I Need Some Motivation
ANewMe! replied to marielalora's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
At first my husband encouraged me to exercise and eat healthy. Well obviously that didn't work out (after trying for yrs)... Now I have the band, 30lbs lighter, and he loves every minute of it. Just the other day he was griping because I can't finish my plate and he has been eating my food- well he has gained a good 10lbs since I was banded! lol Ya'll just keep your head up because when your looking good and feeling great they will have changed their mind about the lap band. -
I'm so sorry. I chose not to tell many people because I knew I would hear negative feed back like, "Your taking the easy way out, or just eat right and you can lose weight"... My family knows, but I have limited number of friends that know. Some people in your family are probably just jealous because they know you will be losing weight in no time and that probably bothers them (weird I know but it's probably the truth). Keep your head high. Your about to lose weight and feel great! The first couple weeks are really hards but once you see that number on the scale go down it will feel so good. Good luck in your journey.

During surgery they place a tube down (intubation) your throat to maintain an airway while your under for surgery. It's common for ones throat to be sore afterwards. My throat was a little sore a couple days, but it finally went away.

Some places will not give you FMLA for bariatric surgery... I know where I work doesn't and their a hospital. I just took my PTO.

Good for you girl! You look great... doesn't it feel good. June 18th will be one year since I got married and I got the lap band in Jan... now I'm 30lbs down. I also don't like looking at my wedding pictures, but I feel so good now. Keep up the good work.

I would not take that. It's not a healthy way to lose weight. The lap band is a tool that allows us to lose weight and be healthy. Adipex is basically "speed" or others call it "meth" in a pill and that's why it works. When you try to get off of it you will have no engery at all!! I was on it for a couple of month years ago, and it took me a while to get my normal energy levels back. Granted it helped me lose weight, but I gained it all back when I got off of it because I had no energy. It made me jittery too and that's why I only took half a pill a day. Seriously rethink about taking this... it's really not healthy.

Keep your head up! I'll be praying for you. The great thing is you have lost some weight!

I felt the same way. Honestly, it then hit me that I had a food addiction. I mean I knew I did before but I was miserable because I was still on the liquid phase and I couldn't have anything. The first two weeks of having the lap band was the worst for me. Good luck on your journey. It feels great to lose weight... it not only makes you look better, but makes you feel great! I feel much healthier, and I love that I don't just "stuff" myself with food anymore. I now eat slower and enjoy my small amount of food.

After The Post Op Diet Like Clear Liquids, Etc. What Will I Be Able To Eat?
ANewMe! posted a blog entry in What food will be limited having the lap band?
I'm just curious what foods "work" well with the lap band and what don't work so well. For instance I've seen some people say rice and breads don't work very well with their lap band. Granted rice is probably not the healthiest but I love rice! So I don't want to cut it completely the rest of my life! Aslo please comment any tips to eating with the lap band one I can eat food and not just liquids and mushies. -
I had surgery Jan 5. The Dr. said I had a very large hernia which makes since because I had to worst acid reflux aka indigestion. I have recovered great! I'm 10 days post op and feeling good. And praise the Lord no more acid reflux!

I didn't have a BM till 4 days after surgery. My doctor told me to take 4 doses of Milk of Mag each day for the first 48hrs. I've had three BMs and I am on day 8 post op. Urinating is another story... I had trouble especially the first few days. Now I'm trying to make sure I get enough liquids in order to flush my kidneys. I just make sure I go atleast 3 times daily.

I just had surgery Jan 5 and I feel the same way. Today I feel a little better but I'm trying to drink more fluids and I ate egg drop soup to try to get a little protein. I offically made it a week out today, but it has not been easy! I go back to work tonight, and I'm not sure that I'm ready. I'm a nurse and work 12hr shift.
