  1. Hello everybody, I am new to the group. I have waited a year to get my surgery going, and I finally have a date set. I will be getting the gastric sleeve on June 6. The only problem is that I am going to college to get my nursing degree, and I will be in school at that time. I wanted to know if it could all be done. Has anyone still managed to go to school while recovering from this surgery? I don't know how I should handle all of this. I have beein waiting to have this surgery for so long that I don't want to postpone another minute of it. If anyone has had this problem can you give me some advice. Thanks.

    Hiccups And Gas Pain?

I still have the hiccups after I eat a meal sometimes. I finally found a way to get rid of the hiccups that actually works. You take a deep breath in, and hold it. Then while you're holding in that breath take in another breath and hold it. Then you take in whatever extra air you can hold in your lungs and try not to exhale for awhile. Then you let it all out and the hiccups go away. I never used to get hiccups much before surgery, and now after surgery hiccups just seem to be a normal part of life. I also burp a lot, and my stomach makes all kinds of crazy digestive noises. The burps that come out aren't like regular burps though. They are small, uncontrollable burps that come out unexpected, without much warning. I haven't found any kind of cure for the burping. So I just tried to accept that along with the hiccups, and digestive noises.
  3. I am glad I am not the only one that does this. I had surgery seven months ago, and I still burp all the time after a meal. It's frustrating because these burps don't give me any warning, and I have no control over them. I was talking to a co-worker after I ate one time, I opened my mouth to say something and a little belch came out. It is not easy to come up with an explanation of why I just burped in her face. It's embarassing, but I have to agree with everyone. I love the results of my surgery, and if I occasionally have to burp without control, I can live with that. I also have other random digestive noises coming out, and the hiccups. I learned that the hiccups thing is from becoming full. I guess the burping is also a full thing that I do also. My doctor told me to eat 3 meals a day, and eat until I feel full. So I followed his guidelines, and now I burp on pretty much a regular basis after a meal.
