Wow - Just Added Up The Cost Of My Surgery - $81865.22

Mine was around $100,000. I had a few extras, but it all related to the VSG. It was worth it all. -

Just Started Pre-Op Diet... Kinda Scared, Lots Of Questions.
kdippy replied to Bryan Whitson's topic in Pre-op Diets and Questions
Just stick to the diet as close as you can. I remember drinking coffee and pop right up until I had the surgery. I ate a good protien diet everynight for dinner. Lot's of fish. What they are trying to do, is make sure that your liver is moved away from your stomach. For goodness sakes don't start smoking, I'm not a doctor, but I can't see how the nicarteen gum, would hurt you, if you quit it before the surgery. Good luck to you, your doing the right thing. I had my surgery 10 months ago, and I'm at goal. Best thing I ever did for myself. PS. I can eat anything, I don't drink coffee or soda's, just don't want to ruin a good thing. Best of Luck.Kathy -

Ok, I went to the doctor last week, and he said, I could mantain my weight here on out. It's been 10 months since my surgery on 12/12/11 and I've lost 100 pounds. I'm in a size 8 and feeling great. I said, I still needed to lose 10 more pounds to reach the goal, that the charts say I should weigh, he said, have you ever heard of big bones?, well you have them. You are at a perfect weight for your height and age. I have never been told that before in my life. Oh, and I just have to let you all know, because it could be a concern. My husband of 21 years and I have never been so in love, it's the greatest. He didn't have to lose weight, but I've seen changes in him, to be younger, and keep up with me. So many times, we take off on this journey, and leave them behind, not us. Oh, and another thing, that is important. Shop at resale shops, I love Goodwill. I have never had so many outfits, that are brand names, like Liz, Ann Taylor, Gap, and my fav, J.Crew. I guess all the thinner women, bought them, and gained weight, now they are mine, and I can spend 50 bucks, and walk out with about 300 in new outfits. Try it, when your changing sizes from 20- 8 in 10 months, you have to look at a cheaper way, I than turn around and donate them right back, win win.

How Often Do You Need To See The Doctor, After Surgery?
kdippy posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had my surgery, on 12/11/12, and the last time I went to the doctor, was for my six week check up. I have other friends, that say, they go about every other month, and can't believe I haven't been back to the doctor. I've done great, I've lost 90 pounds, in the past 9 months, and I'm about 15 away from goal. I really have avoided the doctor, because, I feel so darn great, but, I don't follow the diet, of my surgeron. I don't drink protien, and I pretty much eat anything I want. I don't exercise, but, my job keeps me running. I was just wondering, how often you think a person should go back. thanks -
Ok, from the get go, all I wanted was to lose this weight. I had my surgery on Dec. 12, 2011, about 9 months ago. I started at 258, and now I'm 168, I've lost 90 pounds so far. I will lose about 25 more, in the time coming. I have not been to a doctor since my six weeks check-up, and I feel great. I have not taken any protien drinks or vitimans since my six week check-up. I have and do eat everything, except, I only eat supper, and that is a small portion. If I want a scone for breakfast once a week, by gosh, that is what I have. I don't really exercise, but my job, has me running alot. I have gone from a size 20 to a 10. I'm 54, and have never felt this great in many years. Your smart, eat good. When my hair fell out, every one said use this or that, guess what didn't use anything, it stopped falling out and now it better than ever. Just use common sense. You didn't go thru this surgery to screw up now. Good luck

Oh No, I'm Almost 6 Month Out, And I Learned I Can Snack Again. Help
kdippy replied to kdippy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Wow, thanks, my friends. I felt every kick in the pants. lol I will regain my strength on this one. I guess, I thought the weight would just keep falling, but it takes just as much work now as it did, before. It shouldn't be that way, but it is what it is. Thanks again, love you all. -
Ok, it's true, I was so on top of this, and I've lost 65 pounds, and have about 45 to go. The only thing is I'm falling back into old habits. It is true, I can't eat the whole bag at once, but give me a few hours and I can. I'm so trying to take back my life, that I've even concidered starting to smoke again, that is what I use to do before, but I'm enjoying the extra money, so I don't think I will pick up that nasty habit, but I just emptied my cupboards this morning and got rid of all the chips and candy. I even made my self drink a protien drink for breakfast, insted of eating junk. I'm almost 6 month out on the 12th of june. I stopped two months ago drinking protien, or even trying to get it in my diet. I need a bid kick in the pants, I didn' t come all this way to be stuck. I haven't gained , but I haven't lost a single pound in 1 whole month. What to do. Help, give me some advice old sleevers. Kathy

Has Anyone Experience Hair Loss With The Sleeve
kdippy replied to Rosikah's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I wouldnt worry about it to much. In fact, I think the more you worry about it, the more it will fall out. Look at it this way, were all going to be skinny bald people. I would not waste a penny on any thing, just as soon as your body is not in shock, your hair will thicken back up. -

Has Anyone Experience Hair Loss With The Sleeve
kdippy replied to Rosikah's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Oh, let me tell you, I'm so losing my hair. It's been happening for a month and a half, and it scares the heck out of you. I'm so lucky to have really thick hair, and I too thought, it wasn' t going to happen to me, but at 3 1/2 months out, bammm it happened. I still to this day, have a hand full of hair after each wash. I have normal thickness now, but if I keep losing it, I will go crazy. I take prenatio vitiems that I don't know if they help or not. It has to stop soon. I was told that people with really thick hair, complain the most, because they notice it the most. I have never seen anyone on here say they went bald, so that helps. PS, if that was one of the down falls of losing weight, I still would have done it. Good luck and peace to you Kathy -

Oh Nooooo, I'm Snacking Way To Much, What To Do?
kdippy replied to kdippy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well thank you all. Yes it's been a couple of days, and I so wish I would have left a little something in one of my drawers. lol I'm kidding. To keep me from snacking last night, I rode my bike for 10 miles. and than I got home and showered and sat to watch tv, I decided, that I could not fill my self with junk, after that healthy ride. I know it's a fight, and yes I too, did think, oh no I should have had the other surgery, and I would still lose, but I have to tell you, no matter which one you have, each one has it's own demons. Good luck to you all and thanks for being my friends. love you all Peace. Kathy -

Oh Nooooo, I'm Snacking Way To Much, What To Do?
kdippy posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I find, that I can only eat a small meal, but for the last month, I found, that I can eat chips, and crackers, and nibble foods, for ever. I found, yesterday, I had 4 different boxes of goodies in my desk drawer. I was wondering why, I havent lost anything, this past few weeks, than it dawned on me, it's all this snacking. So I loaded up the boxes, and out to the lunch room they went. Now, I feel better. It 's hard at night too, cause, I found myself doing, the snacking at night too. In the dumpster they must go. This is how it all started in the first place. We might all have small stomachs now, but if you put junk in them, your going to have junk in your trunck. Beware, it can happen to you. Oh, and ps, I started out with low calorie, but my goodness, they can add up too. -

Found My Husband Reaching To Hold My Hand In The Mall.....
kdippy posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I love my husband, and he is my best friend of 20 years, he has loved me thru all my problems with weight. He has been my best support. I have to admit, I'm starting to look hot, and we went to the mall last night, and he reached out and took my hand. I just looked at him, and he gave me that young man look, that won my heart years ago. We only held hands for a few minutes, and went on our way, but it was nice. Thanks sleeve for letting me relive the good ol days. top weight 260 sleeved 12/12/11 todays weight 195 - 65 goal weight 145
