistic. We would rather see you postpone your surgery and be a success. Again, we said what we did because we DO care. We very much are here for you and want nothing but the best and success for you on your journey. I'm very glad you're feeling better and able to go forward with your surgery. Take care. -
You are doing beautifully Jim. So proud of you!!

Creams??
DELETE THIS ACCOUNT! replied to Stephaniea2412's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Honestly, not much. I know coco butter can really help stretch marks a lot. I use Roc Retinol for fine lines and wrinkles on my face it and has helped considerably. But sagging skin is different. If you only have a little, you might find one that helps, but if you have a lot nothing will help. Sagging skin is greatly dependent on how long you've been overweight and how much, how much you lose, your age, skin elasticity, and genetics. Some people get really lucky with none while others have a ton of it. Good luck! -

Drinking by meals ? Solid Versus Liquid -- Satiety Study in Well-Adjusted Lap-Band Patients
DELETE THIS ACCOUNT! replied to Alex Brecher's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am in the habit of not drinking with meals because it was what I was taught from the very beginning, however I would be inclined to agree with the study by way of common sense. A lot has changed in their understanding of the band. One of the more recent realizations is that food passes through the band in less than a minute when eaten, it doesn't sit on the band collecting in the pouch unless you're eating too fast or too tight so it's not emptying correctly. Being as it doesn't sit above the band, that would mean there's nothing to "wash through" as previously thought and the reason they taught us not to drink with meals. So, it makes sense that the study would find no difference in satiety between those who drank with meals and those who didn't. -
CPAP/Sleep Apnea Misery!
DELETE THIS ACCOUNT! replied to HilaryInRC's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Jim and Kime-lou gave great insight and advice! I will add only this: sleep apnea can definitely go away with weight loss. When I started this journey I also had obstructive sleep apnea. Now, not only is my sleep apnea gone but I don't even snore anymore. At all. Hang in there, it does get a lot easier and better!
